Flühmatt in Engelberg

Very nice atmosphere with the most delicious schnitzel with rösti I have ever had. The staff is very nice and friendly and it was definitely worth the hike up to the restaurant on a day when the slopes were closed for skiing.

Just great, go there, enjoy Alpine macaroons and marvel at the view, it's worth it 🤗

TL;DR + Food was good + Ambiance - Service - Expired mayonnaise We were a group who were eating there. The food was ok and the atmosphere was very cozy and OK. We were surprised at the reaction of the service staff when we pointed them out, including the expired mayonnaise (which can happen). She just said: "It's not that bad, it's only a month since the expiry date." The rest of the service staff were very friendly and accommodating.

You sit 300 meters above Engelberg with a wonderful view of the valley and the Titlis. The food is extremely tasty and (by Swiss standards) not very expensive either. Very nice service too

It is a nice restaurant in Engelbeeg, which can be reached on foot, via a moderately difficult mountain road, in about two hours. It cooks delicious local dishes and has affordable prices. I especially recommend the Alper Makaroni with apple puree.

Die allseits gelobten Engelberger Älplermagronen nicht probiert, geht die Speisekarte nicht über das 08:15-Niveau hinaus. Landschaftlich schön gelegen, nutzt die Flühmatt das Potenzial nicht, das Natur und lokal-regionale Produzenten zu bieten haben, einmal abgesehen von Käse und Butter für die Älplermagronen. Es scheint an Inspiration zu mangeln, was von anderen Bergbeizli in Engelberg nicht gesagt werden muss (beispielsweise Restaurant Alpenrösli und Gasthaus Stäfeli).

Small cozy place. The best meal to eat is a Swiss dish called "Aelpler Maccerone". Essentially, it is a dish with cheese, pasta, onions and applesauce. Other that they have fondue, a traditional Swiss dish of melted cheese eaten with bread and potatos.

Ich kenne das Restaurant Flühmatt schon lange und es ist ein sicherer Wert! War am Sonntag nach einer Biketour alleine unterwegs und habe mich im Restaurant Flühmatt mit Älplermakaronen und Apfelmuss und Vermicelles auf der Talfahrt verpflegt. War wie immer top und habe das Essen wie auch die idyllische Landschaft/Lage sehr genossen.

Great view but not good food, what we were served was "mac & cheese" with potato and optional applesauce. Not a place for a group of 30-40. Job trip fortunately did not see my money but left the place hungry.

Simply the best Älplermagronen. For over 20 years I have been climbing the Brunni just to enjoy a portion of Älplermagronen at the end in the Flühmatt. Never disappointed and always served in a friendly manner. Should actually get a Michelin star :)

Echtes Schweizer Bergrestaurant! Geradliniges, traditionelles und schmackhaftes Essen aus den Bergen. Sehr schöne Terrasse, wenn die Sonne scheint, was auch so war, als wir dort waren! Herrliche Aussicht auf die Berge rund um Engelberg! Aufmerksamer und freundlicher Service! Entspannte und gemütliche, aber lebendige Atmosphäre. Ein perfekter Halt bei einem (langen) Spaziergang auf der Brunni-Seite.

Ein kleines Schmuckstück auf der Sonnenseite Engelbergs. Die Speisekarte wie vor 30 Jahren. Kompakt und richtig urchig. Trotzdem wird einem soooo viel angeboten. Die Inhaberin welche die Gäste (ohne Notizblock) freundlich und gelassen bedient. Die Küche welche (seit meiner Kindheit) die besten Älplermagronen machen und auf den Tisch zaubern. Die Preise welche sehr angemessen sind. Die Terrasse mit Aussicht auf Engelberg und Titlis ist unbezahlbar. Liebes Flühmatt-Team => Hoffentlich noch lange so und Merci vielmals dass es Euch und die Flühmatt gibt.

Best Älplermagronen far and wide, super friendly hosts, great views - simply authentic! At least two visits during our annual holiday in Engelberg are “mandatory”.

We came upon this restaurant because we got lost on our walk. It was really nice to find the very pretty restaurant nestled in the hillside. We were given a very warm welcome and it was suggested that we tried their special Alplermagronen. It was a wonderful traditional dish of potato and pasta in a lovely cheese sauce topped with fried onions with a lovely apple sauce on the side. Such a special, warming lunch, we will be returning very very soon.

Ich kenne die Flühmatt jetzt schon seit Jahren und liebe die Älplermagronen. Ich habe noch nirgendwo bessere gegessen!!!Dieses Mal waren wir mit ein paar "Neulingen" da. Die Fahrt nach oben mit dem Taxi war die dichtem Schneefall echt ein Abenteuer. Oben wurden wir wie immer nett von der Besitzerin empfangen. Wir hatten alle Älplermagronen und brauchten mehrfach Nachschlag. Was ich jedem empfehle ist dann mit Fackeln wieder zurück ins Dorf zu gehen. Dauert zirka 30 Minuten. Es war wunderschön durch den verschneiten Wald zu laufen und dabei aufs Dorf zu schauen.

The Flühmatt is always my destination when hiking with my dog. The innkeepers and guests are always in a happy mood and the food is excellent. The Älplermagronen are, of course, legendary.

Die besten Älplermagronen weit und breit! Tolle Sonnenterrasse und freundliche Bedienung. Auch sehr leckere Fitnessteller und Pommes!

Tolles Restaurant mit einem atemberaubenden Ausblick auf die umliegenden Berge. Der Service ist top und das Fondue a la Discretion für 46.- pro Person ist absolut empfehlenswert. Man kommt mit regionalem Fleisch, darunter auch Wild, voll auf seine Kosten. Gin Sortiment könnte grösser sein :)

JEDER weiß wo man hin MUSS wenn man lecker essen will. Das Fluhmatt ist weithin bekannt für die Älplermagronen und die sind wirklich super. Am besten bestellt man eine große Schüssel und dann noch eine Fleischbeilage dazu. Wir (10 Personen) sassen abends allein in der Gaststube und es war sooo gemütlich. Die Chefin hat uns persönlich bedient und sämtliche Bestellungen OHNE BLOCK richtig serviert. RESPEKT. Das Restaurant besitzt die perfekte Mischung als Tradition und Moderne. Im Fakelzug (vor Ort erworben) ging es dann zu Fuß durch den leicht verschneiten Wald heimwärt.

Wir wurden hochgefahren, früher ging offenbar eine Bahn hoch. Zu Fuss sei es auch erreichbar. Kleine nette Räume und nettes Personal

Whether you come from Engelberg or Ristis/Brunni its absolute worth a stop at Fluhmat. The family is very nice, the place very beautiful and the food original swiss food. Their speciallity is Aplermagronen which is wonderful. We normally take the cablecar to Ristis and Brunni and walk to Fluhmat from there. A beautiful easy walk. Have been there for the last 20 years and enjoy a couple of hours there in a very friendly atmosphere.

Noch nie in meinem Leben habe ich so herrliche Aelplermakronen (Aelplermaggronen, Makaronen :)) gegessen. Die Portion war sehr gut bemessen, und auch das Apfelmus welches dazugehört, schmeckte außerordentlich fein. Der weisse Wein, (Johannisberg) dazu war ausgezeichnet, man kann aber auch roten Wein dazu trinken. Alle aus der Gruppe, die diese Speise gewählt hatten, schlllllemmten und konnten nicht aufhören zu rühmen, die Servirmethode im Holzgeschirr - leider weiss ich nicht wie man diese "Schüssel" nennt) sah sehr originell aus und sogar die Zwiebelschweize roch verlockend, auch wenn Zwiebeln nicht so ganz mein Ding sind.
