Drafts every now and then. A bit small, but nice. Upscale price range.

I had to try this place after reading about it on Gault&Millau. We had the Spaghetti Vongole, Carbonara and Bistecca Fiorentina. Carbonara is very good and satiating, made with a fair amount of pecorino cheese. The Fiorentina was good too, served in a sizzling skillet. Overall it was good

Restaurant with charm and friendly service. The selection of the card was good and very easy. the pasta was good and the wine selected was top value for money. The only thing is that the space was very tight with a group of 9 people. keep it up!

A very small restaurant with charm and super good food. Definitely worth it for a cool meal. A ristorante molto piccolo with fascino and cibo super good. It is important to ensure that the pen is made using a pasto fresco.

Daniele is an excellent host! The wine selected had an error and was replaced without any problems. The food is tasteful and very authentic. Paneolio is one of the best Italian restaurants in Zurich with excellent service and very fair prices!

Authentic Italian cuisine of top quality

A great Italian oasis with a garden in the middle of the beautiful district 4. Very good authentic Roman cuisine in a cozy, stylish atmosphere. Everything is fresh, especially the seafood is of the best quality. We always enjoy coming here. No longer an insider tip.

Very unfriendly service, the food was bland and fried!!! Opening times are unclear. A week ago we reserved two places for 6 p.m. The restaurant was open but there was no staff in the room, nor did anyone come out of the kitchen where chatter could be heard. The restaurant was untidy and not yet prepared for service and only after several calls did the manager of the restaurant come. He rudely showed us our table outside and then disappeared back into the restaurant. We order an aperitif which came relatively quickly but he still didn't give us a card and disappeared back into the restaurant. After a while he came, gave us the card and disappeared again. The map is in Italian and we only understood half of it. The boss was behind the bar and was busy preparing the place. We asked him to please advise us. When he came we were told to be polite since the place doesn't actually open until 6:30 p.m. We weren't rude! We explained to him that we had reserved for 6:00 p.m. On his website it says open from 6 p.m. but he continued to snap that that wasn't true and asked us who made the reservation. We didn't know the name of the woman who made the reservation for us (very politely and kindly) over the phone. Assessing guests, he said that anyone could say that and emphasized again that he only opened at 6:30 p.m. To our disappointment with the service, the food was very bland, extremely hot and the noodles were overcooked. There was little fish and the bacon was fried. The salad was rich and good. We don't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The ambience is nice and the outside area really feels like in Italy, but the service was really bad and the food wasn't great either. Note: Thank you for your "nice" feedback on my review, dear boss of the house, but if you read other reviews of your company carefully, I am not entirely alone in my criticism. Removing my post and your rude answer from the history doesn't help, the one star still remains. By the way, my companion has the same opinion as me and will definitely not come to your restaurant again. Of course I also wish you a nice evening.

The meals are very delicious, the place is really cozy and has a good vibe overall. I really loved the place. (Don't be surprised, it is a good place worth to visit, but you will find Zurich prices)

I was very impressed by the cozy, typically Italian atmosphere and am already looking forward to the next time. My girlfriend was also very happy with her choice of restaurant. The garden is located next to a road, but you feel like you are in the country - completely surrounded by greenery and flowers.

I can't say anything about the food, just the service. Which restaurant is open until 10:30 p.m. but turns away guests at 8:55 p.m. because the kitchen is closed? We came from the other side of town because of the long opening hours. If it was a restaurant/bar/café I could of course understand it, but it's not. I work in a restaurant myself, closing the kitchen 30-60 minutes before closing is understandable, but not more than 90 minutes. In addition, the tables are very close together and it is very loud.

The rating should be seen in relation to the price of the dishes. Food was good, but not special. Service was a bit inattentive. It took forever for the main course to be delivered. The location is nice, but overall there are too many tables outside, which leads to (too) long waiting times. Enthusiasm is very limited. Will stay for one time visit.

The food was very good but unfortunately we had a very bad experience with the service. After we received the wine everything went wrong. We had each ordered a starter and a main course, there was olive oil on the table, you might think there would be some bread with it, but you thought wrong, there was nothing. When we placed our order, an hour passed and nothing came! At some point the waitress came and noticed that something was wrong, suddenly she came with the main course and asked if we would like the starter afterwards. Of course not! We just wanted to eat and then leave. Usually when something like this happens you are offered something, but no, that didn't happen either. So we thought maybe they would offer us the water but no, not that either, nothing came from the staff. Even though the food was good, we definitely won't go there again! What a shame!

The atmosphere was cool, the food was good, especially the pasta! But the service was unfortunately very overwhelmed and the bill at the end was incorrect on several points.

The food itself was excellent, the pasta was great and the desserts were also impressive. Only the service wasn't great. The food was incorrectly priced and we felt a bit left alone in the corner of the garden.

Absolute disappointment. Hopefully the chef just had a bad day. But we probably won't want to find out about that anymore. Unfortunately consistently unsatisfactory.

Nice location, nice outdoor area. Service ok, food more like that… The wine and dessert were good. As a starter we were served an unripe, tasteless avocado. Carbonara tasted good, but lukewarm. The other pasta dishes were ok. Rack of lamb tasted good, the potatoes with it were average. Beefsteak was well-done and not medium rare as requested. At these prices I would have expected much more. This visit was definitely a flop.

Food is okay, service is dreadful. The woman serving was okay. The bald man didn’t smile once. Wine was brought to the table and not served nor given the possibility to try it. Not recommended especially if you are Italian and know what real Italian food tastes like

Unfriendly staff and unclear information on the menu.

Everything was fine, unfortunately we had run out of our favorite food and in winter it is unfortunately very cramped inside. Especially if the person sitting next to you at the table has a dog that farts all the time (the paneolio has nothing for that).

Delicious food, their risotto ai funghi was seriously one of the best risottos I’ve ever eaten, and was off the menu, cooked because we wanted a vegetarian option. The house wine was excellent and the prices were very reasonable for Zürich (50fr per person with wine and dessert). Will definitely go back.

Reserved - confirmed - today I was thrown out: Cancellation without contact is not possible!!! I was even more disappointed when I contacted them by phone. Errors were blamed on the system instead of admitting errors. Mistakes can always happen💁‍♂️ But you should own up to it!

The norcino and truffle pasta came with grated cheese already on top from the kitchen. Cheese was not mentioned in the menu and I don't eat cheese. I also-ran looked awful with the cheese already melting. The pasta was way too salty and the truffles had no taste at all. At 38 CHF it was way overpriced for what you get.

Excellent meal! The T-bone steak for the main course was perfectly prepared and the meat was of very good quality. A recommendation!!

Unfortunately, the carbonara was totally over-peppered and the pasta was cooked a little too soft. I felt like I was a nuisance to the staff. It's a shame, actually a sweet, cozy Italian.

The carbonara tasted like salt with bits of pasta, the rest was mediocre at best. The service (I believe one was the owner) was rude, unmotivated and disorganised - they definitely chose the wrong job. With so many fantastic options around Wiedikon, I’d avoid this place.

Service is rather unfriendly, prices are definitely 100% Zurich, hospitality needs to be optimized and the kitchen is okay, but it really needs to be cheaper! Unfortunately, the menu is rather unimaginative. We won't come back there again, it's a shame.

Unfussy and yet always pleasantly surprising dishes. The host is a Roman original with a very fine hand in the kitchen.

The place is small, cozy and quiet. The service was good and the food as well. But the problems started when the bill arrived (see the picture): in general prices are unjustified for the quality of the food served, even for Zürich standards. 9 francs for 1 liter of water is simply outrageous and what’s worst is that, as you can see, the prices are in euro for some reason, resulting in a 10% markup at the end. I admit I’m not 100% sure, but I think that the prices on the menu were what in the bill are reported as prices in euro, which is not very honest. Overall worth a visit but there are better options in the area

Excellent food and place,and last but not list an amazing service. A young waiter welcomed us,we later learned his name was Mizar. We spoke no German neither Italian. He was incredible patient with us,despite how busy the restaurant was. Also honest and frank about his menu choices. And when the food arrived .... an magnificat complete experience .

We were happy - supposedly fine pasta, looked nice. Unfortunately, the landlord has a reading disability and only planned for 2 of our online reservations of 3 people. Despite the half-empty restaurant, no solution could be found because he read the reservation correctly for the other guests who were still coming and theoretically there was no room. Better eat somewhere else ;)

Lovely food, outdoor seating was nicely decorated in foliage. Waiters friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Spontaneous visit. Simple, yet great food. Fantastic wines selection (recommend Carlo Negri 2016). No nonsense place, just to my taste.

I have enjoyed the place and the food. High quality and simplicity. The dishes are prepared just the same way you would expect by good restaurants in Italy. If you are looking after your budget this is not the place but the experience deserves the price. Parmigiana and carbonara are two of the chef’s best specialties.

Little Italy in Zürich! 'No nonsense' restaurant, the reason why we like Italy and it's kitchen. Perfect fresh pasta and salads, chicken and meat the way we adore it. Reasonably priced wines. You start talking Italian as Italy is all around you! We'll be back!!

Always nice to go to this Italian restaurant. Food is good and service very easy bur caring. Products are local, fresh and tasty. I love this place especially in summer when you can enjoy a pasta in their outside terrace. Very good selection of wines and oil is amazing.

A little Italian restaurant with good food and decent prices, the place is really really small and I can't emphasize more on how small and cramped it is, however on the bright side the management thought it is imperative to have an oversized bar counter to impose over the cramped tables? I guess it's one of those mysteries that never get to be solved. Seriously now, the food is nice.

Everything almost perfect. Starter as per menu, excellent! Secondly, a little less, we had asked for the "senion" fillets to be cooked, instead they brought them "medium". Foie gras not great, burnt underneath and cold inside. Not very good quality at all. For the rest everything is impeccable.

We were the five and last guests who left the small but exquisite paneolio a little after 3 p.m. after a grappa offered from a magnum bottle. The occasion for the special lunch in genuine Italianita was a birthday; We will also remember it fondly from a culinary perspective - at a reasonable price for what we had!

One of my favorite restaurants in Zurich... Small but nice and always a pleasure! I've always eaten well and the staff is very competent and friendly. I'm looking forward to when the weather gets warmer, then you can eat outside in the courtyard - a nice and romantic atmosphere!

The food is good but unfortunately the unfriendly staff takes away your interest in eating. Very unprofessional and arrogant and this also from the boss. Otherwise high potential...

Pleasant light, but far too many tables in a space that is far too small. My wife almost lost her nerve because someone (guest, waiter, cook) kept banging on her chair. In addition, far too many reservations were accepted, which meant that people regularly waited at the table next to us for 5-10 minutes for their promised table and basically watched us eat. Map: Map in very special handwriting in Italian, so that we first had to wait 15 minutes for the waiter's explanation, who always had to take care of the arriving guests whose table was not available. Food: We ate a carbonara without cream (hats off) and with Quanciale according to the original recipe, but had the feeling that the Quanciale was slightly burnt. The burrata with raw ham and grilled vegetables didn't knock our socks off either. The food or The other meat and fish dishes may be better, but due to the atmosphere, service, crampedness and over-reservation, we wouldn't go to Paneolio again.

Friday evening, 6:30 p.m.: Unfortunately I can't share these great reviews because we didn't enjoy the food at all. Despite asking over the phone whether the reservation was okay, we were almost insulted and simply left standing because the reservation in this "chicken battery of a restaurant" was simply squandered. Well, that's Zurich and its gastronomic upstarts; With the level and some good reviews, it's usually worth it. I would like to but can't, and everything at double or triple the price I only gave the star because otherwise the post wouldn't have worked!!!!

Quite good food with good ingredients. Starters simple and very good, but largely because of the high quality of the ingredients - this doesn't require any great art. Pasta was also good, but quickly got cold (no preheated plates?) and a little too sour from the white wine in the sauce. Maybe 2 minutes more patience..?
