Elsie's Bar in Zermatt

We walked in for a quick pre-dinner drink. They made accommodation for us (we didn’t have a reservation ). It was cozy and quaint. The service and quick and efficient. We’ll be back

Very cool bar, the atmosphere and design are cool, authentic. The service was very good and the food was delicious.

We enjoyed a small bottle of very good wine with some great friends. Roro and Guigui made me dream. The servers are so nice and welcomed us with a smile and warm kindness. I am very happy with this shared moment and I want to experience thousands more like this. The music and the setting of this establishment is really pleasant, you feel at home, it’s just perfect.

Beautiful place to have dinner or for a quick drink. Their chef’s table is not to miss. The staff ambiance and music made it one of the best we experiences in Zermatt.

Updated January 2024: we finally came back here for dinner and we were not disappointed by the tartare and escargots. The mains were good, but not as good as the starters. We loved this place so much, that we came twice! Our hotel recommended this as a place to try local wines before dinner as it was just around the corner from the hotel. You enter to a dimly lit bar with low wooden tables and velvet chairs. It's quiet enough to chat, but loud enough to feel lively. Our first night, we only had a few glasses of wine, but our second night we came back for steak tartare and their speciality, escargots. Both were delicious and went well with the recommended wines. Next time, we'll try their restaurant as the bar staff kept raving about how good it was.

Great food 😋, staff was great, though very busy. It is a small venue, you must make reservations to get a seat.

Great mulled wine... I'm not an alcoholic, but I really know my mulled wine, and this is one of the best I've had... glu glu glu and wow...and glu and wow! 😉

The word 'cosy' is often overused to describe Alpine bars and restaurants but for Elsie's it is very much an apt label . An excellent selection of wines and local beers, attentive staff and charming surroundings makes this venue a welcome break from the tourist hordes outside.

Stopped in after our day hikes and had a nightcap. Staff very nice. Great location.

Absolutely great place! Super cool location in the center of town. Umbre (I believe it's written) is amazing at his job, his humour makes you enjoy the great wines even more! Tell him what you like as a taste or what mood you are in and he will serve you just what you need 🍷 Had a Blast there and will definitely return 🥰

Cool wine bar, a bit hipster, doesn't fit Zermatt at all but that's exactly why it's an ideal place to enjoy the evening. Located in the center of the village, right next to the church, great atmosphere, very friendly service, good selection of wines from Valais. I can only recommend!

We were looking for a great place to have a drink in town and we were happily surprised to see how amazing, cosy and vibrant place this bar was. Thanks to the staff that was friendly and professional we could get great advices for our bottle of wine.

Pure disappointment! We made a reservation and when we arrived there was no space available. The lady from the service just said that she didn't know anything about a reservation. (We had an email confirmation). She didn't care at all. We then organized ourselves, i.e. waited until there was a free table. Food was so mediocre, portions small and no bread with the salad. We didn't feel welcome. Elsi's used to have a good reputation, but today there are dozens of better addresses in the center of Zermatt.

The perfect spot to people watch while having a drink. Friendly and professional staff and an excellent wine selection. Highly recommend.

Intimate space to enjoy good wine

Amazing service and great food. I went for a light dinner after a day of skiing with my family and by far some of the friendliest staff members. The snails were fantastic.

If you don't go there, you'll regret it big time. So, go, highly recommend!

Very good welcome, nice little terrace

We dropped in for a glass of wine, and boy did we get surprised! A-class service led us to go for their specialty, snails and oysters! This convinced us to go for their chefs table menu the next day! One of our best experience’s we have had the pleasure to participate in! A well kept secret in a town with Michelin stars all around. The restaurant is located in an authentic Swiss house in the middle of Zermatt. And did we say there wines are fantastic!

Great atmosphere, the waiters were really friendly and amicable and the music was really nice. It was cosy and it doesn’t look like much from the outside but the insides interior is really warm and inviting. Classic ski bar. The service was fast and there were many beverages to choose from. Highly recommend the oysters. Great place, will definitely come back in the future.

Very nice little bistro for an aperitif, very large choice. Small downside when you open a bottle with a cork for serving by the glass, you taste it to make sure everything is in order before filling the glasses.

Small, cosy, quaint and typical bar well located in the middle of Zermatt. We love it and everytime we are in Zermatt we stop every evening for drinks, nice choice of delicious swiss wines. Price are fine with warm service and smiles. You can find as many local as international clients, young and mature, it s fun!

An amazing place to stop off for a quick bite. Very cozy, the waiters are friendly and beautiful. You have to get here before lunch or dinner so you can secure a good table. During summer they have amazing seating outside.

Don’t be fooled by the name ”wine and champagne bar” although the wine list really stands up to expectations. Come for the food and you will not be disappointed. Oh, and the oysters.

Good wine, very good cheese plate. Nice shop. Actually 5 stars straight away. The conditions alone (initially) made a very apathetic and unfriendly impression across the board. Over time our conditions became very nice and accommodating. Would definitely come back.

A very nice place with a bar with snacks on the first floor and a restaurant on the second. Everything was very tasty, a real work of culinary art! The waiter gave great advice about the wine. This establishment is definitely recommended to visit!

Had the best aperitivo ever there that I'm still craving for 🤩 i asked for Aperol Spritz but got something else as they don't have it. Can anyone tell me what that amazing drink is called? Ps: If you go there get a cheese plate - it's a MUST!

Best Rosé in my life. We came down from the mountains and sat there for something refreshing and choosing Elsis was a great idea. So nice, and so competent lady from the bar as well🌹.

Can’t say enough about this gem we stumbled upon while on vacation! My mother’s name is Elsie and we knew without a doubt we had to check it out! The service was superb and the staff was wonderful! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is in the area!

You don’t have to know everything about wine when going to Elsie’s. Really personal and pleasant treatment. Excellent wine. Lovely atmosphere in a stunning area on earth!

We were yesterday back in this famous must-to-be little bar of Zermatt for an apero with my husband and my mother-in-law. We had a wonderful time, the place is cosy with a friendly dedicated staff and the wine selection is various and amazing. We’re looking forward to be back for dinner there next time we are iin Zermatt!Thank you!

Nice and cosy atmosphere, staff is very friendly. Great selection of local (from the canton) and international wines. We had a great croque monsieur (made with raclette cheese and coppa) and a small cheese plate.

Nice cosy wine bar, perfect to warm up after a cold day outside. I couldn't decide between two wines, so the waiter let me taste both. Relaxed atmosphere, nice music.

Top Service und nettes Traditionslokal mit moderner leckerer Küche

Ferien beginnen mit einem guten Apero und in der Elsies Wine Bar ist hier auch der perfekte Ort gefunden.

Auf eine Einladung nahmen wir dort eine Käseplatte zu uns. Schön arrangiert und mit pers. Beratung serviert. Toll 500Km von der Heimat den besten Käse aus dem Elsass zu bekommen. Auch der mallorquinische Wein war ein Volltreffer. Bei unserem nächsten Aufenthalt ist ein Besuch ein Muss. Danke für den schönen Nachmittag.

Ich gebe für die Lage und die sehr nette Bardame eine ok Bewertung. Sonst ist meiner Meinung nach nicht viel. Rest des Personals unmotiviert und Essen durchschnittlich. Preislich hoch, aber in Zermatt sollte man dies nicht gewichten

Quelle soirée et repas magiques dans cet endroit original sur la place de l’Eglise. Nous avons dégusté de délicieuses ciabattas composées d’une main de maître par Alain, de légumes ou de bœuf ou de poulet tout cela grillé au feu de bois. Un délice! Quelle idée géniale pour passer une soirée entre amis. Dommage qu’ils ne vendent pas la sauce chimichurri du Chef à l’emporter pour ce régaler et ce souvenir de ce moment génial à la maison.

Perfect location but the unfriendliest staff I have experienced for a while. If you fancy a drink and watching the crowds, this is a great spot. But don't expect to be treated as a guest!

Este es el lugar perfecto en Zermatt para tomar una cerveza o una bebida después de una caminata. Personal amable, servicio rápido y cervezas locales muy agradables. Además, pregunte por la coppa orgánica casera que es simplemente deliciosa.

Wenn die Dame vom Service gefühlte 10 Mal an einem vorbeiläuft, den Tisch nebenan bedient (sind nach uns gekommen), und nicht mal mit uns spricht, geschweige denn grüsst. Da sind wir ohne zu konsumieren wieder gegangen. Ein kurzes "Hallo", "ich komme gleich" oder "ich räum gleich ab" (Geschirr der Vorgänger) hätte gereicht. So aber, von der Freundlichkeit und Bedienung her absolut nicht zu empfehlen. Zu den Getränken oder Speisen können wir nichts sagen, da wir nicht zu dem gekommen sind.

Hoy fuimos a tomar algo al bar de Elsie. El personal era muy agradable y educado. El servicio fue bueno, y la vista donde nos sentamos (afuera) era tan hermosa. Podías ver a la gente caminar y disfrutar de la brisa del verano en Zermatt.

Bar à champagnes et vins ! L'endroit est un peu ginder ! Vous aurez le droit à tous les clicher (femmes botoxée affreuses avec des seins plus gros que le cervin, sacs Louis vuitton et rolex à foison, jeune français serveur dans un restaurant à côté qui fait semblant d'être riche). Mais le bar en lui même est vraiment chouette ! Avec beaucoup de choix de vins, champagnes ou prosecco ! Le service est très bon ! Je recommande

Elsie’s is a fantastic wine bar in the heart of Zermatt with a lovely cosy & relaxed atmosphere. We visited for a wine in the evening & ended up cancelling our dinner reservation and spending the evening here. Christina is a fabulous host, and made great wine recommendations for us. Alain is a wonderful & passionate chef - who knew a ciabatta for dinner could be such a treat?!All in all, a wonderful experience. We will be back!!

+ tolle Atmosphäre, nette Bedienung - eher teuer

Tolle Bar und freundliche Gastgeber, tolle Weinkarte mit riesiger Offenwein Auswahl und Flaschen zu fairen Preisen. Auch die Küche lässt mit den kleinen und grossen Gerichten keine Wünsche offen.

Kein Ambiente mehr, nur noch sterile Geldmache. Auf der Karte nur überteuerte Weine, keine Cocktails mehr. Schade. Und auch keine Bar.

Stopped in Elsies with friends for wine and light meal after a day on the slopes. We were looking for a quiet, mellow vibe that day and Elsies was perfect. Very cozy, old world feel, great service and reasonably priced wines. I highly recommend Elsies if in Zermatt.

We had drinks and dinner on our last night in Zermatt. Elsie's is a lovely little place with very friendly staff. They really make sure that you are all taken care off. The food is relatively expensive and not all that good. Some of us ordered the lobster spagetti which was disappointing. For 52 Fr per plate that is not exceptable. However, some ordered the Bison, which was very good. Overall, great atmosphere, food okay and the location is wonderfull
