Krone in Zürich

Excellent food and great service. We particularly liked our entrances with the vegan austers and then we had ravioli with ricotta. The presentation of the food was beautiful, as you can see on the pictures. We will be back ☺️

Very fine food, especially the vegetarian dishes (pumpkin soup, beetroot gnocchi) full of different, interesting flavors. Crispy, but not dry Rösti, Zürigeschnetzeltes, bland for my taste, but nicely served in an old-fashioned copper pan. Excellent dessert, chocolate cake with a perfectly liquid center and chestnut ice cream. Generous portions, almost too much of a good thing, but therefore good value for money. Very nice service, well looked after all around. A harmonious atmosphere for our family celebration. Thanks to the whole team!

The atmosphere is well maintained and the service is very friendly. The food was good, already presented. The cordon bleu was fine, I didn't like the breading that much and the cheese inside was too runny. Otherwise gladly again.

Really good swiss restaurant inside an old house that has been renewed. Small but good menu, decent wine selection also for wine by the glass, kind staff. Has also special seasonal menus like wild in the respective time of the year. There are a couple parking spots and nearby a parking garage, but the restaurant is easily reachable by public transportation too.

Meet at door, drink straight away, free nibbles ( popcorn, then bread ). I was terrified how much this would cost. But it actually wasn't bad ! Food was amazing, what more can I say.

Excellent Swiss restaurant, in a typical setting, with local dishes, I must say, well prepared and cared for. The service is good. Tried the typical cordon bleau, and some excellent lake fish. The bread is also excellent High prices for Italian standards, excellent for Swiss standards.

Great experience at this restaurant. We booked a table for the birthday of my wife, and we had an amazing dinner. The food was certainly delicious, the waiters were also very diligent and always willing to help, and since I put in the reservation that it was a special day, they assigned us a very good table next to the window and they even surprised us with a happy birthday song when they brought the desserts to us. This last detail was incredible, as we didn't expect it at all! Lovely atmosphere and classic and cozy furniture that made us feel the Swiss cuisine in the best possible way. Such attention to detail is what makes a difference nowadays, and we certainly can only recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to enjoy really good food, a lovely ambience and, last but not least, a fair price for everything. We will for sure repeat. A MUST in Zürich!

The reception was friendly. Help with taking off jacket and hanging up, leading to table. Afterwards, I ask about what I want to drink. Only now do I give you the menu, for lunch there are 4 to 5 things on it as a menu salad or soup cost 30 to 36 SFr, absolutely fair and the food is excellent as always. It's always better to make reservations... and bring your hunger with you, you'll leave the house well-fed.

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Food is delicious. Specifically, the Lamb-haxe was incredibly tender and flavorful. Service is friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend for a group or even a date night. Most recently had the 4 course 'Surprise Menu' and was not disappointed! Again returned for lunch and was very happy with the options, execution and quality of the food. Still recommended!

In addition to all the commercial buildings, the Krone stands out as one of the last historic houses in Zurich Altstetten. We enjoyed the aperitif in the spacious and beautifully decorated garden. The service in the restaurant was friendly and attentive. The Alpine Zander ceviche was delicious and the leaf lettuce looked very tasty. Then the house specialty: bird from the pot and salmon fillet were also a delight. All of this at such fair prices. We are coming. Gladly again.

A wonderful restaurant for summer evenings with a beautiful outdoor terrace, creative cuisine and social commitment. The chef and the team earn Gault Millau points. The vegan oyster as an appetizer and the menu were excellent! Thank you, we'd love to come back.

Delicious food and attentive service

The Krone Altstetten is stunning, a clear recommendation. Where else can you get asparagus ice cream as a starter?! Would have earned Gault-Millau points. It's also a very nice house and the service is great. The prices are normal.

“Classic” cuisine interpreted in an extraordinarily fine and sophisticated way!

Very unfortunate. The crown is no longer the same and for me the price/performance ratio is no longer right. There used to be Zürigschnätzläds a discretion and now 42. . We wanted without mushroom and we got about 10% meat and 90% mushroom. You don't even get Rösti anymore, you have to pay for it...Never again, it's a shame

Excellent dinner, typically and absolutely Swiss. Attentive staff and generous portions. The place is really typical and it is worth taking a tour of the cellar.

Rustic restaurant with mainly Swiss cuisine on the main street in the middle of Zurich-Altstetten. The restaurant was fully booked on a normal Monday evening. The menu is rather small, but with great dishes and a few fine specialties. The food is wonderful, for example there are "Züri-Gschnätzlets" à discretion with warm rechaud. What makes this restaurant particularly remarkable is the concept: it gives many long-term unemployed people an opportunity to integrate back into the job market. Even if everything didn't go smoothly in terms of service, the employees make an effort and that's what counts in the end. Bravo!

The furnishings are rather simple and dignified, but we were even more surprised by the fantastic food, the visual arrangement and the professional demeanor of the team. Cheers! It was our first time in the Krone and we think it's great how people who are otherwise hidden are supported, challenged and valued here with very demanding work. Keep it up! What was unfortunately not so great was the Züri Geschnetzelte. A chef in Zurich has to be able to do that better! The Rösti was a bit light / not particularly crispy and the meat/sauce was seasoned without love. The idea with the decorated carrots is great! The popcorn and bread are also extremely delicious!

The two of us came across the Krone on a Monday evening and decided on the 5-course surprise menu... and we were completely blown away! Each dish is a creative mix of regional ingredients - perfectly prepared. A pearl in the middle of Altstetten that we can recommend without reservation. Further plus points: inclusive employee concept of the work chain (for people with disabilities) and a top price-performance ratio. We'd love to come back!

A venerable old house with lots of charm and history. The food was excellent, the service was very good!

I spent a most enjoyable evening there with my son. Excellent food with seasonal fresh and varied ingredients. We enjoyed some intense and original flavours. My first course was a marinated zander with beetroot and black walnut and house made cream cheese. An excellent start. I loved the fish and I adored the rich and dark flavours and textures of the beetroot and the black nut. The slightly sour freshness of cream cheese contrasted the the beetroot and black walnut in a lovely way and highlighted the various ingredients by doing so. My main course was a braised ossobucco with a potato strudel - both again comforting in its rich and velvety teamwork of dark and light colours, textures and flavours. I loved the slightly tart-and tangyness of the parsley root that set again an invigorating accent to the dark and comforting flavours as described above. The dessert a light mousse of chocolate and red cabbage in a shell that tasted like a linzertartelet (cinnamon, red currant, nuts etc.) was a surprise combination of flavours I have never had before. Again it was the teamwork of all the ingredients that made it so special. Beside - the Prosecco they served was outstanding and the selection of wines on the card was small but very good. Last but not least: All that bliss in a beautiful house and served by a congenial hosting crew. Well done!

I don't often go to the outskirts of town to dine, but here at Restaurant Krone it's definitely worth it. Not only was the food excellent, but the service was also impeccable. We were served by Philippe, who accompanied our evening with a lot of love. I can recommend the Züri-Gschnätzlets to anyone who is very hungry, and the Surprise Menu to anyone who likes surprises. A real gem! Authentic Swiss food that was delicious and lovely quaint atmosphere.

Rustically furnished restaurant with a clear menu. There are 2 classic specialties and dishes with special side dishes. The Big Green Egg is advertised, but there are only two actual meat dishes on the menu. I found that a bit of a shame. The food is good and was on the table quickly. The service almost tries too hard.

The visit to the restaurant was wonderful from A to Z. We were welcomed in a beautiful garden and served warmly, with a lot of charm and humor by our waiter (Mr. Z. from Greece). Thanks for that :-) it's been a long time and I don't remember the service so well. The menu is manageable and modern. Many, not always everyday, ingredients are used and cleverly presented. What a treat. The restaurant is a foundation and makes a very important contribution. We would like to come again. :-)
