It is incredible that in the century we are in and in a city like Zurich they do not let in a couple of men... not men... only women... this the day after Women's Day, machismo, homophobia, racism. They are the symbol of this place. You can't be more retrograde... I'm sorry even for the women who come in promoting something like that. Reportable in any country that takes equality and human rights into account.

Arrogant bouncer/cashier, otherwise good techno club, great music, lovingly furnished, friendly security & bar staff

been there on 31st Dec 2023 and on 1st Jan 2024 and on 4th Jan, so 3 times in total and i had zero issues. everyone is nice and friendly at all times. drinks prices vary. means double gin on ice with soda water is somewhere between 14-16-28-29 CHF depends on taste of bartender how fit he sees you i think they just wanted to slow me down. i am into disco dancing with people and rave and that goes well there.

Cool techno club on 3 floors. Interesting people and good line up. Ambiance is well designed. Sound is really pleasantly good. Light is very dark and has room for improvement. But it somehow fits. Location is easy to reach.

For me the best club in Zurich! It's always worth a trip there :)

It's sad how stingy the bartenders and the "chef" were. I put a fresh drink at the bar for a moment, then it was cleared away... so the entrance fee was already overcharged enough (45.-) and then I complained, no understanding... anyone can say no. Arrogant boss. Otherwise the people are nice and the atmosphere is good!

Dear Hive team, Today at 12:30 a.m. I lined up with a group of people. We were a group of around 30 students - mostly men, but also six women. We wanted to go party one last time before the strenuous learning and exam phase. Unfortunately, the blonde lady at the entrance (bouncer?) turned us away on the grounds that there were too many men. To this day I still find it incomprehensible and reprehensible why a group (as described above) would be rejected just because they are mostly men. Here the principle of equality is completely disregarded and men are arbitrarily discriminated against! I really have to shake my head here. However, it doesn't just apply to this club. Apart from that, it doesn't make sense for you in terms of sales to turn away a larger group? We would have left money for a drink or two. Of course I don't want to put all the blame on the blonde bouncer. I can imagine that the owner of this club introduced this selection process. Finally, all I can say is that our evening was ruined. From what I can tell from other reviews, we weren't the only ones with this incident. I will never visit this misandric club again. Until something changes, I prefer to go to the Plaza on a Thursday evening as a student.

Everyone had a great night! The staff was helpful and smart at all points. Great sound, beautiful club and very pleasant guests. Always happy to come back!

Mis first and last time, I wanted to come into this club with three friends but security told me "that I don't fit in this club" even though we were on the guest list. My friends came in but I couldn't get in because of the color of my skin!

Staff extremely unfriendly both at the cloakroom and at the exit. They reprimanded us several times for absolutely no reason and treated us as if we were all completely drunk. Had 0 understanding and 0 patience. Accordingly, 0/5 stars from me. Just for that reason it's not recommended at all.

After numerous dissatisfied comments, I decided to go to the club and was very happy with the night! I was let in shortly after 11 o'clock in the evening without any problems and without a queue. All the employees were extremely nice and the visitors were considerate of one another. Of course, most importantly, the music was very, very good and the atmosphere was therefore simply great. I will definitely come again next time I visit Zurich

Techno was very monotonous and they were almost not allowed in because of the shirt top.

I mean, you can still argue about the looks, but the Bouncers should have at least an IQ of a yogurt. Or?

This club in one word: terrible. The service is the worst. The staff is only kind to women, has no respect for (potential) customers and treats people like animals. Even though it’s a popular club and a lot of people want to go there, the people who work there don’t deserve it. They should be educated on how to treat people and be a good person.

We were 2 women and 3 men and were turned away because of the poor ratio of women to men. We asked the two women behind us if they could come in with us and they only agreed if we paid the entrance fee for them. We said no, let them in and waited on the side for another troop. One of the women we didn't want to pay the entrance fee for and got through yelled "Loosers" at us. The bouncer decided that the women were allowed in and we weren't, even though they had completely misbehaved. Everyone around was stunned by the situation. The way the admission policy works here is unacceptable.

Were here for the first time yesterday. We had no problem getting in as a couple. There is free water at every bar and we had a great night.

Bi god the biggest dirty club. The bouncer is the biggest.. anyway it's always like 50% either bad or bad, the lie where after a problem was sent out, but it's lowmey chillifr squad where a beautiful abig wants to chunt ned without a problem.

Homophobic and if you are not Swiss, good luck. After my terrible experience I decided to check the comments and my suspicions turned out to be true and something people are experiencing. I was in the line with my boyfriend and when it was our turn to get in the guy in the entrance looked at us in a strange manner - he asked us why we were getting in so late - I responded that I was visiting from Barcelona, and getting in at 1:30 was pretty early for me, I apologized and told him I didn’t know I had to get in sooner? Once he heard “Barcelona” he said “oh nono, sorry, I can’t let you guys in, try it again later?” Later? You just told us it was already late? Never felt so judged in my life. I genuinely believe this place should be investigated. Being gay and from another country seems to be a problem to the doorman. It’s wild. The people in front of us weren’t even wearing costumes but obviously they were Swiss and got in.

It was my first time here to see madkatz and I have to say it was super cool in terms of the music, the people and the atmosphere. Only the prices are a bit high for my taste. I would still like to come back.

My far the best club in Zurich!! The only thing they need to fix is the amount of people smoking inside. It really ruins an amazing evening and no one gives a damn

Music on September 8th It really wasn't convincing at all... otherwise a very good shop, hence 3/5 stars. But 40CHF was just way too much for this music… what a shame!

My colleague and I stood in line and all eight people in front of us were allowed in. We were cordoned off very “casually” and without any explanation they just said: “Not today.” … with a grin. No greeting, no deportation… unfortunately it came across as very provocative. Bouncer thought she was standing in front of Berghain?? I would expect a little more respect, even if it was probably because we didn't have any female companions with us (which we only found out from the others who were standing around outside). The last time for us.

We had a 2-hour journey and were turned away at the entrance for no reason. We were there at 11:00 p.m., the party started at 10:00 p.m., so there were almost no people there. Conclusion: My friends and I will never go to this club again. The door control is unfriendly and not accepting in my opinion.

Great club with three different levels of entertainment. Service is great, never have to wait too long for drinks.

The young lady at the entrance appeared drunk and aggressive. When my best friend was let in with her boyfriend, she started insulting my boyfriend personally and saying things for no reason... We then asked security what the problem really was. He told us that he also didn't understand who she lets in and who she doesn't. That she doesn't let people in because she doesn't like her chain, etc. It's also not full or has too many men, he stopped looking for the meaning behind it a long time ago, but unfortunately he can't change it because she decides. I'll never go there again! The behavior of the employees at the entrance was really very inappropriate!

They only let women in and they only let guys in if they are white and have a female companion. My white friend came in with a woman but I didn't get in despite being accompanied by a woman. It's a shame what has become of the club.

If you enjoy yourself they try to kick you out. Screw the useless bouncers. I have been all over the world (Europe, Asia, Africa and US) and they never ever they tried to push you out just because you are dancing without bothering anyone, especially for such an expensive place. They have no clue, fire them (04/03/2023) and go to Alte Kaserne instead. I will never spend money here again

My first visit to the Hive was very pleasant. Grundton with Eelke Kleijn and because I really wanted to experience that, I was there about 10 minutes before opening (entry from 11 p.m.). It wasn't a problem getting in. Pleasant ambience, great sound, relatively pleasant customers, relatively friendly service. I can't really agree with the negative comments here.

What a dirty mess!! The securitas all started making out with each other out of nowhere. The blonde woman who did the selection said in a really disgusting way that we wouldn't get in because I spoke a foreign language, and she said that they don't let foreigners in.

Once upon a time, once upon a time, there was a dance club. Hive. There is a floor called the dance room. There is no dancing there!! There is a nice group cuddle. People stand on each other's feet on the dance floor. If you can still call it a dance hall... I don't know. Soon you'll have to stack people in the Hive. Things used to be different. At some point there will be an end to admission, it's no fun for anyone like that. I hope the message has reached the nightlife scene. It's still fun in the Hive, even when it's too crowded.

It was really good and would go back in a heartbeat. There are only two things I would complain about: 1. Provide drinking water. Especially at 28 degrees 2. the toilets were ok, but at some point you couldn't wash your hands and the urinals overflowed like fountains.

After reading horrible reviews about waiting for 2 hours and not getting in, especially if you are a single older guy (my case) I decided to take my chances and go early, right when they open, so they did let me in. And it was great, three floors with great techno, good sound system, people circulating, nice all together. However, some reviews mentioned that there is racial profiling at the door, so it was predominantly white crowd inside, but not exclusively. Was it because of bouncers, I don't know. Don't overdress, it's not that kind of place

If your a looking for a nice edm club and having a good night, this is definitely the place to go. The club opens at 11 pm. You’ll have to pay an entrance and probably wait in the line if you go really late. There are three different floors or rooms to dance!

Cool people, cool music (you have to like it though) and a good atmosphere. But at 4:00 a.m. the fun ends (on Thursday, was only there that day), and they make no exception. Understandable.

Terrible, garbage place and trash workers. Hipster night themed, I came in with a friend (female), I was dressed within the code with jeans, boots and fancy hairstyle and they stop me, allowing only my friend female to get in. Not recommended, they just do the **** they want. When I asked why I wasn't “hipster" enough, they called security to kick me out. Trash is better, workers there are pure human garbage with no respect.

I love the club, but it's annoying how big the difference is: girls come at 21 and men at 23. There are always a lot of old men inside. They should accept men who are at least 22 years old. The blonde girl who served us at the entrance this Saturday the 13th, SUPER TERRIBLE. And they should put up curtains so there isn't so much light after dark.

I just arrived from US to this beautiful city 2 days ago and my friends wanted to take me to Hive. All my friends got in but me. The lady at the door kept talking in German and refused talking in English, i told her that i wish i could speak the language but I can’t. Guys behind the line were so nice and able to translate. I asked the reason, of course no answer. I just wanted to know the reason so it won’t happen next time. I felt little embarrassed. There is also no sign or whatsoever at the entrance stating they have the right to refuse anybody.

Biggest admission clown policy in Europe! The blonde lady at the entrance selects according to her mood. Depending on the lady's form on the day, you will be allowed in or not. They should thoroughly rethink their admission policy. You are and never will be Berghain. It is and remains “just” the Hive in Zurich. It's a real shame that one person can destroy the entire image of an otherwise so good club! As long as nothing changes, I and my friends will no longer visit the Hive!

I really like the parties in the club, but unfortunately I have to agree with the negative comments about the bouncers. Why are they so unfriendly and sometimes aggro? As a woman, I feel really uncomfortable every time I stand in line and that initially spoils the joy. Security should convey security and not fear/arbitrariness.

If you're looking for an atmosphere of people dressed in black who rave to hard techno in the Hive, you're in the wrong place here. For me personally, this is not a techno rave place with underground quality. For fancy citizens who enjoy electronic dance music, Hive is certainly a good choice. Bar staff can be friendly or arrogant.

Weird, relaxed, urban - we are open to a lot of things, a colorful and good-humored bee colony has more fun; -)” Luckily we were quirky, relaxed and urban enough for the bouncer, lucky us! After the cotton shirt of the guy behind us in line, according to her, wasn't her vibe and the really nice guy was sent home with his buddy, we left again. Pretentious cosmopolitanism and hypocritical diversity talk wasn't worth 30 francs to us.

I’ve been once a while back, but I recently had friends who were denied entry into the club/ not given a rational reason. After my friends were dismissed they willingly allowed other guys/girls into the club who were no different besides having a Swiss background. While it’s hard to prove this as racial or ethnic profiling, it’s seems like others in reviews have also seen similar patterns. As such, the club should be reported and reprimanded, maybe even escalate this to authorities. Karma will one day bite back at this “fun/hip” club as its on a downward spiral. Anyone reading this review should really rethink whether they want to support an establishment that doesn’t respect and value differences in backgrounds or looks.

The club looks nice from the outside. Good recommendation for a short and cheap party night. Recommendation is not a man or a female companion. We would be happy to make the journey from Bern to Zurich again just to be politely rejected! 🌝

Good club, good DJs, friendly staff. You don't have to wait too long in line at the bar to order your drink either. Depending on the DJs, they have either one, two or three floors open. It's worth checking out on Instagram in advance what kind of program is coming up at the Hive. Be careful, on weekends you can enter as a woman from 21 and as a man from 23. I like that the clientele at the Hive is between the late 20s and mid 30s. I never had any problems getting into the Hive. But one time it was strange, the selectionist looked at me and said “not today”. This seemed to me as if the Hive was trying to imitate Berghain in Berlin, which in my opinion the Hive didn't need to do.

Great club! I like being there, the people are in a good mood and funny and the crew is always very nice to me. A bit of a long wait to get in and at the bar but the good sound (Rocket) makes you forget the time. I feel comfortable there, I'm already looking forward to the next Rocket Party ;P

We thought it was pretty bad. The dance floor on the third floor was supposed to be open from 11 p.m., we left shortly after midnight and it was still closed. Nobody could say why. While queuing for the coat check, an employee opened a door and slammed it straight into my friend. Didn't say anything, just looked arrogant. We were standing right there because a security guard completely cornered those waiting in line because the line was so long and now curved around. Without exception, all of the security staff were incredibly unfriendly and rude, for example shouting at people as they passed in the hallway and shooing them away for no reason, even if no one was in the way. As we were leaving, we wanted to go out normally, but the security lady really hissed at us that the exit was on the other side. We couldn't have known, there's no sign where it says and it was the first time we were there (and the last 🙃). The cloakroom and bar staff were at least very friendly. DJs, well, we didn't even hear everyone who was supposed to be playing during that period. Such a failure. I actually want my money back for this bankruptcy.

At the last student party, some of us couldn't get in. Completely without reason. Reason from the bouncer: you don't suit me. Despite Legi and ticket. They shouldn't have student parties anymore. Next time just Plaza!

The techno club Hive in Zurich is just a five-minute walk from Hardbrücke train station and offers several floors with a really fancy interior. The DJs and sound system are great and create a fantastic atmosphere. The cloakroom is well organized and the staff is friendly and helpful. The entrance fee can be a bit expensive at times, but it's definitely worth it considering what you get for your money. There is an age limit for entry, men from 23 and women from 21, but this is common for clubs of this type.

Just disappointing. Denied entry because of skin color?

Security is the the worst in this club! We got confronted for no reason at all and they didn't inform us why we got kicked out. We were there and enjoying our time and suddenly they confronted all of us, which is a no go to me!

Racist people that won't let you in for no reason, just for the nonsense "I am not feeling it" reason. We were not drunk, we were not doing anything. Second time that happens to me, and even speaking in full german. This people is just straight out racist and will not let you in if you are not full white or swiss-looking. I will not recommend anyone not swiss to go in.

Far too many people were allowed in. It was no longer possible to move through the corridors to get to the other floors, and it was massive at minus -1 degrees. We wouldn't visit again now. The burgers and fries downstairs were very good!

I had previously given 5 stars, but unfortunately I have to change mine: since then it's been 0 stars for me... A friend of mine just went in because of a fur jacket and so many things. They just went in with a leather jacket or other boring ecological ones things... That doesn't make any sense and, above all, that the boss is not at all tolerant of different opinions about an environmentally friendly world and sustainability makes me so sad... I'm vegan myself and I'm trying my best for a better world, and she simply replied that she was disappointed in me as a vegan... I've never met such an unfriendly person at work...

Worst club in Zurich! We (2 men) wanted to go to the Hive on a Thursday evening. Were turned away for no reason and not treated with any respect by the arrogant bouncers. I will never even remotely consider going to that club again, and I'm not helping you either.
