HR Giger Bar Museum in Gruyères

A unique experience, as there is no other place like this, and actually pretty good cocktails, but extremely crowded (and you can not make reservations). Either be patient or very lucky 😉

Cafe with a super original design, spectacular decoration, with very pleasant service, although unfortunately the food is very average. We ordered a Croque-monsieur, and they gave us two slices of ham with a little cheese and mustard…

Giger’s finest price of installation art, I am surprised to see a place like this outside of NYC or Berlin. Great place to grab a drink after the museum or before dinner. A must visit while in Gruyère.

A fabulous atmosphere created by HR Giger that is strangely juxtaposed against the old medieval town of Gruyere. You feel like you are immersed in his art. Tasty cocktails that are reasonably priced. Please replicate this bar (as was originally planned) in NYC and Tokyo.

Very nice bar, we know, I come from the area, however the welcome there needs to be reviewed, we are asked to wait outside without a hello and the friendliness of the waitress has lost it...so that's for sure you won't see me there anymore, too bad 🤔

If you go to see HR Museum you have to pass by the bar even for a coffee! This place is simply amazing! I was as well in Chur in the bar for a coffee and both of those places were amazing! The internal design is simply amazing of course if you are an Alien lover! If you are you cannot miss this place!

I loved drinking a few beers festively 🍺 in the Alien atmosphere of Giger, it's strange a pub like that in a sublime old Gruyère and I hope forever for a protected and wonderful place

The bar is wonderful, very particular, in fact we went in for that. But the coffee is undrinkable. One of the worst I've ever tried. Furthermore, the waitress, although kind, should know that a "macchiato" is not a latte, but an espresso. If he doesn't know what the customer means, he should ask (after he brought an espresso). 3 stars anyway for the coffee, not for the service.

Probably the most unique coffee and drinks place in Switzerland, inspired by the Alien Movie and his creator Giger. Try the Alien Coffee. It’s a local specialty. And absolutely a must to visit when in Gruyère.

Spectacular Alien themed environment, very well kept and beautiful, absolutely worth visiting. very friendly staff and good food, at prices perhaps a little higher than average compared to the food portions

Alien bar in Gruyeres, a tourist town Famous state of Friborg west of switzerland A strange bar that got its decoration idea from alien animal movies from outer space is called Giger Bar or H.R. Giger Museum Bar "Alien Bar". The bar is decorated like being in an alien nest. (Delicious beer) There are hot and cold drinks, tea, coffee, desserts, and beer. On the opposite side there is a small gallery showing stories about aliens. This place is in a beautiful village as well. On the way to the bar, we took pictures and enjoyed the atmosphere of the village. It was very beautiful.

Very ingenious, great ambience because of the design, very artistic and understandable therefore well attended. The service was very good, food & drinks perfect and the prices are also acceptable. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the museum - but when I do, I'll definitely stop by the bar again!

Giger Bar is a work of art. The ceiling, walls, tables and chairs are all modeled by the artist in the style of his acclaimed ‘Alien’ biomechanical environment and character designs. The food and beer was great.

If you're a fan you cannot leave without going here as well, go to the museum, then you must go to the bar and order a drink. The bar is just as detailed as the museum and the menu even had Giger inspired drinks such as the Alien or the HR Giger. I ordered the Giger, hung around took some photos, chatted with the bartender and left a happy fan.

An experience. Climb on mountains, enter inside the monster. Be the monster. It's one of the most beautiful bars I've ever seen in my life.

The Aliens special coffee/hot chocolate is an absolute joke and scam, expensive and horrible and has nothing special about it, just save yourself the 10 CHF. On the other hand, the interior design is acutely impressive and is the best part of the experience

What can I say.....just an amazing bar designed by HR Giger, located opposite the museum. A surreal experience to go to either after the museum visit or just walk in, to sit, marvel and inhale his art atmosphere, over a drink or meal. The staff are great, nice and helpful. Interestingly the menu prices are relatively inexpensive. Must go and write off one bucket list.

Wow. I think for people who like to see new and interesting places - it is obligatory to come in in this bar, the same as to visit the museum. There is a table - don’t make a photo and Visio - but everyone make these - and it is wow impression. Coffee is good, but snack “pizza” is not very good. The prices are friendly.

I couldn't leave this Giger-bar until the last store closed. The best architectural art space!

The place is superb, nothing to say but on the other hand the welcome is very cold and the service really isn't great. A smile costs nothing... So we cut it short faster than expected.

The music is cool, the waitress who broke her ankle is nice, the decor is of course sublime and atypical (that's why we come), the prices reasonable. No false note

The bar and the museum are both highlights of Gruyeres, probably our favorite attraction and the drink prices at the bar are quite reasonable by Swiss standards.

We had the alcohol free Alien coffee which consisted of a shot of espresso, Gruyères double cream, and a few meringues. The cream and meringues were delicious, the coffee strong (even after adding in about half of the cream). We were mostly just buying something so we could go inside (there's a sign out the front that photos are for paying customers only) but we were pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. Didn't get a chance to sit in the chairs at the bar as there was a large family there taking photos but it was still a great experience. It's a fairly small bar and it was almost full when we went in so there may be a wait on busier days.

Probably the coolest bar I will ever go to! The architectural detail inside is awe striking. I swear I studied the walls and ceiling for 20 minutes. Truly a unique experience. Also, surprisingly decently priced drinks considering you are in Switzerland. Cocktails averaged 14 CHF. Highly recommend after you have toured the museum.

Very particular bar in the village of Gruyeres with a truly extravagant interior with bones covering all the walls and ceiling. They serve cocktails and wines by the glass at honest prices. I had a Swiss rosé and tasted an amber beer from a Gruyeres brasserie. Near the bar there is also the Giger museum.

The place is striking, but being polite does not take away from being brave. The location and spectacle of "Alien" is the only thing they have to offer. The food/drink is expensive, but Gruyeres does not boast an extensive offer in this regard either. That said, a visit is almost obligatory taking into account the history and location of the place.

One of the most original bars I've ever been to. The decoration is very surprising, set in the movie Alien and named after its creator HR Giger. Its museum is right opposite. I didn't eat anything, we just had a drink, but I think that although it is shocking that this type of bar is in a medieval town like this, it is an obligatory stop due to its spectacular decoration.

The location is different then a normal bar, is in thematic with the museum. Food selection is limited (small bites), but the drink selection it’s good and the staff are offering a friendly service. Worth a try.

I've been a huge fan of the original Alien movie from Ridley Scott since I first saw it decades ago. Going to this bar was my long-time wish. The interior is excellent, other-worldly (alien). Then the excellent names for the shots, love it! Totally worthy a visit if you like Giger's work!

The HR Giger bar in Switzerland offers a unique experience with its extraordinary atmosphere, inspired by the artist's dark and futuristic universe. The HR Giger Bar la Gruyère is a very special bar, if you visit the village of Gruyère, it is almost a must to visit the HR Giger Bar. We liked it, I took the green house beer 🍺. The employees are friendly, the prices 👌, everything is great.

The bar and the interior are impeccable, but the waitress couldn’t care less about the customers Edit: 1 star for service because the waitress refused to take an order well before 20:30 (19:45) because she wanted to go home and said that she doesn’t have to explain anything (i.e. doesn’t have to do her job?). And yeah, that’s all literally what she said. In general she was very rude and just not approachable: no greeting, no announcement that the bar is closing, no attention to the customer at all. I understand that we’re all people and hence not perfect, but this is downright unacceptable. You can see when the person is not even trying. Would‘ve given zero, because it really spoils the mood.

Unforgettable experience in a fabulous setting. You absolutely must go there!

Superb place with lots of details to discover and where we are received as we arrive, we kindly asked if our big dog weighing 50 kg could come in with us and we were very well received, for those who still don't understand that it is a bar and not a gallery and therefore without consuming photos are prohibited go your way, or go to the museum but you will also have to pay entry, we saw disrespectful people during our break at the bar! So for those who say they were not well received, first look at your behavior! We say hello, we sit down, we order and then we take photos! Thank you to the waitresses for their smiles and kindness!

Surprisingly good value for money (for Switzerland). Feels like you are having a normal coffee in a star-wars film set. Worth a stop when in town. You should sit down and have a drink as you are not allowed to take pictures otherwise.

I go often there and, each time : what an ambiance ! Can't dream better for an Alien fan.

After the museum, go for a quick drink at the bar opposite. This one was designed and designed by the master Giger and will take you straight into his special and fantastic universe. You really feel like you're in an Alien spaceship. Really a super nice experience to live and not to miss.

Well what can I say...very special! You find yourself catapulted into an alien-looking bar. And it's all about taking photos! Given the particularity of the place I was definitely expecting disproportionate costs and instead prices were more than honest for two beers. Only one thing was out of place... the blues background music (also very beautiful) didn't really suit the place!

Nice place, small and attractive, we have gone every time we visit Gruyère, it is like a mandatory stop, I remember that the first time a few years ago (2018) the service was good, friendly since they invited us to return every time... except for the week It was a shame about the service, so unpleasant from one girl in particular, and the bar in general seemed dirty to me. Totally, we left without having obtained what we asked for. Good luck with the service on your visit, travelers!

After the musem, the bar is necessary. We had a few drinks at the bar savouring the autenthicity of this place. Amazing! I would add the unconfortable number of photos I made but it will reveal nothing. Come here and taste it for yourselve!

It is a bar located inside the walls of the medieval castle of Gruyère. It remains dedicated to the master of comics, Giger. His Aliens. These famous Aliens. His irrefutable style. Giger lived in the village of Gruyère. His historic house has been transformed into a museum. It is a very beautiful museum. Opposite, the owner of the bar decided to make it the Aliens bar. A very beautiful decoration. On the other hand, they don't want photographers. They only want consumers, but the problem is, this bar is always full. They serve coffees with industrial cream, while the tradition is Gruyère cream.

we came late just before closing after pretty hectic day. they waiter kindly informed us that it is closing time and unfortunately he can not serve us, but after we explaned that will'll just have a quick drink after exhausting day...he not only bring us drinks, but refused to charge us. this was worth everything at that moment. thank you for this. and the place is spectacular!!

Good service and good vibes. We went later in the afternoon/dinner time so there wasn't huge crowds inside. Very impressive architecture even if you are not an Aliens or HR Giger fan. Would have liked to have seen/was expecting more variety in the menu for drinks and some more snacks or light finger food options.

Ginger Bar and Café, in Gruyeres, is one of the most interesting places I have ever visited. The internal architecture is inspired by aliens, with strange baby faces and bones. It's a really amazing place, with kind waiters and a nice atmosphere. I am sure that if you go there, you will be inspired to make photos.
