Hotel Alpenblick in Grindelwald

Recommended for those who want to stay at a good price. (Early March) I think this is the cheapest accommodation in Grindelwald. ・There is a bus from Grindelwald Station, but the last bus (around 20:00) is early, so in the worst case, it will take 21 minutes on foot. ・The toilet, shower, and washroom were shared and very clean. ・Some rooms have doors. Our room is not separated by a door, only a curtain. Although we trust Swiss people and tourists, our luggage is at risk of being stolen in the worst case scenario. There are four beds in one room, and in our case, the three of us used two rooms. Also, there are no electrical outlets in the room, so you will have to use a shared electrical outlet. ・It was like a buffet style with breakfast included. We stayed for 2 nights for about ¥8,200 per night.

This is a review for the restaurant only. My wife and I honeymooned in Grindelwald, and our place was one bus stop away. Hotel Alpenblick is just off the downtown strip, so we didn't see it for the first few days. Trust me -- it is worth leaving the downtown area to come here, both for the quality and price of the food. We ate here for 3 dinners -- two in a row and then one coming all the way from Wengen on our last night. The food was fresh and local -- I ate off the seasonal menu twice, which includes local game. The menu offered a lot of variety, and the tastes were well thought out and well put together for each of the 5 meals we tried. The barley soup and cream of ratatouille soup, the Cocotte Alpenblick, the pheasant with sauerkraut, the homemade icecreams and sorbets, and the chocolate tart were all highlights of our whole honeymoon. The most surprising aspect was the cost of the food. We expected a high price for ingredients of this quality and meals of this caliber, but this was more affordable than any of the restaurants in downtown Grindelwald or Wengen and gave much larger portions. For 2 starters, 2 meals, and 2 (or 3) desserts, it cost us 81, 110, and 90 Francs. The staff were friendly and easy to speak with. They answered our many questions patiently. Everything about our experience dining at Hotel Alpenblick was positive, and I cannot recommend it more highly.

Stayed at the Hotel Alpenblick for 6 days. Overall, it was a good place to stay, but with the potential to do some things better. The breakfast was ok. However, very one-sided and always the same. We would recommend it again.

We loved staying here, we made a last minute booking and it was the most affordable place to stay for 2 nights when we wanted to go. They were so kind all throughout our stay. The perks/benefits/discount card they give you is awesome, you can get discounts for First and even the St Beatus Caves in Interlaken. They had breakfast included which was honestly really good! They have a restaurant on site but we didn’t check it out. I really loved this visit and I would highly recommend staying here! We had a queen bed but it was made of two twins so friends could definitely stay here comfortably. There’s a huge wrap around balcony on the top floor which we really enjoyed!

Great service with a very friendly team - both in the restaurant and at the front desk. They have an easy to access ski room. Rooms were very tidy, ours had access to the large terrace with a view of the Eiger.

Very good price/performance ratio. The breakfast is very good and included in the price. Free parking directly in front of the hotel. Bus stop also directly in front of the hotel. With the guest card that you receive from the hotel, you have attractive discounts in the village, such as ski and snowboard rental costs, free public transport, discounted entry to the sauna area in the sports center and much more. My cousin and I had a wonderful stay. For a good pizza we recommend the Ristorante Pizzeria Da Salvi. If you want to let off some steam, we recommend the avocado bar or espresso bar, where you can have fun going back and forth until dawn.

This is now my second favorite restaurant in the world (only 2nd to Farmers, Fishers, and Bakers Brunch in DC). PLEASE make time to eat here! We went 3 times during our short honeymoon in Switzerland because we loved it so much. I was feeling absolutely miserable, and this food was like a big hug from my grandma. It was cozy, delicious, and, most importantly, it left my body feeling SO good. Not to mention, for the quality of the food, this was the most affordable place we found in Grindelwald. We got a soup each day, and the garlic bread and the barley soup and the ratatouille soup were delicious. The “Cocotte Alpenblick” was my favorite and they bring it out in an old-school pot and put it on a fire. It was delicious! My husband got the pheasant which is hunted locally and even ate all the sauerkraut which is unheard of. Then you top that with their warm chocolate tart or there many homemade ice creams and sorbets and you’re in heaven. We got the chocolate tart each day and never tired of it. Getting a flight of the ice creams was a special treat. Our favorite was the plum. On top of the food being incredible, the staff was great and friendly. We saw the same people each day and enjoyed everyone. They were attentive, but not bothersome. They also humored us as we tried to pronounce some of the menu items. But the price was the most surprising. For two starters, two meals, and two desserts we paid about $90 total which was a splurge for us, but compared to everything else in Grindelwald it was cheap. If we really just stuck with our main course, it would have been totally affordable for great food and service. Overall, this was our favorite place in Switzerland. I’m so grateful we found this place. You should definitely go!
