I was curious about the pastrami sandwich and I wasn’t disappointed! Antonio has a great sense of customer service, he took the time to explain what the sandwich contained, greeted everyone with a big smile and friendly words… the sandwich really was delicious. A gem in Basel!

As an ex-NewYorker, I like to believe I’m qualified to judge a Reuben sandwich. Well, it’s been years (decades?!) since I’ve had one this delicious. It’s perfect, down to the traditional Russian dressing. They even serve it with a side order of friendliness that one doesn’t normally experience at food establishments in this neck of the woods. And the price? Amazing! Bravissimo, Sapori Del Sud!

We discovered the shop by chance when we were in Basel for a day. My husband was torn at first, but then he agreed. The pastrami sandwich was delicious and the queue was definitely worth it. And everyone is greeted super nice and politely by the owner. Keep it up, very very great!

A little gem that deserves a visit. A takeway restaurant with a nice selection of authentic Italian “fast” dishes, managed by a lovely owner. The arancino alla norma was pretty good, but the pastrami outshined it. It was exceptional.

Even ordering the pastrami sandwich is an experience. The owner conveys a sense of anticipation that can be more than confirmed with every bite. The sandwich is excellent. If you haven't visited Sapori Del Sud when visiting Basel, you haven't seen Basel.

After weeks of not finding a good sandwich shop while traveling, we arrived in Basel. This was our first meal here and I fell in love. The owner made us the best sandwiches ever! And he was super friendly. If I lived here, I’d be very fat. That’s a compliment.

For a while there weren't many authentic restaurants or shops in Basel. Many belong to larger companies, have constantly changing staff or vary greatly in quality. Sapori Del Sud belongs to the other camp. Familiar, friendly, delicious. Gladly again :)

Small (South) Italian oasis in Basel with an uncomplicated host. You can order inside and eat outside, there are a few seats. I had the pastrami sandwich, which was very tasty. But you can also buy other Italian specialties.

Super delicious pastrami sandwich 🤤 A dream made of delicious bread, mustard, kohlrabi, cheese, pastrami and pickles. A real highlight is the chef in the kitchen who enthusiastically prepares the pastrami and always has a funny saying up his sleeve. Absolutely recommended for 10 CHF per pastrami sandwich! Definitely a MUST if you are in Basel!

New York Style Reuben Pastrami Sandwich. With kohlrabi and cucumbers. This is very close to the original in New York and brings back memories of visiting NY. There is also a very nice boss who explains everything with passion. It's nice that originals like this still exist. Definitely worth a visit.👍👍👍👍👍

Everybody is talking about the pastrami sandwich but this place does some other magical things too…like proper homemade lasagna, parmigiana, cannelloni and so on! I went twice already in the last week.

A very nice takeaway. I usually either the pastrami-sandwich, or the lasagna. Both are homemade (I think by the Grandma in the kitchen?) and very nice. They often have small cannoli if you also want a dessert. The prices are also fair, one the best price-quality ratio of Basel.

Super delicious Sicilian specialties! If you haven't tried the Ruben or a pastrami sandwich yet, you should definitely do so! There are also delicious lasagna, pasta dishes, fried specialties and desserts that are simply to die for!

Lives up to its slogan “best pastrami sandwich in town”. Antonio is a likeable guy with a real southern Italian flair. The sandwich is topped with plenty of pastrami and complemented with cheese. There's also a pickle pickle, which complements the whole thing perfectly. With a bit of luck, there will be a sweet surprise from Antonio during your visit. In addition to the sandwiches, he also offers other take-away dishes such as canelloni, lasagna or parmigiana, which are also great.

This is an Italian Tak - Away Very nice tour, from the boss himself! There are small and large panettone, made by the chef himself. And very good snack. there.

The seating is very comfortable and I find the distance between the tables particularly decent. There you don't get the feeling of eating like sardines in a can. It's always nice and we had a great afternoon there. I'm sure I come here with my relatives and can rely on being looked after without complaint. We were there together and each of us ordered something different - I for one can say I tried a bit of everything and it was great.

This small Italian shop makes the best lasagna of Basilea. When eating the lasagna I remember the love and attention for cooking from a typical humble Italian mamma-nonna. It is difficult to find places like this!

Lucky enough it was only a 5 minute walk to the tiny shop and even though we went during it's opening, a line was already beginning to form. We were immediately greeted by the shop owner in Italian and although he spoke very little English, he was very friendly and even offered us a sample of the pastrami meat. It was delicious and moved forward to buy 2 sandwiches. In minutes the sandwich was made a voila we had our breakfast in hand
