Hotel Sonne in Amden

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and plentiful. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and lots of space. We were there at night and had a nice view of the valley. During the day she will probably look beautiful. I can only recommend it, we will definitely go to the Hotel Sonne in Amden again.

The food was very good. We had a wonderful view on the route and the service was also very attentive and super nice.

I can only rate the restaurant as we just stopped for a quick lunch on the terrace. Very nice view for the tables outside. Food was delicious and came really fast which was an important factor as we were hungry after a nearby hike. The menu has a QR code and you can conveniently check all dishes online.

We had lunch on the terrace. The service was friendly and accommodating, we are in Amden. The food was very tasty and enough for everyone, including our hungry ones. The prices are typical for Switzerland. The view, simply brilliant. The view of the mountain panorama from the Leistkamm, over the Flumserberge to Glarnerland.... Great every time. It was a pleasure.

Price-performance ratio is not right. Rooms are very sparsely furnished and not clean. Staff unfriendly and food mediocre. The view is great and was the only good thing about this stay.

Large room with a beautiful view...equipment is getting old. For me personally, a judgment rises and falls based on the friendliness of the staff... there really should be some work done on how guests are welcomed... what a shame!

The food was okay but nothing special. The salad dressing was very tasteless. The only friendly greeting in this restaurant is the dog. Otherwise the staff is very unfriendly. Wouldn't go there again!

We were on the terrace yesterday Saturday (9/3/22) in the afternoon with a group of 13 people. Unfortunately we weren't greeted at all. We just asked a question about the ice cream menu. Unfortunately, the service staff didn't understand our language! The place was empty. Only 4-5 people. outdoor. Service staff unfortunately unfriendly, stressed?, complicated, not an expert... Wouldn't work anymore. A pity. It was a nice hike with an unpleasant ending and we left a big chunk behind.

Home-style cooking and pizzas on the menu.

We were able to spend two days and nights in the sun, received a friendly and uncomplicated welcome, and there is a parking lot right across the street. The views from the rooms are phenomenal. If you open the huge windows, you sit directly in nature. You can see Lake Walen and the mountains from your bed, the rooms are clean and the price is right. In the evening we ate on the terrace, it was delicious and dessert was easily included. I recommend earplugs for sensitive ears, and if you like it very dark, you should bring an eye mask. The rooms are quiet, but “soundproof” ;-) as the saying goes. The breakfast is lavish and regional, tip top. The area is beautiful, if we're in the area again, it won't be the last time we've been there. Merciii

During our stay in Amden, probably the only restaurant open after 7 p.m. Delicious food, large portions, very nice service.

The food is good as is the price performance for Swiss standards. We were served by the boss, actually very good and efficient and also friendly. The only point is that when I entered the restaurant I said “Grüezi mitenand” and the boss just said “yes?” yes, do you have a table or not? but whatever I would go again, we are human and not everyone is the same so some people can be a little stricter. All in all, if I found myself there again it would definitely be worth considering eating there again. the food is good. no question. and the view speaks for itself.

Nice little family hotel and perfect for cyclists and mountain bikers. eBikes can be charged outside and for overnight guests inside. Breakfast was good and filling. Dinner menu has a good variety. Half pension is available for 30CHF (2022). Best of all is the breath taking view from the restaurant terrace and the rooms! Definitely recommended!

Overnight stay in an outdated hotel, room spartan, tasteless, loveless, breakfast not worth mentioning - fits with the unpleasant overall impression. Most negative point: The taciturn, harsh and unfriendly staff. You don't feel welcome as a guest. (Completely different is the almost exuberantly friendly description on the website). The only positive thing: the beautiful view. Overall, unfortunately very disappointing.

Veal cordon - bleu was good price also ok. The salad menu is too big and in this case too expensive at 6.00 francs. Menu salad should be small and then included.

Nice small but nice hotel, the rooms with panoramic windows are very quiet and have a wonderful view of Lake Walen and the Glarus Alps. The food was wonderful, we really enjoyed the red and white wine from the region. Very nice and courteous hosts and the service staff were extremely friendly and very considerate. I can highly recommend the hotel!

Corona-Take away: Wir haben an 2 Abenden das Nachtessen bestellt- super !! Cordon bleu, Schnitzel, Rahmschnitzel sind top und die Pommes sind der Hammer und auch in der Styro- Box wirklich knusprig. Gemischter Salat Schnipo oder Rahmschnitzel in der Ferienwohnung auf dem Teller serviert : fast wie im Restaurant

Supper tolle Lage von der Terasse topp Aussicht, schön über der Nebel Grenze einfach faszinierend. Bedienung ist freundlich das Essen ist sehr gut. Preis Leistung stimmt auch aber es ging etwas lange bis es serviert wurde. ansonsten gerne wieder.

We booked 2 nights in this hotel and it has a fair price for Swiss🇨🇭standards. The room was big and looked clean, with an amazing view and 2 big sliding doors. The food was also really good en happy employees, joking and really helpful. It is an old hotel, so don’t expect new furniture. I liked it a lot, especially the doors. We had them closed only when sleeping or went out. 🙂

Das aufmerksame, dynamische und freundliche Serviceteam hat sich hervorragend um uns gekümmert.Sowohl die aktuelle Saisonkarte als auch die Standard-Speisekarte bietet tolle Gerichte für den kleinen und grossen Hunger und hat sicherlich für jeden Geschmack etwas zu bieten. Die Portionengrösse steht in einem fairen Verhältnis zu den Preisen, die Speisen sind einfach und schön angerichtet.Die Aussicht auf den die imposanten Glarner Berge und den Walensee ist sehr einladend und eindrücklich.Wir kommen sicher wieder!

Der Restaurantbesuch (Juli 2020) war vollkommen zufriedenstellend. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Speiseangebot bietet für jeden Geschmack etwas, die Saisonkarte ist NICHT 0815 und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Die konsumierten Speisen waren sehr lecker. Der tolle Ausblick rundet den Besuch bestens ab. Wir kommen wieder!

Nach Ammler Höhenweg-Wanderung oberhalb Amden sind wir spontan auf der grossen, wunderschönen und sonnigen Terrasse eingekehrt und haben wunderbare Coupes gegessen und Kaffee getrunken. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich, kompetent und hilfsbereit. Das Schutzkonzept ist gut umgesetzt und man fühlt sich als Gast wohl und sicher. Genügend Parkplätze in der Umgebung.

Sehr schöne Zimmer mit toller Aussicht i.d.Bergwelt. Essen hat noch Potenzial nach oben. Freundliches Personal.

Guten Tag zusammen Am 8.03.2020 assen wir in diesem Restaurant. Wir wurden nicht besonders freundlich bedient. Nach der Bestellung warteten wir 1.5 Stunden auf unser Essen. Das Cordon bleu war trocken die Pommes welche dazu serviert wurden waren matschig und zudem viel zu wenig. Auch der Salat war massiv zu teuer für die grösse. Auch die anderen Menüs welche unsere Gruppe bestellte waren kein bisschen besser. Als wir das Personal darauf ansprachen wurden wir ignoriert. Der Koch wollte nicht mit uns sprechen. Ich empfehle dieses Restaurant überhaupt niemandem weiter so eine Abzocke. NIE MEHR!!!!

Great apartment with nice furniture. All amenities available except a vacuum cleaner. But otherwise all great. Food in the restaurant is also super delicious. Lots of variety. And stuff for kids to do too. I wish the service would be more friendly. A smile goes a long way.

The staff here is absolutely amazing! They welcomed us with open arms, extremely kind and generous, they watched over our bags while we hiked the mountains, they served amazing food and beverages, everyone speaks great English so it was very easy to communicate for us. The rooms were clean and well kept, the VIEW is the best in Amden as far as a place to stay. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment and the staff they are like family and make you feel as if you fit right in. I will be back because of this place.

Muy bien, la atención de Ruth y la buena mano de Manuel en la cocina, junto con el resto del equipo, nos han dado unas vacaciones en Amden de lujo. Se adaptan a ti con los horarios, las habitaciones muy silenciosas, en definitiva, muy recomendable.

Unfreundliche Bedienung, man wird ewig ignoriert, Bestellung dauert noch länger bis man sie auf dem Tisch hat, rechnen beim bezahlen können sie auch nicht (rechnen sich das Trinkgeld mit ein...) - das Beste ist der Ausblick, den Rest kann man vergessen, da isst man man in jedem Bahnhofsrestaurant besser und wird freundlicher bedient!!! Nie wieder...

Five stars, I gave, mainly for a wonderful terrace with view. Food was also good though not special. Staff is nice and friendly. So overall a very good and relaxing experience.
