Korean BBQ for Swiss price but still worth it

It was my first time visiting here and I'm so excited that I'm coming back. The restaurant looks inconspicuous from the outside if you've never been here before, but as soon as you entered the restaurant I was very surprised at how beautifully and harmoniously it was decorated. A bright room with beautiful decorations, What I really like is that the tables are far enough apart. Very positive even if you have the BBQ you don't feel like it. Which I think is very, very good. I had the pleasure of trying Korean BBQ for the first time. The side dishes and sauce selection leaves nothing to be desired. I immediately found my way around the grill. What I think is good is that if someone doesn't know this yet, it will be explained briefly to the guests. So don't worry, you're not left to your own devices. The quality and portion size correspond to the price level, which I find to be very, very good. For the BBQ I would recommend Magoli rice wine or soju I really wanted to try another soup and then chose the Galbitang soup and also asked for it to be spicy. It had exactly the right amount of spiciness so that the ingredients came into their own. I can highly recommend it to everyone The meat was very tender. The time from ordering to serving the dish/ingredients is a pleasant one. Even when the crowd is very high and the restaurant is full. If you have any further wishes you will contact the staff and they will come to you straight away. Serive on customer note. 1 Conclusion. Shilla is a must if you are in Zurich and want to eat Korean food. Please reserve in advance, it's worth it for you. Thank you very much for the good food and the service to the team. We had dinner here with family today. The food arrived quickly and we were served very friendly by the staff. Everything fine! Highly recommended!!!

Not recommended. Dirty and very loud atmosphere. The food is average. The service is lousy, dishes are not cleared away, orders are ignored. Zero care. The employees don't speak a single word of German. There are no ice cubes, no cappuccino and no Campari...they wouldn't have that...hard to believe...

The food is great! The employees are very friendly. The restaurant filled up quickly, so it's worth making a reservation first. The only negative point is the portion size, which is rather small for this price. Otherwise highly recommended.

Delicious food if Korean BBQ is desired. A bit crowded and loud but that's the price of success.

The food is tasty and the employees were all friendly. But for the prices charged, I have to evaluate the whole. Both rooms were not well insulated, so the cold from the street entered. The decor was reasonable, as was the bathroom. These are not important factors, but when we pay for 2 people almost 200CHF for the meal, I think we are looking for quality in all aspects.

As everyone complains, the prices are way too expensive! The meat was so rich in fat that it resembled slaughterhouse offal. The difference between larger and normal portions is only noticeable in the extra charge! What I don't understand is that no one (except us) mentions a problem with general hygiene. Toilet super dirty! Restaurant floor had balls of dust everywhere, the grill table hadn't had a thorough cleaning in a long time! Old layers of fat in the gaps! I don't understand how the restaurant can pass a hygiene inspection!

My fav korean restaurant in Zh! I recommend hemulsundubu (soup with seafood, ask for less spicy if your tolerance is low), kimchi bibimbap, cold noodles, marinated beef for bbq (make a reservation before coming)

Points to improve : Service for a big group very bad and unorganized. I booked 3 weeks in advance a table for 20 people at 8 pm so that the restaurant is prepared. The restaurant was very careful and called me 3 times before that date to be sure that I'm confirming and I did. Since it was a celebration I arrived at 8 pm to make sure I can welcome my friends and guests. To my surprise the tables were not ready for us. And i was trying to find someone who can help in the restaurant and set everything. My friends had to wait until some other tables are free so that they can add them to another big table. It looked like that the restaurant was not ready at all. And my friends hat to lift tables and arrange the space. The tables got prepared very late and alot of things were missing like glasses of water that I had to ask to bring to the guests. The servers were very nice and kind however, looked overwhelmed and kept bringing either missing orders or wrong ones, or bringing to another table the wrong order. To finally pay, they didn't know how to manage payment, they printed the bill for me which contains more than 50 orders and asked my friends who got what. This should be the restaurants service to manage and figure out, not us. They should include a system for big groups. We paid more for items that we didn't know from where they came, but when it's a large group and no system in place these things easily happen. Positive notes: The food especially the barbecue and starters were super tasty !! The Sonju excellent and we all enjoyed it. The room is private and nice and had few other tables so we could enjoy our time without disturbing other guests. The servers were super kind and whenever I asked for something they did their best to accommodate us. The manager came during the meal to ask if everything was okay and thats thoughtful. Since it was my birthday, my friends asked if they can bring a little cheese cake with a candle , and that's super nice as well. Overall I'll give a 3. But seriously the service for large groups should be reorganized and prepared in advance and better :) I'll come back but just with a friend or 2 not 20.

Horrific service. Servers forget our orders, then charged us for extra things we didnt order and probably hoped we don’t notice. We were a group of 4 and they only gave us 4 lettuce leaves and didnt refill when asked. The food is okay, not really authentic and they didn’t serve us any side dishes (they forgot?). For the high price (50fr+ per person) it is not worth it. If you want korean food just go to Misoga instead. No idea how this place has such a high rating

You cook yourself, so it's more expensive. The meat is ordinary, the vegetables parsimonious, only the rice passes the ramp. Bobos welcome...

I agree with the other reviews. The BBQ is really solid, delicious marinated meat with small side dishes. Big drawback: The price is absolutely not justified. Merry Christmas.

10/10 excellent service, nothing to complain about.

It was very good but expensive for the quantity. Real concern for service: Despite a reservation, we had to wait standing in the middle of the restaurant without being informed for several minutes. After ordering, our meat took 25 minutes to arrive, although tables that arrived after us were served more quickly. When the meat finally arrived, the servers insisted on grilling our meat themselves, even when we started doing so. A waiter even took one of our meats, dipped it in sauce and put it in our dish without our consent. An unprofessional and unpleasant experience.. The staff also seemed dissipated, not necessarily listening. We had to ask again after 10 minutes for them to bring us our orders.

Very delicious Korean food! The business lunch at noon is not bad, there are not many people diners, and it is recommended to make a reservation on weekends. It's really good to have barbecue for weekend dinner, the meat is marinated and delicious. However, the service attitude at dinner is really not very good, and it even makes you feel a little uncomfortable. It is recommended to eat at lunch.

The food was quite good, but way too expensive. You somehow do it yourself in the middle of the table, on the grill. It's very loud and you can't have a good conversation. There were four of us and we were in the back of the restaurant. The clothes must be aired out after the visit, including the jackets that were in the closet. I personally wouldn't go there again but it was still worth a visit.

Nice European style Korean restaurant in Zurich! The food is a little bit more Europeanised but still tasteful, The service is fast and nice with English speakers, The atmosphere is like a fancy one with all of the stereotypes that you expect from a Korean restaurant. We had pancakes for starters which were a little bit bland, bibimbab which was really good with perfectly cooked rice and kimchizige which wasn't as good as I was expecting as the broth was plain!

Overpriced with small portions. We ordered "marbled" meat, but only the first slices had marbles. The sides were shared and portions were really small.

Nice service and very helpful! The meat is of very good quality! The dumplings, veggies, chicken and kimchi are outstanding! I think the price for the BBQ is on the upper limit! Marinated pork neck 200gr for 45.- is probably the most expensive pork steak in Switzerland! Otherwise very good!

I was there once. The restaurant was not clean. If the kitchen looks like the dining room, the hygiene standards are not ok. I wasn't impressed with the food.

I saved up money to celebrate a special occasion in that restaurant, with my friend. It was a one-time thing so we decided to order a lot of food. The food was so good and the restaurant itself looked very pretty. Unfortunately, we heard the waitresses say some really nasty stuff about us in vietnamese, that i dont wanna repeat here. (I think they weren't aware that we understood them) It ruined our whole experience there. Nedless to say, I won't be coming back. I would recommend the food but not at all the service.

The Shilla Korean BBQ Restaurant in Altstetten, Zurich offers an authentic culinary experience for Korean cuisine lovers. On a Friday evening, my five companions and I met there to try the Korean BBQ. The restaurant was already busy when we arrived, which indicates its popularity. We all ordered different types of meat for the Korean BBQ and were not disappointed. The food was really good and the quality of the meat was excellent. The selection of side dishes and sauces that were served with the BBQ rounded off the taste experience. The Shilla team treated us to efficient and friendly service, which made our evening enjoyable. However, one disappointment was that the amount of food served for each person was rather limited. We were just about full. This may be a strategy by the restaurant to encourage guests to order additional desserts. However, it would have been desirable if the portions had been more generous, especially at a price of around 60 CHF per person, excluding drinks. Despite this criticism, the Shilla Korean BBQ Restaurant was an overall pleasant experience. The quality of the food and service were definitely highlights. If you put aside the limited amount of food or are willing to order an extra dessert, you can enjoy a truly authentic and delicious Korean BBQ here. Booking in advance is recommended on a busy Friday evening to ensure you get a table.

Day 7 of my trip to Switzerland... After failing at the Korean restaurant (Are) in Interlaken, I tried Korean food again in Zurich. I ordered flower meat, brisket, and soybean paste stew. The flower meat was soft and delicious. The brisket was good, but a bit tough. Sorry. I also enjoyed the soybean paste stew. The staff were friendly, and it was nice to see a lot of foreign customers come and promote Korea.

I made a reservation at 21.45. We arrived at 21.40 and we were told we had 15min to order because the kitchen closes at 22, and that starters and mains would come together. Really bad. We were first offered to sit in the terrace (it was a very warm night) but immediately after we were told we couldn’t because “there wasn’t any light”. Yet there was people dining outside.

My partner and I definitely go at least 1 time a month and every time it feels better. I couldn't say anything bad. It's perfect in our eyes. Heartily recommend it to everyone.

if you’ve eaten kbbq in korea before you don’t want to come here. meat is below average quality, price is not justified, even if you consider the location. selection of side dishes was also looking sad. when did all the korean waiters/waitresses get replaced with thai, viet and laotian people?

I had korean bbq so many times in US and Europa... Well. this restaurant is clearly the worst. Sorry to say that but the meat is really low quality. If you put these prices, at least use some decent meat... and the service is also below average.. disappointed... i was planning to have a company dinner here. It was a good idea to give a try first..

Was craving Naengmyun (Korean chilled noodles, a summer specialty). These hit the spot! The BBQ meat is also marinated in the authentic Korean way, not watered down for the western palette. If you want to try authentic Korean BBQ, this is the only place in Zurich I recommend.

Korean BBQ good place. I had a good time there. Food is good and the staff was super nice and attentive. I definitely will go back here. Only one thing, I know it's Korean and yeah, but not everyone is enjoying eating with the sticks, a proper silver wear would improve my experience there

The food was OK, some of the meat was sweet and I didn't like it that much. The staff doesn't speak German. I don't think it's OK in Zurich. Price performance was unfortunately not right for me.

We tried the BBQ, but unfortunately it didn't work well, also because the staff couldn't or didn't want to advise us. The food wasn't anything special either. We also always had to wait a long time for everything. Only the dessert convinced us.

I went there for my husband's birthday who knows korean food. As the price is high, we had a very high expectation. But the meat was not even remotely close to what you can get in Korea. If I just want to eat a table grill with lean swiss style meat, I can easily prepare at home. Other menu might be better, but I pitied people who eat there and think its an authentic Korean BBQ. Service was good though. I don't think I will visit there again as Korean.

Authentic Korean BBQ experience

Very good Korean restaurant (especially table grill) - it's worth making a reservation. The price is a little higher, but that's what you're used to in Korean restaurants anyway and is completely appropriate here. Very friendly team and owner.

For lack of other options worth mentioning, this is the only place in Zurich that serves decent Korean food – but for a premium price tag. Don’t expect anything out of the ordinary, but it is good enough to satisfy your occasional cravings for Korean dishes that you might not find at other restaurants in Zurich.

Service really bad. Eating is like that. But it's dirty, dusty, etc. everywhere.

The food was very good. We ate the Wagyu meat. I would have liked a little more side dishes to go with the meat, but you'll be full. The bill was brought to us without asking, even though we didn't sit there long after eating. Waiters only speak English, but that wasn't a problem for us.

Side dishes very lean. Kimchi was very nice. We thought charging extra for rice at these prices was excessive. We didn't get any change. Of course it was considered that we tipped 11 francs. Really disappointing. I was so looking forward to it and well. Entrance, the restaurant itself wasn't clean at all We don't even talk about the windows and the tables. I didn't understand the operation very well and was constantly playing with her hair. Food was ok but an absolute rip off 5Fr for extra mini rice. I'll definitely never go again

Nice food even though it's hard to get a complete meal without paying a lot of extras. Pricy but tasty. Service wasn't ideal but it was crowded. Staff is very friendly.
