The place, especially the ambience, is always an experience. The ice cream from the gelateria was excellent but we ordered 2 scoops. The balls were half balls, you can't call them balls. The Easter egg hunt was a bit disappointing. As a reward for the children, a silly shock egg, not satisfactory. The free drink for the adults was very tasty! In our opinion, the employee was very exhausted and easily irritated. Despite everything, we will visit the garden again because of the great ambience and the good atmosphere!

We (7 people) went for fondue last week. The waitress was stressed from the start about taking the order even though there were still people missing. When the two arrived, they hadn't even sat down properly, let alone looked at the menu, and the question about what to order came up again. Then the question came as to whether we would like wine after the aperitif. Some said no and the rest said we'd sort it out between ourselves and see if we could drink a bottle together with dinner. Whoosh, she cleared away our wine glasses. We then ordered a bottle of wine with our meal. The answer from the waitress: Oh, now you want wine...? It went on like this all evening. The service was unfriendly from the start. I'm sorry, but when you leave several hundred francs behind, you can expect the service to be friendly. She then emptied the wine from the new bottle onto the wine from the aperitif. You never mix old and new. The fondue was very tasty, but it was amazing that those who ate a fondue in pairs (300g/person) struggled to get the caquelon empty and we (three of us - three "small" eaters) had the caquelon empty and looked at us wondering if that was really 300g/person in our pot. We weren't full. What a shame! The bill was then the next battle. Division - almost an impossibility. The waitress had a calculator and the invoice, which listed all the prices individually and in total for each product, but they simply wanted to stand in the way. The colleague who paid first rounded up to the nearest 10 to make it easier to calculate (his consumption + tip). That wasn't understood. It was explained to us that we now all had to pay like that and not based on what each individual had consumed... that wouldn't work anymore. So we made the remaining Twint payments in such a way that the final amount was exactly right to the nearest centime. As a result, the waitress ended up with no tip. We later evened it out between ourselves using Twint, because the last person to pay would otherwise have paid significantly more than the rest. Those at our table from the restaurant and hotel departments just shook their heads, like the rest. None of us understood what the problem would have been with deducting the paid items from the invoice and continuing to collect. At the end, the bill simply has to be paid and if the waitress has done her job well, you add a tip. Although we were otherwise Geroldsgarten fans, we were disappointed with the overall experience. Finally, something positive: The ambience was very nice, although a bit cramped. The oven in the middle gives the whole thing a certain cosiness, romance and charm. Conclusion: In the future, it would be better to go outside again in the summer, with self-service and friendly people behind the bar.

Payment method somewhat inflexible, e.g. partial invoice not possible. Otherwise good personal service. The benches in the tent are a bit close together and after 2 hours you can feel your back. Food is good, especially the onion sauce with bratwurst.

Really nice place to go in both winter and summer. You can spend in summer just time outdoors with friends (there are areas covered in case it rains. The environment changes in winter and there is a cozy wooden restaurant to have a fondue. Drinks are around 7-9 CHF and the food restaurant would be around 30 CHF per person. Important: in winter, the outdoor area is opened only from Thursday to Sunday

Really special ambience to enjoy .......but the recommendation is more towards an aperitif or after-work drink. In the winter room when we were eating fondue, it was "crammed" full and we (25 people) couldn't even really understand our vis a vis >>>>>>Noise level in the direction of Oktoberfest - a young colleague even put on earplugs >>> really bad . It's a shame that the whole beautiful ambience is no longer of any use. As a farewell, there was also a salty recalculation of "several hundred" francs, which was "in no way" comprehensible for us...

What a wonderful experience. Very cozy, relaxed and hippie place. The food was great. We ordered a bit too much. We ordered fondue for 4 people but didn't pay attention that it was 300gr per person so we ended up not eating everything. We ordered the traditional fondue with bread and potatoes. It was a bit salty for our taste but it was such a wonderful experience. Maybe because it was a bit warmer +10 degrees outside we didn't get the proper experience. Still this is a place with high demand. They had everything booked on Fridays and Saturdays till January. So for almost 3 months. They are also very systematic. They only have the waiters needed per night. So it can be that there are empty tables but not enough waiters to serve it.

We ate fondue in the winter room. The taste and the ambience were really great. My girlfriend has a gluten intolerance and therefore can't eat the bread at fondue. We asked if there was gluten free bread as an alternative. Unfortunately this wasn't available, which wasn't a problem for us and we then asked if there was another alternative e.g. Potatoes are available for allergy sufferers. The waitress then rudely pointed out to us that we would have to pay an extra charge of 7.00 per portion for potatoes. We found this a bit incomprehensible, that you can't be a little friendlier towards allergy sufferers, and we also found an additional charge of 7.00 totally exaggerated. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the entire stay. The concept is really great, but the implementation still needs some work.

In terms of quality, one of the better places for fondue in Zurich in winter. When entire companies are present, the noise level is immense. The ambience is well done, and the fireplace in the middle of the “tent” is also nice. The prices are, as usual for Zurich, high. Compared to recent years, the service is no longer at the appealing level it once was, although there are exceptions. The toilets aren't that great either. What's nice, however, is the extra wardrobe so that your coat doesn't smell like cheese. The outdoor area is also nice with fire bowls and the wooden, covered, colorfully lit terrace. Ms. Gerold's concept in the warm season is simple and effective: self-service for food and drinks and seating on several levels. The area is beautifully designed and they have managed to ensure that it is still “in” even after years. The prices are typical for Zurich and the food is rather simple. A place to be, talk and enjoy.

After asking some friends and also doing several searches, I came across this place to try fondue. Initially they made us sit among other unknown people, but since my friend has mobility problems we asked if they could let us change, and after a few minutes they very kindly made us sit in a better position. We then ask for the menu and the problems begin because the fondue is for at least two people but it didn't suit my friend because he is lactose intolerant and so we had asked if we could have a fondue for one person (which we had been strongly advised not recommended because there was the problem that it would have burned) and my friend the bratwurst but after a few minutes the waitress comes back saying that there was no more bratwurst, so my friend asks for a salad (which was in the appetizers section), but after a while another guy arrives and tells us that it wasn't possible to get a fondue for one and the other an appetizer, but he would have to get a mains course that had a higher price, something I've honestly never seen before because I don't see the obligation of having to force someone to eat something larger and which costs more to give them this greater profit, also because if someone is not hungry what can they do? Is he kicked out? Or if I had gone alone it wouldn't have been the same and they wouldn't have earned the cost of the salad anyway? Well in the end I was very nervous because honestly this thing had disturbed me a bit but my friend with great calm and flexibility still told me to get a fondue for two, just to let me try it and make me happy, even though he knew that I wouldn't he would have eaten for almost nothing. Oh well, this fondue comes with some bread, good, even if in the long run it gets boring, the flavor is a bit strong but good, but the thing that surprised me in the end was that even though we had left some of it and the fire was still on access, in any case it wasn't burnt or stuck at all, on the contrary, the pot was so non-stick that it was completely smooth and clean at the bottom, so I would even say they were a bit taken for a ride, just to sell the fondue for two people. Conclusions? Good fondue, yes, if it's a minimum for two I'd say it's a bit of an injustice, also because I had gone alone I wouldn't have eaten the rest of the options on the menu, which aren't even that interesting, the obligation to eat 2 mains, it was not written anywhere and it was very misleading as well as the question that fondue cannot be made for one person because it sticks and burns but when in fact this is not the case at all. Total 68 francs for fondue for 2 and water

Of course you'll find Vicafe around the corner - but on Sundays or in the evenings when Vicafe is closed, you'll be served instant coffee-like grits. Some already pre-mixed with milk. Of course that's enough for coffee schnapps, but why you don't have a portafilter machine is a mystery to me. That's just as input ;)

Used to be our favourite place but this time we were very disappointed. Booked a table for 7 for 20.15 - at 18.30. The waiter, or the manager? Let me know on the phone that they close at 22, which for us was fine. We arrived at 20.15 and waiting till 20.30 our friends that unfortunately were stuck in traffic. As soon as they join us, they come and tell us they we have five minutes to order. 30 seconds later - literally 30 seconds later!! They come again to tell us that the kitchen closes in 1 minute! So the five minutes became 1 min - ridiculous. The fondue arrives, and guess what, they forgot bread. 2 minutes waiting for them to realise we didn’t have bread. When we ask for more bread, they look at our table letting us understand that we have two baskets and it should be enough ? Then after we looked a bit shocked it brings it to us. The waiter comes and asks for desserts at 21.30 telling us AGAIN that they close at 22 (men we understood it, we came at 20.30 and you repeated already 5 times!!!) and that if we want desserts the people in the kitchen have to stay longer and he cannot send it home. Was it necessary for us to know it? If you’re closing at 22 you just ask for desserts without specifying it and hoping that people avoid to take it. You better close on Sundays or do not work on the evening if you have so unprofessional workers who just care to go home earlier. We had for the whole night the feeling that we were bothering them, and not guests. At least you’re not going to see us again, and our money either. But remember: if you don’t love your Job, you better change it. People who come having dinner at your place would like to feel welcomed and have a lot pleasant night, not to feel to bother you. Moreover: make it clear that you close at 22 but the kitchen closes at 20.40, because it wasn’t written on the website.

I give 2 stars for: - The outrageous price considering it’s average coffee and seriously CHF 6.50 for a Latte and SELF-SERVICE in an industrial area - no cash accepted - should be forbidden in a country of freedom (choice is freedom)

Alternatively designed garden with ramshackle charm. Friendly team ensures quick processing. While you eat you can watch the intense train traffic at Hardbrücke station (but there are also quieter places 😉

Fantastic winding place for a cozy get-together and chilling out. More suitable for drinking. Food (bowl) is moderate and little.

Positive atmosphere with ongoing improvements like new gelato shop. However, service could be better. Long wait times of 20-30 minutes are common, which seems inadequate for a venue of this size.

The atmosphere here is amazing. Garden-style, very cozy, perfect place to chat over beer. Beer costs you 7-8chf.

Totally overrated...we know that drinks in Switzerland are hoops, but Gerolds Garten takes the expensive thing to another level, adding that they are quite not tasty...a good place if you just want to appear status and give away the money

A garden in the middle of the city. I'd love to have a beer and something from the grill. After work, lots of people and therefore long waiting times.

Ms. Gerold's Garden is an absolutely great restaurant that puts a smile on my face every time I visit. The atmosphere is unique and welcoming, with plants everywhere and a relaxed, friendly vibe. What also makes this place really special is Bea and her outstanding service. Bea is a true pearl in this garden paradise. Your warmth and attentiveness to guests is remarkable. She always goes the extra mile to make sure you feel at home here. Her recommendations are always spot on, and she has this special ability to make the atmosphere even more pleasant. Together, Ms. Gerolds Garten and Bea create an irresistible combination of excellent service and a relaxed environment. Coming here feels like a little vacation every time. I cannot recommend this place and Bea enough. They make every visit an unforgettable experience.
