Typical Swiss food, they served us without reservation. The staff was very nice and the food was great. I don't give it 5* because they charged us 11.8 CHF for 1 liter of water that we ordered from the tap.

First Swiss meal of my Swiss cuisine career: rosti is essentially just a big hash brown with cheese and you can never go wrong with some hash. Hearty is the best adjective to describe traditional Swiss cuisine, try it out at least once.

We stopped in for lunch on a rainy day. Small cute place, very Swiss. We took two dishes of the day - delicious. We were the only tourists, but we were treated like “one of our own.” Warm, cozy, clean and tasty. Highly recommend.

A small establishment with its own atmosphere. There is an excellent menu with a variety of traditional dishes. The staff is very friendly and attentive; you can see from their facial expressions and smiles that visitors are always welcome, this is very conducive. The food is amazing, it was worth every penny. This was our first time trying Swiss cuisine and we really enjoyed it. It was a gastronomic delight! I don’t remember the name, but I definitely remember the taste of a wonderful soup, an unforgettable dish of potatoes with vegetables in cheese and a salad with Feta cheese. A traditional pub with really good food. The Château Lapin is located in the middle of Basel's old town. We had the meatloaf (for 2 people) and were very satisfied. Served in a pan with vegetables and spaetzle and a whole jug of sauce separately! A salad first, also served in a bowl and included in the price. Everything was wonderful.

Very cozy place with a pleasant atmosphere and polite and sweet waitresses. The food was extremely tasty and I would recommend anyone visiting Basel to try the Hasenburg rösti there. If you don’t drink alcohol, like me, then please try the local Swiss cola. I will definitely visit this place next time I’m in Basel.

Restaurant recommended in one of the guides taken from the hotel and located in the center a stone's throw from MarktPlaz. Not a huge menu but with typical dishes, what we were looking for. We choose 3, all with the famous Rosti: stew with mushrooms, liver in white wine and another with vegetables and cheese. The meat in the stew is excellent as are the mushrooms delicious and the sauce in the dish goes wonderfully with the Rosti. The best dish. Excellent even if in second place is the liver in wine, here too the Rosti should be enjoyed with the sauce present. The dish with the vegetables is less convincing, as they are tasteless and placed haphazardly. The Rosti here however is served with a cheese fondue on top and is really good. There are outdoor tables, a nice location and very friendly staff. High prices, as in almost all restaurants in the area. 80cl water, 9 euros, shocking.

A traditional Basel pub that is no longer one. Anyone who skimps on opening times during Carnival in Basel should be ashamed of themselves.

Good starter salad at lunch, nicely dressed. Service was good. Pasta was well cooked and the rosti was lovely and cheesy with a good quality prosciutto. In general not seasoned to my taste but salt and pepper available. Wine is reasonably priced...for Switzerland. A number of reservations which appeared not to show leaving us with a table in front of the door while the restaurant was not completely full.

Delicious food in this Swiss restaurant with Swiss cuisine! It was a bit on the pricey side! But the food was so delicious, it was as if an angel was walking on my tongue.... Recommended!

Yes, I do believe I have enjoyed a true Swiss experience!

The food was averagely expensive according to Zurich standards. The service was top and very friendly. The oven vegetables were also very good, but the rösti wasn't really crispy and unfortunately it wasn't seasoned at all. But you got pepper and salt, which made it work again.

Very friendly service. The Läberli and Rösti we ordered were first class. Wine recommendation (South Tyrolean red wine) was delicious. Only the dessert (mousse au chocolat) didn't suit my taste. It was somehow reminiscent of packet powder, even though the service employee assured that the mousse was freshly prepared by the chef himself and was very popular with the guests. Addition after visit from November 22nd, 2022: Starter of nut salad with bacon cubes and egg very tasty. Main course 'Suuri Läberli with Rösti' remains highly recommended. Red wine 'Sangiovese' goes well with it and is good. Tried 'Mousse au Chocolat' again for dessert. Slightly more digestible than the last visit but still far from good preparation. Therefore tested according to the 'Crème brûlée' recommendation. But this dessert is also far from top preparation. Nevertheless: All in all, a very recommendable, cozy restaurant with fantastic service. The restaurant was fully booked on Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m.

Rustically furnished traditional restaurant with pub character. Nevertheless, our lunch menu (saltimbocca with risotto) was excellent and the service was top notch. There is always a soup or salad to accompany the diverse menu.

This family restaurant gets 5 stars, for sure. The concept is likeable: namely, homemade traditional dishes made from high-quality ingredients on a small but fine menu. The cozy atmosphere and the homemade dishes warmed our Basel soul on a cold December evening. The warm service was also world class.

I go there every time I pass through Basel. They make the best Rösti in the world, always with great portions and excellent service. Go to the courtyard side, the atmosphere is nicer and you have a view of the fountain.

Nice weather, you could sit outside. The Hasenburg restaurant is a place of nostalgia. Good traditional cuisine, very attentive, friendly staff, the food tastes great (especially the Leberli). The inside is also something that is sold. Clean and groomed. By the way, you should bring your appetite, the food on your plate is enough to satisfy your hunger

Our experience was MAGNIFICENT, infinite thanks to the restaurant and its team. Great place to eat in the middle of the city of Basel. Tables outside are quiet and a bit away from the large crowds of people. Food very good, but rather expensive.

On a hot summer evening you feel like cold food, so head to the Hasenburg. Sausage salad with fries. They have it on the menu, but only for lunch. There is no exception for evenings. Completely inflexible. It seems like a huge problem to offer this simple dish in the evening. We're just in a different place.

The service was good and the waitress really nice, the iron steak was not well done, we did not enjoy that as much, the rosti was good though.

The food and the atmosphere in the Hasenburg was very great... the restaurant places emphasis on old-style vegetables, which I personally like very much. The staff was friendly and we were able to find out insightful information about certain types of vegetables. a small drawback, but that's not a big deal...it just bothered me a bit: Since the counter is quite open and the employees are clearly visible, it's a bit strange when everyone stands together and is on the phone. For purely visual reasons, this should take place either below the counter, i.e. hands down or around the corner... nevertheless, they didn't make us wait once, so no star deduction. we will be back

En pleine vieille ville de Bâle, nous nous sommes arrêtés dans ce petit restaurant bien connu des locaux. Décor vieille brasserie mais bien entretenu, une carte assez courte. Bien accueillis par une serveuse parlant un peu français. Confort minimaliste.A la carte, des plats de brasserie simples et copieux. Nous avons bien sûr commandé les röstis, spécialité de la maison, l'un aux champignons, l'autre avec une boule de Bâle. Belle portion, à la fois croustillants à l'extérieur et fondants à l'intérieur. On accompagne notre mets par une Weissbier.Bref, un lieu chaleureux, prisé par les locaux, où l'on sert une cuisine locale et sans recherche quelconque, mais oh combien délicieuse.Prix assez chers, service aimable.

Wir waren im Juni letzten Jahres zu Gast in der Hasenburg.Leider hat uns der Aufenthalt nicht so gut gefallen, wie in den Jahren zuvor. Corona-bedingt konnten wir nur in einem recht späten Zeitfenster einen Tisch reservieren. Pünktlich angekommen konnte man unser Reservierung zunächst nicht finden.Verwunderlich, hatte ich zwei tage zuvor noch mit einem Mitarbeiter telefoniert und die Reservierung bestätigen lassen.Zum Zeitpunkt unserer Ankunft waren nicht alle Tische im Innenhof besetzt. So haben wir nach einer kurzen Diskussion dann doch noch einen Tisch auf Terrasse erhalten. Die zuständige Mitarbeiterin war nicht wirklich freundlich und sehr wortkarg.Unsere Bestellung wurde aufgenommen. Kein freundliches Wort, keine Empfehlung für ein Tagesgericht, nur die gerade notwendige Konversation wurde getätigt. Die Vorspeise hatte eine "ungewöhnliche Konsistenz". Ihr Geschmack war keinesfalls von frischen Tomaten geprägt. Die Entscheidung -auf meine Empfehlung hin- ein Rösti zu bestellen war ebenfalls keine gute. Die Rösti waren wenig gebräunt und schon gar nicht "goldbraun". Der Käse, mit dem sie gratiniert wurden, war nahezu neutral im Geschmack. Die Portion so mächtig, dass wir nicht mehr als gerade die Hälfte der Rösti essen konnten. Danach waren wir mehr als gesättigt.Die Hasenburg hatte wir als eine Restaurant in Erinnerung, in dem man gehobene, gut-bürgerliche Speisen genießen kann.Wie unser wenig erfreulicher Besuch im Zusammenhang einzuordnen ist können wir nicht beurteilen.Vielleicht haben wir einfach "nur Pech" gehabt.
