The top address in the region. The chicken with porcini mushroom risotto is to die for. Definitely a recommendation.

Very friendly and attentive staff. I also really liked the atmosphere! There are vegetarian and vegan dishes - I had bruschetta pomodoro & porcini, which I can highly recommend, as well as spaghetti aglio e olio. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The food was good, but unfortunately for us the price-performance ratio didn't match the service at all. The service was very disappointing. When the waiter cleared away our main course and dessert, we were not asked how the food was. We were not asked whether we would like a coffee for dessert or a grappa. We had 5 different waiters over the course of the evening. Very disappointing experience.

Excellent grotto. Excellent service, super friendly staff and quick service. Sensational card, fully recommended, would be happy to come again at any time. The grotto is very popular (logically!) so reservations are recommended.

Actually everything was good except the manager is rude, cheeky and arrogant.

We went for new year eve with family and friends. The decorations of the restaurant inside and outside are really nice really liked it. I think in summer is really nice to eat outside on the benches. They gifted a glass of Franciacorta. Speaking of the food: I took with my friend Bruschetta with Pomodoro and it was good for being a grotto. Cause I’m from Italy and not all the restaurants can do a good Bruschetta. My family took a soup and it tasted really good (it was off menu). As main I took sminuzzato with pappardelle and the sauce with mushrooms was so good I really enjoyed it, I found only that it was a little bit too salty but it was good and the meat too. My friend took a half chicken with sauce and fries and it’s was so soft and tasty (it’s their speciality). Desserts were really good too even ice cream. I would say totally was a really nice and tasty experience. They were really fast to deliver the dishes. Just one thing: a bottle of water for 9 CHF it’s really a lot, we’re not in Zürich.

A slightly different grotto. Beautiful garden, very large inside. Food was super tasty. I can only recommend it.

Always a good place to eat. Friendly staff, good food. The Swiss Lachs salmon is delicious, only on the menu a few times a year. Wide choice of side dishes. Many, too many tourists,..., too bad.

Everything was great except imported mineral water. Not up to date anymore. Switzerland has very good water sources.

The restaurant is very well known and therefore usually full and often, especially on weekends, unfortunately only occupied by German-speaking Swiss and Germans, there are hardly any real local Ticino people left. Whether you want that when you go to Ticino is up to you. In any case, the touch of the former "Grotto" flair is unfortunately a thing of the past, but at least the nice staff is still somehow "Italian", even if they also had to adapt their way of communicating long ago. Otherwise a great restaurant where you always get good food and good quality.

There were two of us and we came without a reservation. We were lucky and got a table when the doors opened at 6 p.m. For me it was the fourth time I was a guest here. And every time the restaurant was very well attended. Therefore, as a precaution, and especially if there are several people, it is advisable to make a reservation. Our order was half a Güggeli with vegetables and French fries, which I absolutely recommend😋 The Güggeli was nice and juicy and well seasoned. The vegetables are fresh and crunchy. Very fine. After a short time, we were provided with drinks and food. The service was very friendly and polite. For dessert we had a homemade tiramisu, which was also very tasty. The restaurant is large, quaint, chic, charming and cozy. There are also plenty of seats outside, almost all of which were occupied. There is free parking in front of the restaurant. We had a cozy evening. Big praise for the chefs, the good organization and the many hard-working staff.

Kindness and good food! Family dinner before spending the evening at Jazz Ascona, without reservations we try to go to the Grotto Broggini in Losone, we enter and kindly ask if they have room for three and without hesitation we are immediately accompanied to the table. Within a few minutes we order the aperitif and choose the dishes from the menu card. We ordered: First dishes: - Roast beef with side dishes of vegetables and roast potatoes - Braised beef cooked at low temperature with baked vegetables and roasted potatoes - Lamb chops with herbs with roasted potatoes and spinach Dessert: - panna cotta with strawberry coulis - homemade strawberry cake We were served quite quickly considering it was full for the week, the first courses were all very good, I would have eaten at least a couple more of the ribs, very tasty and perfectly cooked, but the portion was a bit small given the price paid. The braised meat melted on the palate and the roast beef as well, all very tasty. The desserts were all very good, the strawberry cake was exceptional, luckily we had already reserved it for the beginning of dinner when the waiter passed between the tables to show it. Very friendly service, helpful and kind waiters. The spacious grotto with outdoor and indoor seating under a pergola with stone tables and benches, ample outdoor parking. The prices are a little high for the tourist area near Ascona, but for the good food served it was worth it. However, it is already more of a restaurant than a typical Ticino grotto. We will definitely be back to enjoy other delicious dishes, thank you for the delicious dinner, we recommend it!

Overall, a satisfactory performance, the lunganigetta was (too) heavily seasoned and after the first drink you received little or no attention - it's a shame, it was much better in the past. Due to the large children's playground, it's better not to expect a quiet meal...

Simply great here! We were only there with children at around 9.30 p.m. and, as usual, we were served very well and the food was again excellent. We've been eating here again for 10 years now and it's always great to be here again. Congratulations to the Tesm🫶

The grotto is no longer an insider tip. I've been going there again and again for more than 20 years and my children also love pollo and porcini mushroom risotto. The bread served is also great. The whole thing takes place comfortably under chestnut trees on stone benches. Holiday mood is coming!

Food is always excellent and very busy

We have been placed right next to kids play ground. We had too much noise. The food was really good but the service was very bad. Our waiter was very rude. He did not smile and was very unhappily working. We had the impression that we had to eat and leave as soon as possible. He did not allow any gap between meals and served us very fast (almost like a fast food restaurant). Overall, we do not think we will go there again. I think it has lost its touch. It was very crowded and became a very normal restaurant rather than a local “grotto”.

Since Fred Feldpausch's death, the grotto has never been the same. Smaller portions and sometimes significantly higher prices. The staff is also rejuvenated. The same applies to the other companies (Nostrana, Sensi). For the time being, I am no longer a guest in these establishments. It's a shame that it turned out this way.

It's not like it used to be with Fred Feldpausch! Today only provit-oriented! Mass processing! Some of the staff were very friendly. Otherwise nicely located; lots of parking spaces available.

We arrived a day in the week without reservation. They gave us a lecture that we must book, one of the gentleman was ready to show us a table, then another one intervened and told us to wait 30min. If they would have been nice from the start, happy to wait, when they treat you like you are stupid, no thank you. You can keep the table, surely another restaurant will welcome us. —- We returned, risked ro go without reservation again and we were of course open to receive a negative answer, if full. This time they were very kind and accommodating, and the food is excellent. Thank you!

Friendly welcome. Big business, but hardly any waiting times. Chicken on a skewer with porcini mushroom risotto. Risotto delicious, chicken unfortunately a little dry and without sauce. Dessert and coffee were good. Entire stay including food 55 minutes... If you're looking for a quick dinner, this is the place for you.

The grotto enjoys a famous reputation in the region. Especially for his half grilled chicken. First impressions were very good, large parking spaces, well-staffed kitchen and restaurant staff, well-equipped dining area. We both ordered grilled chicken with fried potatoes and fries. Unfortunately, the reputation preceded the food; the chickens were rather small, the fries were not salted enough and not very crispy, and the fried potatoes were rather watery. The price was higher than other grottos. However, the staff were very friendly. So it can only be recommended to a limited extent.

The service was very good supported by a Welcome Drink and the main menu "Brasato con Polenta" was absolutly excellent. I visited many restaurants in the last years, and this one is one of the best! I can not imagine that someone can give less then 4 stars. Servizio eccellente e il menú "Brasato con Polenta" era ottimo!

Great restaurant in Losone. Very friendly staff and the food is a poem. Large restaurant, but there are smaller rooms that create a cozy atmosphere. Be sure to reserve!

Superb restaurant in Losone. I find that old-fashioned interiors give that unique touch of class, which gives you the impression of being at home. The menu mainly offers local dishes, but there is no shortage of menus for the most difficult customers... Children. Average prices being in the Locarno area. Convenient and large parking right in front of the restaurant.

Tavern atmosphere, the waiters don't stop - the restaurant is full - very good overall (even if my mushroom rampon salad was swimming in vinaigrette). Homemade chicken with tender and tasty herbs (just a little too salty). Meat otherwise good. Desserts ok. In short, a nice address near Locarno. Value for money ok.
