LOFT FIVE in Zürich

They offered me a soup of the day (chef's recommendation) the soup looked like strawberries but with salt, it was simply horrible. I ordered champagne to celebrate my birthday and the waiter forgot, I was so reluctant to eat the soup that I left without eating anything more than a couple of bites of salmon on bread (although the salmon was delicious). too many people for so little attention.... standing out in my opinion.😧

Great location near the main train station. Hip, rather young crowd. Nicely decorated. I had to wait a long time until I was finally noticed and shown to the reserved table. Afterwards friendly service. Creative menu selection. Starter (“undercooked egg”) something different, but a bit bland. Main course (ravioli with figs and pecorino) excellent!

Service would have earned 10 stars! We were served very nicely by the Greek staff all evening. We'd love to come back, it was a real quality time there!

The place was nicely decorated and looking cosy. That is it on the positive side. To be pragmatic: 1. Service personnel was not trained to be polite or client-oriented. In the first 2 minutes- My friend brooked a table in their restaurant, so before going to there, we wanted to have a cocktail in the bar. I was told that one cannot book the bar table. I asked if I could take a free table by the window - the answer came - "it is booked" ???!!! 2. The seats are beyond uncomfortable, with people literally placed on the top of each other. Not even 30 cm between the seats. 3. The cocktail card had no mention whether the cocktail is long or short, nor any indication of its volume. That allows the barman to serve 80/100ml cocktails for Chf 20. 4. To the quality of the cocktails: We tried two - one word- disgusting. Both came in light green colour, one - just plain lemon acid, another tasted of artificial flavours. The circus with the waiter started when I raised a question about to taste of the drink. He (bold-ish with 2-day unshaved face) bravely threw that it was me who ordered it. (So, as I understand, he thought I should just shut up and drink that melange). Sour beyond possible drink was sent back and received a "tune up" - lots of sugar syrup. Got sent back forever after this. The "Aperol spritz" was more difficult to spoil, so it was ordered instead. Taste - average. 5. The Food. We ordered a cold cuts plate- received an average sized board with possibly 1 toast bread cut in 6 slices. Cost of the pleasure - CHF 28. Had to have more bread - 4 pieces were brought - 2.90chf appeared on the bill. 6. The Bill. The sent back cocktail found itself on the bill :) YAY! On my comment: This CHF20 position should be replaced with Aperol (CHF14)- the short-tempered response was "well, deduct 2 franks". The math skills were clearly strong there. 7. The Attitude. The guy clearly could not nearly keep his negative vibes unnoticed. And he showed it during the "brining the bill" phase without being shy about how he felt. Before we could pay- he walked off without any comment and reappeared ONLY AFTER we stood up and put our coats. The summary. Is this place worth the visit- NO, unless you adore arrogant service personnel and higher-than-usual prices for below-average quality of the offering (compared to other places in ZH). And I'd rather pay 22-24chf for a cocktail and it will be the flavour explosion!

Lovely ambience, great food surprise with the chef’s tower. Really attentive staff!

The menu offers a variety of possibilities, among which a quick menu (if you have to go to the nearby train station), starters, main dishes, and desserts. I ordered a very tasty tuna tartare which came with sweet potato fries on the side. The meat was also appreciated amongst people having it. It was maybe a bit low on the side dishes, but the quality definitely overcame the lack in quantity (if any). The dessert proposition was simple but very rich in taste. The service quality was also to praised here. Amicable and quick, a perfect way to end à Zurich trip before hopping on a train at the main station.

Manager asked me to pay in a rude manner even though I still planned to stay in the bar. It was said “he needed the table”. You lost a regular customer today.

This is not a restaurant but a waiting room. I didn't get to eat because I was left standing at the entrance and you had to wait until you were assigned a table. If that's the usual service for the place, then good luck.

Unfortunately, it's very loud in the pub, which can be stressful in the long run when having a conversation.

Today I went for a drink with my girlfriend. We sat at a table for two with an armchair and a not very comfortable stool. Next to us there was a table with 2 armchairs that were occupied first. During the course of the evening these guests left and the table remained empty for about 10 minutes. Since my stool was very uncomfortable and my back hurt, we moved to the table next door. After about 5 minutes a waiter came to us and asked why we had changed tables without asking and that because of us the previous two guests hadn't paid for the drinks. They got angry because we occupied the table even though they only went to smoke. The waiter blamed us that they could now give a bad review and didn't pay for the drinks. I think that's outrageous and that's not possible! I believe the staff needs to have a handle on who has paid and who hasn't. We felt so uncomfortable that we immediately paid and left. I find this accusation unacceptable!

Two weeks ago really great. Compliments Today red wine a mix of 2 bottles of the same wine to serve a glass. (Spartan) I reported it, I'm really disappointed. I expected something better from you. Guests from Bern. Thanks

A burger here costs CHF 42.. the most expensive burger I have ever eaten. It was good, but definitely not worth the price. The staff, however, was very friendly.

We were there with a group on December 31, 23. We had booked a menu with a complementary welcome and midnight drink. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the staff was attentive. The menu was original and well put together. The main course in particular was excellent in terms of quality and quantity. The following party in the restaurant/bar area was very entertaining, the dedicated DJ made an effort and animated the people. All in all a successful evening and highly recommended.

First of all, the food is great. there's nothing to complain about. The service was quite stressful and we weren't served for a long time at the beginning. There are always waiting times in between. The ambience leaves a lot to be desired as it is very loud and you can't tell exactly whether it is a restaurant or a bar.

I recently tried the lunch menu at this charming spot, and it exceeded my expectations. The salad was fresh, the main course flavorful, and the soup was a delightful surprise. I wanted to have a drink at 5 p.m. and then eat. The waiter, who spoke only English, informed me that all the drinking spots were occupied or reserved. The dining area was empty. Even though I said I wanted to eat an hour later, I wasn't allowed to sit there. I left the restaurant. I define hospitality differently.

Location is nice and modern. I wanted to change something up on the menu because I didn't want any cheese or bacon on my burger. The lady probably didn't understand me and I then said I'd just have the vegi burger. I was then served the normal burger with bacon and cheese with the black burger bun from the Vegi Burger. The lady was quite unfriendly and claimed I had ordered the normal burger. At the end she offered us a coffee as an apology, but in the end they added CHF 10 extra to our bill for the kitchen open area. At the end the lady said to me 'nobody understood you' and I didn't speak to anyone other than herself. Very disappointing, I won't come back again.

So if you know the waiter you can get a seat straight away without waiting, the others can wait over 30 minutes for a table... very roughly when we mentioned this they just said yes, that's just how it is... so you'd better go Miss Miu there everyone is treated the same without any extra favoritism or hiltle roof terrace or a few meters further there are some better places where everyone is treated equally, no matter where you come from or what you look like or who you are... it's a shame that things like that still exist...

Equal rights? NO not at Loft five!! I called first to see if there were still places available for drinks, they said yes, but you would have to wait in line but the queue wouldn't be too long. Me and my colleague stood there and waited. 2 guys came after us, the waiter had already seated the 2 guys opposite, even though we were in front of them. Is it normal and fair, even if they are colleagues, that the two guys get a seat before us or what? We spoke to the waiter, he was rude and said it wasn't his problem. Even the bouncer said “that’s just how it is.” It's a shame, we would like to be here but if staff are not customer friendly and only their "colleagues" are more important, they will lose customers.

On Wednesday evening I was in the restaurant with 6 friends. We were looking forward to a delicious burger, but unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed. We ordered 4 burgers for 42 Fr., which is quite expensive for a burger. The staff didn't ask us how we wanted the meat and just brought us the burgers like that. When we cut them open we saw that the meat was very raw inside. Three people at the table had to give the burgers back to be fried. We only ate them because we were hungry, but we didn't enjoy them. The entire meat declaration was also not given, you always had to ask the staff where the meat came from and how it was processed. We found that very unprofessional and non-transparent. The food was bad, the service was ok, and the value for money was poor. We cannot recommend this restaurant and will not go there again.

However, the area in the restaurant where drinks are available is not that big and only as many people as there are seats are allowed in. In summer or when the weather is good, there are also many more places outside. I don't know how good the restaurant is, I only had drinks there 😎

The Thai curry was really tasty and I absolutely loved their apple strudel. The waitress was charming and took her time when recommending the wine. Her suggestion was good, I really enjoyed the wine. The restaurant was busy which gave it a vibrant atmosphere.

Yesterday I had dinner with my colleague for the first time. We both ordered beef tartare with Cafe de Paris, served with sliced ​​bread, it tasted very good. The food and atmosphere of the place are amazing. Ive been going to Loft Five for years and the food never disappoints. I am however not happy about the steep prices increase over the last couple of years. Most items on the menu are above CHF 40, which I find very unreasonable. Also, my friend ordered a fish dish and mentioned his allergies beforehand. The staff brought the fish with a sauce which contained the allergen. They thankfully double checked and took it back. However, at this price point, Id expect for a substitute to be made (a different sauce to accommodate). Otherwise staff was extremely responsive and friendly, very professional and the food was of a great quality.

Loft Five offers fine and creative drinks. The staff is very committed and always serves with a smile. The only point of criticism is the EXTREMELY loud music. If you don't want to shout at each other indoors, it's better to choose a place outside.

I had a Vitello Tonnato there that tasted very good. It was pink and delicate. The staff is averagely friendly. We wanted a small salad before the main course, which the waitress didn't understand and was confusing. She brought one anyway. I was shocked by the price of 42 francs for the little bit on the plate. Despite the fried potatoes and salad, I walked out hungry. The 3 small slices of bread wouldn't have done much either. All in all: Far too expensive. Nothing justifies such a price.
