Nature creates the atmosphere on the terrace, especially when the sun is shining. The range of restaurants on offer, on the other hand, is simply modest - even taking into account the exposed location. CHF 18 for a few leaves of salad and raw vegetables leaves a bland taste, as does the fact that the sales are "generated" without any receipt. A rogue who thinks evil here.

Hundwiler Höhi, great hiking trail, even with dogs. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't offer much...you had to wait outside for a long time until you were served, even though you went in twice to order yourself because they were probably very overwhelmed...you couldn't. So wait...employee grim, stressed except for the friendly gentleman, who was likeable. Rather very dark inside. But it's still great that there is an opportunity to take a break and have something to eat and drink.

It is possible to approach the viewpoint over this village by car and drive up to the parking lot (free parking). Then there is a very steep climb to the finish line. Since at the top you are moving through pastures directly with herds of cows, there are gates or electric fences in the way, which must also be consistently closed behind you. Passable even by bike. The view from the highest point is worth it even on cloudy days.

Very nice view of the Säntis to Lake Constance (all-round view). There is a suitable tour for every type of hiker (although a low level of fitness is still required).

After a steep climb we came here for a snack and drink. Unfortunately we couldn't pay by card and we forgot cash. They were so incredibly hospitable here that we were allowed to have a drink there. Or maybe we looked really thirsty??! Very beautiful and nice place, cared for by very hospitable people. Thank you!! (Tip: bring money!) 😉

A good climb up to here. The service is very nice, but sometimes a bit overloaded. This shouldn't be taken lightly, but it can lead to a short waiting time. This is made up for with friendliness. I just had a coffee and enjoyed the view. But both were very good. It is a dog friendly cabin. There are water bowls outside. Well thought out! Recommendation from me.

There is good schüblig from the grill

We were able to sit outside, even though the sun was dim, and ate a bratwurst (mustard!!!).

Wunderbar gelegen mit Blick auf Bodensse, Alpstein und Alpen. Schöne Wanderung ob von Gonten, Hundwil, Zürchersmühle oder Jakobsbad aus. Leider ist das Restaurant eine Katastrophe. Keine Bedienung an den Tischen, dafür in Corona-Zeiten ein 'ewiges' Anstehen in einer Schlange (die meisten ohne Maske) um ein Getränk oder eine Bratwurst zu bestellen. Das Personal völlig überfordert. Unbedingt Picknick mitnehemn sonst besteht Gefahr von 'Hungerast'.

The alternative 'Hörnli with minced meat' from the menu is also not available ("no Hörnli"). The boiled sausage, which was served quicker than promised, was lukewarm. The sliced ​​meat from the daily menu was very good; lean, tender meat. The hash browns looked like scraped together leftovers. Well, it was also the last portion available. We were there during the week. It had been clear for many days that the sun would shine on her. The restaurant wasn't full. A pity.

Das Geschnetzelte vom Tagesmenu war sehr gut; mageres, zartes Fleisch. Die Rösti sahen wie zusammengekratzte Resten aus. Nun, es war auch die letzte Portion, die zur Verfügung stand.Wir waren unter der Woche dort. Es war seit vielen Tagen klar, dass sie Sonne scheinen würde. Das Restaurant war nicht voll. Schade.

It's been a long time since I hiked to the Hundwiler Höhe again. It was worth it, nice hospitality and a beautiful view.

Good, honest and regional dishes, friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. I already knew the dog when Marlis was still there. The successor has maintained the spirit. I can only recommend the location as it is worth it for the view alone.

Nach unserem "Aufstieg" zur Hundwiler Höhi bestellten wir im Restaurant zwei Salatteller. Beide waren sehr lecker, die verschiedenen Salate frisch zubereitet und abwechslungsreich (unterschiedliche Saucen). Die Portionen hatten eine gute Grösse, Brot dazu gibt's so viel, wie man will. Die Aussicht ist natürlich unschlagbar, der Service war auch sehr freundlich. Einen Pluspunkt gibt's noch für die einwandfreie Einhaltung der Corona-Vorschriften. Wir kommen gerne wieder vorbei :)

Cheese ham with boiled sausage perfect

Zum Mittagessen auf die Hundwiler Höhe ab Gonten gewandert. Dort angekommen habe ich schon vorausgeahnt ,wie es mit dem Essen herauskommen wird und wollte lieber wieder absteigen und in Gonten unten essen.Meine Frau wollte bleiben und so haben wir das Tagesangebot „Schinken mit Kartoffelsalat“ bestellt. Der Schinken war erztrocken und der Kartoffelsalat war in Form von zuwenig gekochten und mit Mayonese eingefetteten zu grossen Kartoffelstücken auf den Teller geknallt.Für das Essen gebe ich 2 Punkte. Das Personal 4,5 Punkte.Werden dort definitiv nichts mehr essen.

A worthwhile destination, the “Hundwiler Höhi” and back from “Zürchers Mühle”. At the right time there are numerous blooming flowers to admire. The inn on the summit is worth a visit!

An einem sonnigen Wintersonntag besuchte ich mit einem befreundeten Paar sowie drei Kindern die Hundwiler Höhe, wo wir um 12.45 Uhr - also zur Hauptessenszeit - essen wollten. Dass es schönes Wetter sein würde, wusste man dank Wetterprognosen schon Tage im Voraus, von einer hohen Besucherzahl war daher auch seitens Restaurant auszugehen. Auf der Karte gibt es - neben diversen Würsten - zwei warme Mahlzeiten: Käsehörnli und Gerstensuppe. Wir bestellten vier Mal Käsehörnli, zwei Paar Wienerli und eine Siedwurst, mussten dann aber leider vernehmen, dass Käsehörnli "aus" seien, was mir mit sehr grossem Erstaunen zur Kenntnis nahmen (und es wurde NICHT gesagt, sie seien momentan aus, man würde aber noch einmal frisch kochen). Uns blieb also nichts anderes übrig, als auf Gerstensuppe auszuweichen, die Wurstbestellungen blieben aber die selben. Nunja, ein Paar Wienerli erhielten wir, auf das andere Paar sowie auf die Siedwurst und einen ebenfalls bestellten sauren Most, warteten wir trotz dreimaligem Nachfragen bis zu dem Zeitpunkt, als wir dann das Restaurant verliessen. Ach ja, ungefähr eine Stunde, nachdem es hiess, es gäbe keine Käsehörnli mehr, konnten Leute an unserem Nachbartisch dann plötzlich wieder bestellen... Die Gerstensuppe war übrigens ziemlich wässrig und langweilig.Eine Fehlleistung durch und durch: falsch kalkulierte Essmengen sowie zu wenig und unfähiges Personal. Besser, man nimmt ein Picnic mit und geniesst die wunderschöne Aussicht ein wenig ab von diesem Restaurant.

Natürlich macht die Sonne und die spektakuläre Sicht auf den großen See im Norden und den Alpstein im Süden die halbe Bewertung aus. An diesem schönen Sonntagnachmittag hat aber auch das Berggasthaus mit seiner freundlichen Wirtin gut abgeschnitten:Es war überraschend ruhig und entspannt auf der Sonnenterrasse, denn sonst pilgern zahlreiche Besucher auf die Höchi und muss um einen Sitzplatz fast gerungen werden. Das Sandwich dick belegt mit Bünderfleisch, wie auch der Siedfleischsalat waren fein und die isotonischen Getränke, trüber Saft vom Möhl und kühles Bier von Schützengarten brachten die müden Wanderer bald wieder auf die Beine.Zuletzt nahmen sich die Wirtsleute noch die Zeit, uns einen Blick auf die Nächtigungsstätten werfen zu lassen, zwei einfache Zimmer - eines mit Blick zum See und zwei verschieden langen Betten, und eines mit Blick in den Alpstein, sowie auch die verschiedenen Matratzenlager. Für die Nächtigungsgäste ist die Zeit stehen geblieben. Der eine empfindet das als wohltuend und abenteuerlich romantisch, der andere als völlig überholt. Letzterer macht sich dann Abends besser wieder auf den Weg ins Tal.Die Wertung des Preis-/Leistungsverhältnisses erfolgt aus dem Blickwinkel des Alemannen von nördlich des Rheins. Die Alemannen von der Südseite können das Verhältnis sicher besser bewerten.

ob währschafte Küche, einen Imbiss oder nur ein Durstlöscher; im Gipfelrestaurant Hundwiler Höhe ist man gut bedient. Die Bergwirtschaft liegt auf dem Gipfel der Hundwiler Höhe und bieten einen sensationellen Panoramablick auf Alpstein mit Säntis, Kronberg und viele gerössere und kleinere Gipfel. Man kann von allen Seiten hochwandern. Meine Wanderung führte von Urnäsch im Ausserrodischen nach Appenzell im Innerrodischen.
