For me a hidden gem of Geneva. So much the better, it’s possible to go there without booking weeks in advance! But it’s worth the detour and the evening meal initiative is magnificent.

NOVEMBER 2023 Providence was granted to me again! this time in the form of lush greenery that extended from the starter to the dessert. At Refettorio Geneva, an establishment where haute cuisine mixes with a noble cause, I once again had the honor of tasting refined cuisine intended to awaken the senses thanks to the wonderful staff who serve and highlight the community, the cause , and the good. As a starter, a harmonious assembly of seasonal vegetables, including leeks and potatoes combined with tender greens, offered a perfect balance between simplicity and complexity. The addition of dried herbs, crisp on the palate, created a most captivating aromatic dimension. The main course, a hymn to pasta and trout, revealed indisputable culinary expertise. The different pastes, al dente, formed a setting for the trout aroma, both powerful and subtle, which invited an unparalleled taste journey. The dried herb powder brought remarkable freshness, a bouquet of flavors reminiscent of flowering meadows. As a culinary epilogue, the nougatine flan, deceptive in its simplicity, revealed itself with each tasting, brilliantly revealing all of its fresh components which lingered pleasantly on the palate. This dessert closed the meal with a light and refreshing flourish, inscribing in the memory the memory of an experience as noble in its aspirations as in the delights offered. “He makes grass spring up for the cattle, and plants for the needs of man, bringing forth bread from the earth” (Psalm 104:14). Each dish, delicately prepared, is an ode to inclusion, solidarity, and a deep affection for the community. During my first visits, I was both captivated and slightly disoriented by the raw but undeniably positive energy of the teams. It is impossible not to notice the passionate figures of the establishment, notably Mr. Bartoloti and Mrs. Hennessy, embodying a dialectic of affection and devotion. The first dish: A unique interpretation of the mushroom beef tongue, Fistulina hepatica, flavored with an umami nuance, forges a mosaic of flavors. The earthiness of the mushroom, the assertive character of Parmesan, and the velvety softness of cottage cheese combine in a symphony of taste. The second dish: Beyond a simple plate of pasta, it is a praise of the confit deer meat that is revealed. The pasta, al dente, intertwines with the delicacy of the meat, creating a harmony that transports Alpine serenity to Tuscan sweets. Dessert : The dessert, in its splendor, highlights the apple, an ancestral and universal fruit. Its refined presentation reveals a perfectly cooked, colorful apple, whose sweetness is magnificently enhanced by a creamy cream and a golden crumble. The magic of Refettorio rests on the pillars established by the Mater Foundation: the Value of Hospitality, the Strength of Beauty and the Quality of Ideas. More than a culinary establishment, it presents itself as a beacon of hope and innovation. Food is beautiful. It is impressive to see that even with the very basic ingredients one can make lovely meals. Speaking about the evening service for the needy. Unfortunately, what is not that exciting is the people. Many dare complain and send the food back. In one of the reviews, you referred to an unhappy client as a parasite. I can see many such people every evening. Sometimes I can even hear people swearing out loud. Ruined my birthday. My point is simple. People does not deserve such service. You implemented a very decent food waste policy so people that do not pay a penny waste it. Makes no sense. Many people should not go there. They show a lot of disrespect to your work and act like pigs. Never seen such a mess at the table after dining. Give you extra work. Pathetic.

I went to eat there as the beneficiaries are entitled to, to accompany a group, not being in need myself. Unfortunately very disappointed. The meal was neither good nor balanced, consisting mainly of starches, salt and fat. The atmosphere is cold, despite the fact that we are dying of heat, and help the music! The manager on duty pulls her mouth, throws the dishes on the table and without even time to swallow the last mouthful the plate is taken away from us. Too bad, because the concept is good!

New restaurant located in the Charmilles district of Geneva, accessible by bus, bike, 🏍️ motorbike, car if you can find somewhere to park. The welcome is warm and friendly, the setting is a little cold, concrete walls with relatively little decoration but we nevertheless feel very comfortable there. The menu is confusing, with each bite offering little-known but exceptionally good flavors. From starter to dessert you will not be disappointed. The portions are small but when you leave the restaurant you will no longer be hungry. 👍🍅🤗🐟🐔🍊🍰☀️🌻

There is a saying that states that people tend to be more inclined to leave a review when the service was poor which is totally the opposite with this venue. Have eaten there in the past two weeks and have already secured my reservation for the next four weeks! 😊 The set menu (omnivore or vegetarian) is changed every week, but makes you travel around taste and textures that you usually only have the opportunity to taste in expensive venues such as michelin starred restaurants! I do recommend this restaurant from the bottom of my heart given it allows all to have a delicious meal at an abordable price and is also for the good cause as you all may know from their concept that invite association to share the same menu to people in need. My only regret is that is only opened during week day lunches as I would love to try the selection of wine on their card 😂 . Keep up with the Good Work and Long Live the Refettorio!

Make me feel so good to help here as volunteer. The dishes are excellent and the venue is great to welcome people for a couple of hours. Go there for lunch and, this way, you contribute to the dinner for who is less lucky!

Went to the eatery with high expectations given some of the reviews I read. Myself and my partner ordered pancakes off the brunch menu. My partners pancakes were at best ok. They had the potential to taste great but inside the pancake was undercooked. I ordered the chocolate pancakes. I think the chef accidentally used salt instead of sugar. Mines were practically inedible… so much salt I could not even taste the chocolate. Quite expensive brunch spot for 3 tiny pancakes.

I was very well received by Rosa who just started two weeks ago. She is very nice and she recommended me a waffle with caramel ice cream with pieces of nuts. I loved eating there! There was also a very good atmosphere with good music.

First thing you will see coming here - exceptional cleanliness. The menu may be compact, but it has all the classic Mexican dishes you may want to taste. The food tastes great and is spicy, but not dangerously spicy for the most part. The portions are big (chicken burrito became both lunch and supper for me). One more notable thing is their classical alcoholic Margarita cocktail - really recommend it for even more pleasure during food.
