We made reservations 2 days in advance for Saturday for 6 people. However, we found ourselves in front of a closed restaurant. It was closed due to technical problems. No attempt was made to inform us. My girlfriend tried to call beforehand and inform the restaurant that we would be arriving a little later. But no one picked up or messaged that it was closed. I find it extremely rude to treat customers like this.

We wanted to have lunch at Senso last Wednesday. The opening times on the website and here in Google: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. But we were standing in front of the closed doors at 11.50 a.m. We saw the lights on inside, but no one was in sight (perhaps the lights are always on...) and we then made sure again that that day wasn't a bad one It's the restaurant's day off or they have information somewhere about company holidays... but we didn't find such a reference anywhere. That same evening we wrote an email and asked what their opening hours were (only by reservation, etc.). It has now been 5 days and we have not received any feedback yet. We also read through the reviews, apparently the opening times are not an isolated case... What a shame!

We've actually been there several times on different days. The last time was about 2 months ago. When we were there today I was really shocked. The Wagyo Bun starter, which used to be four pieces for 38 francs, is now suddenly two pieces for the same price. According to Koch, they haven't gotten any bigger. I always take the sushi platter. I only got a plate of shrimp. Salmon etc. were all left out. Previously this was a variation of various maki rolls with different fish. As of today we will no longer go and will no longer recommend it. It's a real shame because I find the concept and ambience really pleasant!

We had reserved a table at Senso thanks to the recommendation of our friends. When we arrived we were totally impressed by the ambience and the warm welcome from (what we assume was the owner). We had the waiter recommend a menu. It started with a Wagyu Bouns as a starter, then between courses we got an omakase platter that was a dream in terms of appearance and taste and then the crowning glory was the selection platter for 4 people which was a treat for the palate. All in all we had an unforgettable evening. A big thank you to the whole Senso team!

Water bottle was placed on the table heartlessly and without being poured, carpaccio basically consisted almost exclusively of rocket, beef fillet was burnt and not as tender as you would expect and the wrong open wine was served (which coincidentally was almost 3x as expensive as the one ordered). . In a standard restaurant I could live with all these little flaws, but unfortunately the performance is out of all proportion to the price paid. Either the quality, quantity and service or the price must change quickly in this restaurant. However, the high-quality and stylish ambience should be highlighted as positive.

I recently visited this restaurant and was very disappointed with the service. The waiters were rude and in some cases even racist. I would not recommend this restaurant. It is unfortunate to say that the service at this restaurant was very poor. Even though I had a reservation, I was thrown out of the restaurant after an hour because we supposedly didn't consume enough, but we already had 2 sushi rolls and cocktails and actually wanted to order more but were no longer served. This is not only disrespectful, but also unprofessional. I therefore strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant and eating elsewhere where customers are treated with respect and decency.

Went there for dinner, great atmosphere, nothing wrong with that. The fillet was a bit burnt on the outside, otherwise the food was okay. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. The restaurant is beautifully designed, there were only 3 tables occupied when we visited. The plates were cold and so was the food. The foil baked potatoes were neither wrapped in foil nor salted and brought to the table lukewarm due to the quark. The prices are too high for the quality and size of the meat. The service was friendly, but the lady could neither recommend a wine with the meal nor clear three plates together. We will not visit this restaurant again.

The two of us had dinner at Senso Kitchen yesterday. My conclusion: Appetizers: Tartare and grilled peach Both really tasty and very attractively served. 5* Main course: Dry Age Porterhouse with tuffle fries and Dry Age Black Angus Bone In Rib Eye with grilled vegetables. This meat was simply delicious. It was exactly as we ordered it. And the side dishes were great too. 5* Dessert: Cheesecake 5* Wine: Ripasso It went perfectly with our meal Service/Hospitality 5* Ambiance: 5* Yesterday we had a fantastic and delicious evening from A to Z. Very nice restaurant in the middle of St. Gallen. The food is delicious. There is a good mix of meat and sushi. The atmosphere is very nice and the service is very friendly. Some time had passed before the main course arrived. But the wait was worth it. The Wagyu beef from Argentina is truly a dream. The sushi is extremely good. Beautifully prepared. The mix of meat and prawns was brilliant in the sushis. The place isn't cheap, but if you want to treat yourself to something nice, this is the place for you.

The concept of the restaurant is quite good so far. But nothing more. If you charge 26 to 80 Fr. per 100g of steak, the quality of preparation and service should be at this level. The 300g fillet was still raw inside, despite being ordered medium and cold too. And paid 78.- for it. The service is underground. I don't think anyone in this shop knows anything about gastronomy. The staff didn't communicate with each other, which is why there was a visible confusion. There was also a mess on the table; Cutlery and glasses are not arranged in any harmonious arrangement. Several times the bottles were placed in front of my nose after pouring and twice I had a tablet stuck in my back. The waiter came from somewhere to the side, not from the right as he should have. They didn't ask if the wine would be added, they just poured it in, things were brought without being ordered with the sentence yes, you'll eat it. The waiters were dressed like butchers and had such a walk. Added to this was the forever long waiting time. Arrived at 8 p.m. and had the main course on the table at 10:30 p.m. In summary, catastrophic service. You will get better service in a pizzeria where you can get full for 20!!

The food was really very good (we ordered both sushi and steak and various side dishes). Big compliment to the kitchen. The rest of the experience was just bad. Waiting time for the starter was 1h30 and then an additional wait for the main course. The wrong dishes were brought out all the time (wrong sushi, poké bowl with salmon instead of veggies, etc.). Considering how long you wait for the food, towards the end we had no interest in waiting any longer for the food. When making the reservation it was also expressly stated that a table in the front area was desired. Instead we got a table at the back. Would be a great restaurant with a good location if they had things under better control. Especially given the high prices, you expect more competent service.

First of all: We ate better at Senso Kitchen than we had in a long time and felt more than just comfortable! As a starter we had a salad with fried mango pieces: the mango was well grilled, had a good sweetness and was not lost in the dish. The salad dressing was also a bit sweet, which went well. The creamy burrata on the salad was the icing on the cake! For the main course we shared the Sushi Spicy Tuna, which tasted fresh and not fishy at all! My mother doesn't really like sushi, but even she loved this! For dessert there was the cheesecake, which, like the other desserts, came with fresh fruit! The cream was very airy and had a good, real strawberry flavor! The French toast was my dessert highlight and I would recommend it to everyone! It was perfectly fried and not soggy either. The dulche de leche rounded the whole thing off perfectly. The espressos were also very good, you can tell the quality here. About the service: The people were very friendly and attentive! Even when there were somewhat unpleasant customers at the neighboring table, they remained calm and friendly;) We immediately felt at home and also enjoyed the elegant ambience! We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Cute but very expensive for food that isn't that great and service that is absolutely not up to par. We order sparkling water: it arrives natural. We order white wine: they don't even tell us what bottles they have, they bring a glass of white and bon. For those used to fresh sushi and quality fusion restaurants, forget it. I took the sea bream ceviche: very good even if the fish wasn't exactly soft. Instead, the "chef's" mix plate of sushi and sashimi and the salmon California rolls were very heavy stuff with fish that looked like it was ground, it wasn't clear if it was really there. Instead, more or less spicy mayonnaise was everywhere. Half of this dish were fried rolls with shrimp. All in all it cost us 100 CHF each without dessert and it left me feeling sick. Oh... and we didn't even order the California rolls. I had explained to the waitress (in correct German) that I was fine with the starter and the chef's mix, but oh well...

The first impression counts. Before you even sit at the table, you are made aware that there is no wine list. Then 2/3 of the aperitifs contain Pisco, but that evening there were no drinks with Pisco because it was missing in the bar. Throughout the evening we were served by different service staff, which sometimes seemed very chaotic. The tables are way too close together for this price range. At the end, the service staff apologized for the lack of staff that evening. There was nothing wrong with the quality of the food. The food could be a bit more fusion.

-30 minutes until served + Starter was good (sushi & salad) -1.75 hours until the food came (everyone ordered 400g steak, meat was not medium as requested but raw, the meat was definitely not 400g even if it had bones far from 400g, side dishes were missing or completely forgotten and had to be replaced " be ordered -no sauce, salt on the table -Card payment is not possible???!!! Conclusion: Senso a great place to eat sushi but definitely not worth it to eat steak. There are much better options in the city. It was definitely NOT worth the CHF 754

Not recommended… We had a reservation at 8:30 p.m. When we arrived we were told “you have to be patient, your table isn't free yet and we can't just send people away”. After waiting for 20 minutes, we were finally able to get our table. The table was not cleaned and the previous guests' glasses were left behind. We ordered a bottle of natural, non-carbonated mineral water in advance - they brought us carbonated mineral water. Then they wanted to empty the water into the glasses that had already been used. We then ordered 5dl of white wine (Sauvignon), they brought us 5dl of red wine...after we asked them to bring us the white wine we had ordered, we received lukewarm Sauvignon. Rating service: 1/10 The starter (leaf salad) was very dry because the Italian salad dressing was used sparingly. Also in terms of taste, nothing special. Rating starter: 3/10 For the main course we each ordered a beef fillet (we ordered medium, but received rare) of 200g each with a side dish of “truffle fries”. The taste of the main course was ok, but not nearly what you would expect from a restaurant with such a high price range. Rating main course and side dish: 3/10 Last but not least, we wanted to try the cheesecake, which we only received after the 3rd reminder. Cheesecake rating: 6/10 The highlight: you could only pay with cash and were asked to go to the nearest ATM to withdraw money. Conclusion: NEVER AGAIN SENSO.

Briefly summarized: Unfortunately it felt like you came on opening day, even though the restaurant has been open for 2 months: - you were greeted by another customer who was just leaving the restaurant with the words: "Have fun" and rolling your eyes... - very long waiting times until you get the cards (the drinks, wine and menus are separate and are brought to the table separately every 5 minutes. Anecdote: The waitress wanted to take drinks even though the menu was only at the table. The fact that the drinks menu might have to be brought was not taken into account. Even though no wine was ordered, the wine glasses still remained on the table.) - You order the Wagyu starter, where the menu says "4 pieces", but 2 pieces are brought. When asked, it was said that the size and thus also the quantity were adjusted. - Very long waiting time until you get the food you ordered (75 minutes). “Medium” was ordered and “rare” was received. - Side dishes are not served at the same time as the main course. - Over the course of the evening, contact with 3 waiters, although no one feels specifically responsible for any table, looks are constantly ignored and people prefer to chat with colleagues. The managing director, who already ran the previous restaurant at the same location ("Proper Pizza" for 6 months until it had to close), helps out a lot and literally takes the work out of the others' hands. He was easily recognizable because the other employees worked in shirts, but he wore a T-shirt, used the first name of every guest and gave a "friendly" pat on the back when paying. - Speaking of which: You haven't been able to pay with a card for a week (see other comments). This is not communicated to you in advance, there is no invoice, so you have to go and withdraw cash (unless you are walking around with CHF 200.00+ in cash). - Approximately 3 hours of waiting, with 25 minutes waiting for the menu/order, 75 minutes for the food and 45 minutes for the bill. The fancy chairs in the entrance area have the typical new modern problems: they look great as long as you don't sit on them. The backrest ends in the lower area of ​​the back, which means you can't lean on it without breaking your back. - The best entertainment, however, is the other guests, who voice their displeasure in a low voice, sometimes directly to the kitchen.

A steakhouse has qualtiy meat and this restauarant does, yet the portions they claim to serve, i.e., 400g for a porterhouse steak USA is questionable. The preparation was quite good. The side dish portions were acceptable, tasty and nicely presented. But, until we finally could enjoy the meal, more than 1 and a half hours had passed. Arriving at 18:15 our drink orders were first taken after 30minutes which we then received 30minutes later, only to receive a warm glass of white wine, this was replaced at our request. We were kindly obliged with a change of table as that next to the entrance was too breezy. Finally, the dinner order taken again 30 minutes later, using a malfunctioning ipad, by this time we had hoped at least the starter would calm our appetites. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Another 30 minutes later I needed to ask the waiter where our dinner was at which time he asked my what my order was. Suddenly, 15 minutes later, our meal, starter included w no bread for the tomatoe salad was delivered. I immediately ordered 2 glasses of red wine, which sadly were delivered, later by the manager, when we were almost finished with the dinner. He was more than apologetic for the delays with the wine and the food as a result of staff shortages and new personnel. Oddly, not 5 minutes later the waiter came w two more glasses of red wine and was confused how we already had wine. These two glasses were then offered on the house. OK. Let's go home and not risk ordering a dessert as by this time the restaurant was quite full as opposed to almost empty when we arrived. Paying the bill was the icing on the cake as we were not able to pay with EC or Credit Card as their machine did not work. We had luckily enough cash to cover the bill, and pay the park garage. This was a sad experience as we have also been KMU business owners and after COVID we make it a point to support these institutions, well aware that the GASTRONOMIE industry has hardships. In addition it was my birthday. I can add here that the tables of people around us were experiencing the same hardship of delayed service and with some who came later getting served faster, why who knows, others left without waiting any longer. In conclusion, I do not see me trying SENSO KITCHEN again nor can I in good faith recommend it. With 4 cooks in the kitchen and not an extremely complicated menu, I fail to see the reason for this malfunction in management, absolutely inexcusable right down to the payment. I sincerely wish I could have supplied a more optimistic review. 02.10.2022

Very nice restaurant, but that's about it. We were able to order our bottle of wine after 20 minutes. After 1.5 hours neither the bottle of wine was there nor were we even able to order food. The service skillfully ignored us and the tables next to us. We then left at 9.30pm with an empty stomach, no chance of finding another restaurant that still served food at that time. Thanks for that. An absolute no-go for what you have to pay. At least the water was on the house. It's a real shame because we've heard mostly good things about the food so far!

The four of us had dinner at the weekend. The intention was to try something new and of course that our women would also get a taste for it. As a starter we had various salata and sushi. I'm not a sushi fan, but it was sensationally delicious. Afterwards we decided on meat and wine. 400 grams of porterhouse and 400 grams of rib eye each for us men. The women had 200 grams of it. We chose the meat in the refrigerator and it was served to us as promised. Afterwards we had the feeling that we were on vacation. The wine and the atmosphere, the food and the relaxed music really reminded us of vacation. We were super surprised to experience something like that in St. Gallen and are looking forward to coming again on October 15th. Greetings to you. Deniz

Senso offers a really pleasant atmosphere and a great selection of food. We had the rib eye, baked potato, salmon nigiri and the salmon avocado roll. Taste/presentation: clear 5 stars, it's super tasty, especially the rib eye had a fabulous taste and was cooked medium rare as requested. Not only did it look good, it also tasted good. The baked potato was also very tasty, but could have been presented more beautifully. There are also pictures here that promise more than the baked potato we received. The curd with it was extremely tasty. The sushi is good but not exceptional. It tastes very good, but I would have liked more unusual variations with salmon (e.g. with mango). In this case, the meat came before the sushi in terms of taste. The presentation of the sushi was great. The sushi chef came to the table with the burner and flambéed the salmon right in front of us. A small but great experience. Service: The service was certainly still new and therefore somewhat unsettling. But he was super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, this is a quality that many people seem to lack. In that respect we were very satisfied. However, there are also points that I think could be improved. For example, it would have been nice if the wine glasses were cleared away when no wine was drunk. Unfortunately there were no chopsticks or soy sauce, both had to be brought later (at each table). The soy sauce was then not left at the table, but was taken away again. This can result in the customer not having enough sauce overall and having to ask again. The payment at the end took over 30 minutes from the invoice to payment. Unfortunately that is too long. I think there is still a bit of coordination or structure missing, but it should all be doable. We were traveling with a dog and he received a friendly welcome. Unfortunately he wasn't offered anything to drink. Nevertheless, there are 5 stars because the food was very tasty and the service is good overall, with potential for improvement. The ambience is also great. We will be back. However, the price is quite high for the sushi. The meat, on the other hand, is fairly priced.

New restaurant in St. Gallen? One that must be visited! We are greeted warmly and charmingly for lunch without a reservation. Delicious lunch menus are available to choose from. A great and cozy atmosphere with lots of plants. Excellent cuisine with dry aged and umami taste and great wines accompany the delicious food. Worth one or more visits!

Fabulous cuisine with terrible service! The restaurant is very centrally located and offers an ambience that takes guests abroad. There is nothing to complain about in this aspect. The selection of dishes is varied and tastes very good. However, where there is a lot of room for improvement is the operation. From such a modern and new restaurant you would expect trained service staff. On the one hand, the contact and communication with customers is not good. Physical contact with the customer and on a first-name basis is out of place in such a place. On the other hand, you have to draw the service staff's attention several times to obvious things such as a wine list and soy sauce. The empty wine glasses remained on the table until the end.
