Jeck's Place in Genève

I recently had the displeasure of dining at Jeck's Place, and let me tell you, it was an experience I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. First off, the food took an eternity to arrive. I'm talking about waiting so long that I started to question whether the chef had to go hunt down the ingredients themselves. And the staff? Well, if you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer, then this is the place for you. They had all the charm of a wet mop and the warmth of a freezer aisle. Now let's talk about the pièce de résistance – the food. If you're a fan of bland, uninspired dishes that taste like they've been sitting out since the Stone Age, then Jeck's Place is your culinary nirvana. I've had better-tasting cardboard. Seriously, even the salt refused to sprinkle itself on the food out of sheer embarrassment. In conclusion, if you enjoy wasting your time, being treated like dirt, and eating flavorless slop, then by all means, make a reservation at Jeck's Place. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and steer clear. You'll thank me later. Or, better yet, you'll thank yourself for not subjecting your taste buds to such torment.

I’ve been coming to Jeck’s for years. In fact I’m here every time I’m in Geneva, and sometimes multiple times in a week! They’ve updated their dishes (and prices of course!) since COVID and it’s a great selection. The one I love best is the curry laksa noodle soup. The flavors are wonderful and bring me back home. Their curries are also excellent and you can’t go wrong with their noodle dishes. And any of the vegetarian belacan ones are great, my favorite is the okra. They have lunch specials (bento box style) if you want a value but I still prefer the Ala carte where you can get some of the really outstanding stuff. Service is very quick and friendly. Try to avoid the peak lunch rush hour.

We were unable to eat here despite hearing good things about the food because the male server was racist and looked down upon us. He suggested we go to the Indian restaurant next door which would be better suited for us. It doesn't matter how good their food is, someone serving customers with such vitriol should not be supported. I would be very careful before going to eat here, especially if you're not from Singapore or possibly white.

I've been here three times and the service was abysmal. This is disappointing because the food is generally very good. However, to call the service abysmal is an understatement. The male manager behaves in a racist manner towards South Asians.This is an opinion that is shared among Indian students I know who have been to this place. For instance, today when my friends who went there to celebrate a birthday dinner mentioned that they are vegetarian in order to confirm that the vegetarian items clearly listed on the menu did not contain any meat, he said that this restaurant isn't for us and that we go to the nearby Indian place instead. Even though we politely told him that this was not good behaviour towards customers, the female manager then told us rudely to go find something else to eat, especially when we were already on our way out of the restaurant. Another time we went, the male manager behaved super well to white clientele and very rudely to us. The one time I went there with white friends, the service was better but he was still rude to me. See the other reviews for this place and you'll see this opinion is valid, even if in the minority, because well this guy is rude to minorities.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVEN TO MY ENEMY. The staff is extremely rude, racist and disrespectful. My friends and I (a group of 7) decided to visit the restaurant today for a birthday celebration and asked a simple question about making dishes vegetarian for us (without any meat). The server/owner told us “If you’re vegetarian, this restaurant isn’t for you. You can go next door to your Indian restaurant”. We were appalled and had to leave the restaurant. When I went back to politely explain to them how rude and racist their statement was; they asked me and my friend to leave and find another place to eat. If in today’s day and age, we’re facing racism in an “international” city like Geneva by a south-east Asian owned restaurant, I don’t think anybody should be supporting their business. They didn’t just lose customers but have also now created a bad name for the entire restaurant. PLEASE NEVER GO HERE!

I loved the Hoi Sin duck and the duck with Pee Pah sauce as well as the fried rice. I didn't know the subtleties of Singapore cuisine and I must say that I am won over.

Jeck’s is a regular dinner place on my work trips to Geneva. As someone who has lived in both Malaysia and Thailand, I can vouch that Jeck’s stays true to its origins and never disappoints. The chicken with dry chillis and satays are my favourites. Try it on a crisp autumn evening, it will make your day better! The steamed vegetarian dumplings with the sesame sauce is just divine. Highly recommended if you are looking for quality Singaporean/Malaysian/Thai food in Geneva.

Horrible male owner! Racist! Look down at us cz we ask for empty plates to share the food. The male staff/owner rudely said that if we want to share the food, eat in McDonald and not in the restaurant. What's wrong with not wasting food????? Really ruin our lunch experience! Never ever go to this place!!!!!! AVOID AT ANY COST. We have done quite some travelling and in our travelling history, nobody has ever ever insulted us like this.

Since our meal portions were small, we decided to share the food. For us, sharing is better than wasting food. However, the male staff/owner rudely said: "If we want to share food, eat at McDonald's and not at the restaurant!" We've travelled quite a lot, but we've never had this kind of service. Totally ruined the whole lunch experience. The staff/owner of this guy treats Asians badly and is very rude, but when he talks to Caucasians he immediately becomes polite and very friendly.

I always enjoy dining at this Singaporean restaurant when I visit Geneva. The food is authentic, the service is good and the ambience is great. I enjoyed the Sambal fish, chicken curry and kangkong. I look forward to coming back.

1st but most assuredly not our last visit : Jeck's Place is THAT good!!! It starts with a very warm welcome from the friendly owner. The dishes we ordered were all amazing : delicious steamed and fried dumplings, incredible char kway teow (tastes really like in SE Asia), very good sauteed beef with Thai basil leaves, great and crispy sweet and sour chicken and Kankung Belacan (my favourite). To me, the closest to eating amazing dishes in SE Asia. I mean, come on, they even have Ice Bandung!!! Prices are IMHO not too expensive, we are in Geneva after all. Biggest thanks to Jeck's Place team!!!

Good little restaurant in all respects

I may not be a Singaporean, but I have been to Singapore several times and am a proud friend of plenty of Singaporeans. We all agree that this is the best Singaporean food we’ve had outside of Singapore (having tried places across the US and the UK). Everything was amazing, but there were a few really excellent dishes: * The Char Kuey Teow was incredible. I’ve never had satisfying CKT outside of Singapore before this. This one is proper — wok hei, super umami, not too sweet — just really good. * The sambal kang kong was spicy and salty and really satisfying to eat alongside the spicy crispy beef, with a bit of rice. * The laksa was perfectly rich with coconut and a hint of seafood flavor, plus an aromatic spice mix that was enjoyably heavy on star anise. * The mee goreng was the spiciest dish we had, also very satisfying. The couple that runs the restaurant is also incredibly kind and treated us so well!

During the mid-90s where I was traveling up to Geneva monthly and having stayed a week each time, inevitably one of the meals to be had was at this Sin-Thai restaurant to enjoy food that was closer to home. Whether it was a the char kway teow or laksa or the meat and veggie dishes, they were all well done and close to those at home. No surprise this was a popular spot for Singaporeans working or living in the city!
