Cozy restaurant in the Lorraine. Nice service and great brunch!

We had dinner there with a group of friends. I didn't know what to expect. The service was done from shared dishes, and quickly a first problem arose: the quantities were ridiculously small, which meant that people did not dare to help themselves. Culinarily the dishes were daring (like the savory waffles served as an accompaniment) but taste-wise everything was frankly of very limited interest. After asking twice for a coffee which never came, the coup de grace was the bill of 48chf (menu price without drinks) for in the end being able to eat next to the accompaniments only half a slice of bland roast with a sauce that is too salty.

Last night the three of us at Du Nord. Food was of top quality. As a heavy eater, I even received a refill free of charge. Service was super friendly - the ambience was perfect, urban and trendy. Price-performance ratio is very fair. Good Pinot drunk (Diva 2.0).

Good varied menu. Food was good. I chose deer pepper: large portion, with the usual side dishes. All tables were occupied, but the service still worked quite well, very friendly, warm and uncomplicated. The ambience in terms of furnishings is very nice. Unfortunately, our table was uncomfortable: not that wide and I hit my knee on the table leg several times, not very practical. It was very loud as the house was full. We almost had to shout at each other. Nevertheless, I recommend a visit. I will come back.

One of my favorite restaurants in Bern, I always come here. Good and varied selection, also vegetarian. Food is always delicious and the service is friendly and helpful. The terrace in summer is really pretty.

Interesting concept with good food. We were there for brunch on a Saturday. Good selection and fine food. The service is nice and courteous. To give 5 stars to the service, I lacked genuine interest in the guest. Don't get me wrong, the service was good and friendly, that's why it was 4*. But we simply felt served and not completely welcomed and integrated. When we asked whether a dish was good, we were told that we hadn't tried it ourselves. Little things, I know, but my reasoning for the missing star.

We weren't there to eat, we just asked for help and we were sent away everywhere else. We were warmly served here!

Great food, very friendly service

The menu was surprisingly different from what you might expect in a restaurant. Food and service were good and I would come again. The outdoor area in the garden is on the main street. Beggars who want coal disrupt the customer experience.

This community centric eatery delivered us a delicious meal with the friendliest of service. It was a delight. I had the "Surprise" which was only 17 Swiss Franks and it was fresh and delicious. The ambiance is lovely, lots of outdoor tables, people peddling by on bicycles, some patrons playing card games, and we didn't need a reservation on Saturday night. It was a lucky find

Brunch was quite ok. The basic selection was too thin for my taste, 1 confit, 1 mini piece of butter, 3 slices of fine bread. For me, brunch includes a selection of jams and honey. It doesn't have cold cuts.

And I haven't been here for a long time 🤷🏻‍♂️ With the new management, many positive things have changed 🤗 For example the service 👍🏻 very kind and well prepared 👌🏻 the cuisine made a leap in quality, good choice 👌🏻 So I will gladly return 🤗

The portion wasn't huge, but incredibly delicate and lovingly prepared. I still had more than enough. The service was friendly, with 18 drinks everyone only got the right one on the second attempt, but it was dealt with in a friendly manner. The atmosphere is old, worn out and simple, that's ok. The toilets are designed in a homeboy and party style, which isn't my thing, but they're so poorly lit that you can barely see what you're doing. The latter is not a problem, I can serve the queue with my eyes closed, but those of us who are tall boys and girls don't know for the life of us whether they have already wiped themselves clean...

I love Du Nord not only from a culinary perspective. The German there, I think his name was Hans or something like that, rocked the place. His taste in music and his great manner were an A-class experience! Just one big LOVE. Kisses go out to Hans <3

Good location, easily accessible by public transport. Cozy place, also suitable for an intimate dinner. The menu is only in German, so for those who don't know the language it is almost impossible to understand the menu. The quality is high and so is the price

We took the train from eastern Switzerland to Du Nord and were not disappointed. We had a hearty brunch here. In Du Nord that means a smooth transition from morning to midday. The waitresses were very nice and attentive. The ambience has a really cool vibe and the food was very good. Everything is very, very fine! Whether bread, homemade jam, Shakshuka or granola. We enjoyed everything. The trip was worth it!

Cozy neighborhood pub, a place to meet and enjoy. My partner and I only drank one Felsenau beer, but we come back when there's live music or for a nice dinner. The selection of daily newspapers is very large.

I think it's a bit overhyped. Breakfast ok, but nothing where I can say OMG. Lunch is average. I thought the dessert was the best so far. Otherwise, go for a drink.

Creative and delicious menus, veggie and vegan options too. Their Brunch is insanely good, you can either order a basket with bread/butter/jam and add special dishes like waffles or shakshuka or for a min of 4 people you can order a brunch buffet with lots of options from the menu, also available vegetarian. I also lived the Chai latte with oat milk. Dinner and lunch options are also fantastic. They have lots of space and you can sit outside too.

The food was fine and not expensive, but the service was really cold, emotionless and seemed unmotivated. It's really a shame about that. In addition, it took a while until the main courses were on the table.

Food GOOD - service a total catastrophe - doesn't fit the food and the concept! Rolling your eyes, not pouring wine, not asking if the food was good, not bringing water which is advertised to you when you order, just sloppy! A PITY -

I went there for brunch with friends. There was a good selection, so we ordered several items and shared them together. Everything was delicious and affordable.

Surprise Grand Bouffe was meager and not inexpensive. I wasn't informed about this and it wasn't written anywhere on the menu that drinks were not included (+CHF 40). Tap water cost CHF 3 per head, again not informed.

At Du Nord you will never be disappointed! Every week they conjure up fantastic menus. The entire staff is also professional and super friendly!

You can eat very well, highly recommended.

Unfortunately only breakfast on the weekend - even though we had reserved for lunch - no one told us on the phone. Breakfast was okay - a bit overpriced.

We visited Du Nord on a Sunday afternoon. The waitress didn't pay any attention to us, was unfriendly, arrogant and snooty. You don't feel welcome. It's a shame, because it would actually be a great restaurant.

One of my favorite addresses in Bern. I go there regularly for their brunches with unbeatable quality/price. Their menu is also original and their dishes succulent.

Established value in the Bernese gastronomic scene. Also satisfied with this visit after a long break. Menu over lunch offers different variants (pasta, meat, vegetarian).

Very great and tasty dishes that you can't get everywhere else. Prices are a bit higher but justified for the high quality food.

Laid back atmosphere and a small but considered range of food on offer (was there at lunchtime) - I picked the "surprise" option and was not disappointed, very tasty. The concept of the surprise meal definitely appeals, so if you're not a fussy eater I'd recommend taking the gamble. Readily offered "supplement" as well if your appetite is more hearty, so yes, terribly "hipster" but in the best posible way :)

Gehen immer mal wieder zum Mittagessen ins Du Nord. Das Essen ist lecker und günstig und das Personal immer sehr freundlich. Ausserdem werden die Gäste super geschützt.

Lockeres Ambiente mit leckerem Essensangebot und auch eine gute Auswahl an Getränken. Freundliches und unaufdringliches Personal.

Die Philosophie hier gefällt mir sehr gut. Ein vorzügliches, zurückhaltendes und sehr nettes Personal, die Gerichte einfach und schön zubereitet, vorzüglich und delikat, allem voran die geniale und frische Siedfleich-Terrine. Der Hauptgang mit dem brillanten Ziegenkäse hat voll meinen Nerv getroffen, ebenso die wunderbare Pasta mit Gorgonzola, welche mein Begleiter bestellt hat. Sehr sehr gerne wieder.
