The restaurant opens at 5.30pm. We had made reservations so we had pretty window seats! The hosts and Kellner were really friendly and nice. It was an enjoyable dinner, lovely vibes. Started with the bread and olive oil, it was good. The truffle risotto was made on request. Thoroughly enjoyed the texture of the risotto. Food was pretty pricey (slightly above the average in Switzerland)

There were nine of us who dined in a cozy atmosphere at the Portofino. The atmosphere is very appealing and cozy (that's why we stayed seated until the police hour 😊). The service was professional, the employees friendly, personable and very attentive. And the food... just to die for. I'm already looking forward to the next visit!

I’ve been on European travel for 12 days and this is by far the best dinner we have had in the entire trip. Cooked to perfection. Big piece of Sole beyond compare. Vegetables nicely done not to hard or soft. Polenta rich and redolent with corn grain. Generous portions. The owner explained many dishes and was attentive and helpful.

Great experience from beginning to the end. Our young tattooed waiter was super nice and speaks several languages. You can find typical Italian dishes that are cooked perfectly, with love and passion, probably by an Italian chef. We were in Lucerne over the weekend and apart from the breathtaking nature, we spent our last evening in the Portofino Restaurant. Absolutely great! I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Service and ambience is absolutely top!!

The waitress gave us suggestions about possible combinations. This allowed us to try meat and fish. Nice appetizer platter. The tiramisu tasted great, but unfortunately it was a bit dry and some of the biscuits weren't soft.

A few weeks ago, me and my husband were able to celebrate our civil wedding in the Portofino restaurant. We decided on a 3-course menu. Everything was perfect, the food, the ambience, the support and especially Alesch the manager was so nice and sweet! Our families had a great time and praised the food! Alesch is simply a great person, very open and he really responds to all your wishes. Here are a few more pictures of the food :) We can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the dishes. We have been on a busy Monday evening in this cozy Italian restaurant. My family and me felt warmly welcomed by the authentic hosts. The quality is outstanding, great selection of wines by the glass and a care of details that is rarely seen in this segment of restaurants. We instantly made ourselves at home and followed the owners suggestion, ordered a selection of starters: bruschetta al pomodoro, seared scallops on green asparagus with an asian twist, hand-cut veal tartare with pistachio and lime zest (amazing!). Followed by main courses branzino mediterranean style and a tender/juicy, perfectly grilled bison entrecôte with truffle side dishes. We will come back for sure, the 40 mins drive from Zurich are well worth it!

A very good restaurant with very good service and food

This restaurant is absolutely recommended. The hospitality and the ambience round off the good food. The quality of the food is high class. Thank you and we'll be happy to come back. Please make a reservation as there are not that many places.

This is definitely a 5 starred place anyone needs to try in the neighbourhood. The two staff were so energetic and friendly. We had a hearty meal despite feeling under the weather. Food tasted RARELY good. Minestrone soup was special and packed with veggies. Enjoyed the olive oil with salt and black pepper, such a unique touch. We had the truffle linguine and grilled sea bass with pine nuts and risotto as a side, risotto was so so good. Wish I could be back again.

I got pasta from Portofino yesterday and I have to say it was probably the best pasta I've had in Lucerne so far. The service was extremely charming and with a relaxed attitude. This way you feel welcome and leave with a smile. Will 100% come back

Wonderful evening. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was AMAZING! We got the pheasant ragu, antipasto, side of fresh pasta, bruschetta , and north Italy beer. All were excellent. I also loved the decor- modern but warm. Highly recommend.

I was in awe when I received my food and took a first bite. Everything was so flavourful and delicious, freshly prepared in house and from the best quality ingredients. I found this place simply because was the closest to the hotel we stayed, just around the corner. Luckily we get last table without the reservation on a busy Thursday evening. The service was good and we got our food quite quickly considering the amount of guests in the restaurant at this point. The menu is not big but I'm sure everyone will find something for their taste. I was so hungry I couldn't skip starter, so I ordered bruschetta and it was amazing. The fresh tomatoes were almost sweet and the bread was crunchy. The homemade raviolis with spinach and ricotta accompanied by buttery sauce were melting in my mouth, tagiatelle were perfectly cooked al dente and the sauce rich. I heard the meat was tender and also melted in mouth. I had to try a dessert so I went for panna cotta and they delivered. Sweet and creamy. I would gladly come back if I ever visit Lucerne again. If you love pasta - go and try this place out.

Starving on a Saturday night, decided to have dinner here on our first night in Lucerne. Big mistake. Waited in line to be seated just to be ignored, and possibly racially profiled by 2 female waiters who repeatedly stared at us and walked right past us. It’s busy, that is fine. However, one of the waiter decided to take in a local couple who came after us and seated them right away. Still, no one acknowledged our presence. Then, one of them proceed to ask us to dine elsewhere because they’re very short staffed. Unable to comment on the food but the service is definitely lacking. Busy or not, please respect all your customers and treat everyone equally.

There are many good and even great italian restaurants in the city. Very few however with personality. It's not just great food and friendly staff but that personal attention that makes Portofino one of our favorites. Instead of a stiff crowd staring silently down on a steril piece of culinary art, quietly sipping on a glass of ridiculously expensive grape juice and hoping that nobody notices their secret desire to escape you see happy people enjoying a fantastic meal with friends and family, laughing and having a good time. It's that feeling of home and family where you can be yourself and relax while enjoying a scrumptuous meal. At Portofino there are no strangers just newly found friends. The food is authentic, pasta al dente and the scaloppine perfectly seasoned on point. The menu is classic. The presentation clean and crisp.

Not to be a pain in the ass but I'm Italian (Sardinian), and my partner is Neapolitan, Italian cuisine is something else...there was no salt and garlic in the condiments, poverty of flavours, prices too high for the quality you offer. .excellent waiter!

I had a wonderful pampering experience with my friends! The boss is not only a restaurateur but also an entertainer. You can be inspired by him in terms of cuisine and trust him. His menu suggestions and innovative style are a burner. If you don't visit here, it's your own fault!

The restaurant is very cozy. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The food has nothing to do with Italian cuisine, maybe the chef should take a vacation to Italy. It didn't taste good at all.

Friendly service, a smaller menu due to carnival. That was totally ok. The mixed salad was visually a feast for the eyes, but in my opinion it wasn't really a mixed salad that was worth the price. Penne Bolognese is a dream, large portion and really tasty Bolognese. Delicious!
