Smith And De Luma in Zürich

We were able to hold our two-day seminar at Smith and de LUMA and it was top from A to Z! The space is very bright, well equipped and the service was perfect. The lunch menu in the restaurant was perfect and super efficient. Gladly again!

We celebrated our wedding with 65 guests at Smith and De Luma. We were listened to with all of our ideas and wishes and the event management implemented everything with us. During the planning phase, Smith and De Luma were always available for us and were more than present on the wedding day! Thank you for your safety and work! Furthermore, we were given honest and benevolent advice regarding the planning and the space. The chef and sommelier took a lot of time for the rehearsal dinner. We were able to benefit from many years of experience and had an incredibly delicious meal for our guests! The aperitif was varied and prepared with attention to detail. The service was absolutely top notch and accommodating. The Smith and de Luma team is characterized by professionalism. This is mainly the feedback from our guests, the location alone is unique but their performance has exceeded it. The work done by the team on site was enormous, we didn't have to worry about anything and are endlessly grateful. We had the most amazing day at Smith and de Luma!

Great steakhouse here in Zurich. I was here with customers and we took the "menu". The steaks were good, although we ordered medium rare and some seemed to have been served rather rare. All in all it was very good and I can fully recommend the restaurant for all carnivores. Enjoy it.

Extraordinary, great atmosphere, individual advice and service. The food is a sensual delight.

The service was subpar, I'm sorry to say. There were 7 of us. We waited forever for the menu, we barely understood the person who was in charge of our table, even after several requests to repeat or speak louder. More than 30 minutes after ordering, I was informed that a piece of meat I had ordered wasn't there. I only got my main course more than 10 minutes after the others. The prices are steep for what is delivered. Unfortunately nothing more for us after the experience.

We ALWAYS leave this place with a full and happy belly. If you’re craving for delish meat - here’s where it’s at. Perfect cuts paired with amazing sides, flavorful dipping sauces… and what a great wine menu they have! Their service staff is very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Expensive ingredients that are not prepared very well. Service inattentive. Highlight: Voespeise arrived 1 hour after ordering. After the starter we were informed that a main course was no longer available. Restaurant ok but price/performance doesn't match

Bettina was very helpful and uncomplicated when organizing our company dinner. I really appreciated that she was present on the evening of the event and introduced me to the two people responsible for us - both of whom were super friendly and accommodating. Even a short-term children's meal was made possible. I only received praise for the food: soup, meat and dessert were excellent and served quickly. Some would have liked a second helping of the meat - not because the portion was too small, but because it was so good! Despite testing beforehand, I couldn't connect my iPad. Luckily the chef de service lent us his! The agreement was until 2 a.m., but we didn't have to finish straight away and were allowed to wait another hour. Thank you for the great evening.

If the restaurant is half empty, I would expect that it would be quicker at lunchtime than waiting 30 minutes for the food to arrive - especially if you order something from the daily menu.

Very cosy place with not special food. We took the crab (great idea, but was too dry- like it was pre cooked and heated again), not worth the 30 chf. The ribeye steak was also nothing special for this price, not very tasty meat. Tartar was ok, could be better. Loved the chocolate truffles though and the wine!

I can say that it is a Michelin restaurant that is not on the Michelin list. I didn't like all of the products, but every product I tasted and the wine recommended was great. The biggest problem is that the wine and the food on the table run out 😭😭😭

We were there for the Office Christmas Dinner. Location is nice, but we waited forever between courses and the sauce for the main course was too salty. It was a real shame because otherwise the photos of the meals look really good. Maybe it's better if you go privately.

My companion and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary. The food was excellent and the waiter (Robert) clearly enjoyed his job. He entertained us throughout the evening and gave us good advice about food and wine. Organizing my special request for a rose for my companion worked without any problem. We will definitely eat there again!

We had the pleasure of dining here last Saturday and it was nothing short of exceptional. When we made the reservation, we asked in the comments section for a comfortable place for us as a couple and Simon from the team not only fulfilled this request, but even exceeded it. The place was perfect for a romantic evening, and the heart brownie as a surprise after the meal was the cherry on the cake. A big thank you to Simon for this loving gesture! The attentiveness and professionalism of the entire team were impressive. We always felt cared for and in good hands. It is this level of hospitality that takes a restaurant visit from good to exceptional. I can only rave about the food itself. A culinary masterpiece, particularly worth mentioning is the perfectly fried meat. The quality and freshness of the ingredients were palpable, and the variety on the menu made for an exciting and enjoyable experience. The little touches, such as the appetizers from the kitchen before the meal and the delicious chocolates afterwards, added to the overall experience. Such subtleties made our visit unforgettable. I would like to thank Simon and the entire team again. Your commitment and ability to create a special experience for every guest deserve the highest praise. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Were there for a date, overall rather disappointing. The selection of open wines (approx. 5 pieces) could not convince us. Unfortunately they didn't have all the meat (at 7.30 p.m.), so we had to choose alternatives. I can imagine that the selection is better in a large group, but with two people you are more limited (sometimes fixed sizes of pieces of meat). The service made an effort, but we often had the feeling that they were overwhelmed, even when the restaurant was half full. I probably won't come here again. There are better steak places for the price.

If you like to eat a lot of meat, this restaurant is perfect. There is a large selection of meat and many delicious side dishes. Furthermore, the service is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and always happy to have fun. We had an extremely pleasant evening and were served to our complete satisfaction by Robert. In addition, the sommelier (Katja) is extremely competent and listened to our needs and made a very good selection for us. Very good advisor!

They want to sell you the tavolata for everything... de facto - a lot of bones, a lot of fat, we don't think it was the 1.6kg we ordered. Service was nice but not attentive. All in all, well... there are better places in the city / Niederdorf for the money.

Excellent and highly professional service, which is a rarity these days. Exquisite dishes, especially the seasonal saddle of venison. At times the selection of cuts is a bit limited - I would have been happy with smaller cuts. The atmosphere is industrial, the table spacing is okay, sometimes the music was a bit too forward. All in all a “must see”.

Spacious, very urban restaurant with an old industrial flair and still cozy. We were a group of 40 people and yet there were no cuts or compromises. Neither in the quality of the food, nor in the friendliness and certainly not in the wine. Was a real experience. Even the trip to Binz is worth it.

The food is excellent. Steaks are high quality and perfectly cooked. We had also ordered the Veggie Tavola and all the dishes were prepared with great detail and had amazing flavours, each one different to the others. The interiors are quirky and industrial but also cosy at the same time. The highlight was the staff. Very friendly, attentive and trying their best to meet your wishes. We were there for my birthday dinner and they offered me a nice dessert on the house. Thanks a lot Smath and de Luma team for the nice experience.

Food was very good and the suggestions from the staff were spot on.

Sometimes bad service, bad food and above all cheeky prices for a third of a banana with some chocolate sauce and a piece of ice cream 16 chf a laughing stock. Half of them had to go to the toilet afterwards and one even had to puke. The wagyu fillet was just a tasteless piece of butter. The food ordered was mixed up and delivered incorrectly, and the steaks weren't even asked how you wanted them fried. When they realized that they had gotten the wrong piece of meat, they simply said, “It doesn’t matter, as long as you’re full or” you were basically treated like second class just because you didn’t come in a suit. Despite the large group of people, there was no proper greeting or no small thank you at the end in the form of coffee or something similar. In short, you were quickly dumped and finished. The waitress was great, but her colleagues were less so.

The Tavolata is absolutely recommended. At the beginning we were rather skeptical as to whether the cheapest dishes on the menu wouldn't be served, but we took the chance anyway and were thrilled! Starters were all included in small portions to share. Likewise with the main course, the side dishes for the meat. The three different types of meat for the main course were very tasty and perfectly prepared. A restaurant for meat lovers who appreciate quality.

At Smith And De Luma, excellent cuisine meets an enchanting ambience. The restaurant, especially the outdoor area, offers a romantic atmosphere that invites you to dream, especially in the evenings when the lights gently illuminate the surroundings. The service is characterized by friendliness and courteousness, which makes the entire visit to the restaurant a real pleasure. Overall, the meat dishes are excellent. The fillet was absolutely great - the taste was a hit and the portion of 200g was just right. The ribeye was also excellent in taste, despite the fact that it was partly more tendon-laced than usual. But this small point of criticism pales in view of the overall high quality of the meat dishes. The side dishes also impressed us across the board. They tasted excellent and were served in perfect quantities. A special highlight was the excellent wine recommendation, which ideally rounded off our culinary experience. In summary, Smith And De Luma is a real insider tip for meat lovers. Despite minor criticisms, it offers a first-class dining experience, excellent service and a romantic atmosphere that is particularly effective in the evenings. A restaurant I can highly recommend.

I visited the Meat Academy twice, twice it was just amazing. Great selection of food and drinks, service that is impressive. The course leader/grill master is an expert and knows what he is doing. Will definitely return as a guest in the restaurant.

Terrible restaurant!! Eating there is an impertinence!! The service woman is so cheeky and serves pork to Muslims without saying that it is pork, and then she is too stupid to ask how you want the meat to be fried! The best thing is that you have to wait an hour for the starter and 2 hours for the main course!! Juice shop really

A personal favorite for a sunny (friday) lunch: @smithanddeluma with their lunch menus (around 30CHF incl salad/ soup and dessert) and beautiful sunny terrace. Great value for money, daily changing menus (fish/ meat/ veg) as well as tasty burgers (also with a vegan option). 😍☀️

Very expensive restaurant with disinterested staff. We paid 350 CHF for a starter, two main courses, water and two glasses of wine and went home hungry. The food was good, but not great either. The fact that you have to ask the service to clear the table after 10 minutes of empty plates speaks for itself. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We had the Luma Experience... it reminded me of the offer from an Argentinian restaurant in Costa Rica.. there was also a flat rate price - but for both people.. and with an amazing selection.. here 69.- per person and 3 pieces Meat, beef, pork and duck in total. Rather disappointing. Service: Outstanding!

Poorly ventilated and too “bulky” in concept for me. Instead of normal sentences to explain the items on the menu, there are memorized - very sophisticated - explanations, but some of them don't answer the questions you have. Not my case. But the food and wine is good.

Today was my first visit to Smith and de luma and I can only recommend this place. Nice atmosphere, committed staff and excellent cuisine. Lovely again.

Good food and service, a bit more on the pricy side but it was really tasty. Nice location too. Ventilation didn't seem to work properly so our clothes smelled greasy afterwards.

The Smith And De Luma is housed in a totally stylish location very close to the Uetlibergbahn station Binz, from where there is a direct connection to the main train station. The lighting is very pleasant and the staff is extremely attentive and friendly. The food (for example the green salad as a starter for CHF 14) is also beautifully prepared and really tasty. In that sense, Smith And De Luma would have deserved five stars. Unfortunately, the food concept dates back to the last century, when it was still possible to successfully suppress climate change. The menu consists mainly of dead animals, which are then flown in from all over the world (USA, Japan, Argentina, etc.). Actually a huge culinary crime against the environment. There are vegetable side dishes for vegetarians (which are actually very tasty), but there is actually nothing for vegans, as the vegetables are fried in butter or served with a non-vegan sauce. It's a shame, because as mentioned at the beginning, the location and the motivated staff deserve more stars.

I did not have dinner, nir was I in the restaurant, but went for a wine tasting and the place is very nice. It has some chairs which is good for people with standing problems, they had a nice apero and good wine. I presume this does not have anything to do with the restaurant, but Vinum rented the room

Massively over-priced. Paid near enough 70chf for a small salad (starter) and a piece of beef with packet fries and a beer. No vegetables were given and meat had way too much sauce on it. Was not even asked how we would like it cooked. Its a one time experience for me I'm afraid.

Excellent food: high quality meat and very nice starters, side dishes etc. Very impressive selection of wines. Service is professional and friendly. However, I do think the place is slightly over priced.... Edit - a year later Disappointment. Looks like management has changed. Steaks were over cooked and feedback on that ignored. Prices are even higher. 16 chf for side dish? ( really not tasty). I won't return.

Great place to eat a steak and enjoy excellent wine, I must empathize on the wine, they serve it at right temperature, but all of their wines needs decanting, please improve on this.

They can meat! Awesome! But let's talk about the side dishes first, it's Veganuary! That's more than an excuse, what we were served here with the Tavolata. Simple, light salad, tender oysters, something like warmed by the sun, and more. Not big, but just perfect balanced. And this butter, wouwww...not just a 'Cafe de Paris' with dry herbs, but a delicious cream with lots of truffle served in sweet potato... the wine recommendation was a complete and positive surprise... but back to the meat: perfect. ps: everything served in a relaxed, sweet, humorous and gallant way.

Disappointing.... something changed, but not in a positive way. Menu got smaller, so did the portions, quality went down and the prices went up. To bad. As it used to be a favorite of mine. Still love the wine shop and great selection of wines.... but will not come back any time soon I’m afraid.

Very disappointing experience. Extremely overpriced for what it offers- 40chf for a slice of chicken?! And then an additional 16chf for side of potatoes and another 4chf for a sauce on the side? Strange..Also, the atmosphere and service also not great. When I went there over year ago, it was a bit better so something had changed. You could tell as the place was quite empty on a Sat night. Go somewhere local and easy for some basic meat dish, not here.

The atmosphere is good, suits a date night, and the staff is friendly. The steaks are perfectly cooked, and the selection of cuts is decent. Also, they have an extensive selection of wine. The appetizers, side dishes and desserts are just ok, which ruins the experience.

Another experience compared to the usual places.

Very cool location in which we were able to hold a private celebration (i.e. in the back area). The room was nicely decorated and had a wardrobe and seating. Highly recommended for private occasions. There was an apéro riche with a selection of various appetizers. This was very good and the service was always refilled and the staff was very active. You were never left stranded for long and the selection of wines was of course great. In terms of price, the location is rather upscale, but still seemed fair to us for what was on offer.

Very stylish and nice restaurant. The food is mainly meat, but there are vegetarian options. The meats are incredibly high quality.

We waited one hour for a cold steak, then got told it wasn’t cold, we just didn’t know what „rare“ meant. Once warmed up to above room temperature, after much foot-dragging, the meat was quite good.

The service is excellent and always friendly and helpful. Really good. We had a table right in the middle of the restaurant, but there are also seats outside. The furnishings are modern. In addition to the restaurant in the same building there is also the wine shop, which also houses the toilet. The toilets were clean. There is also another area for events at the back. The starters were very good and the greeting from the kitchen, bread with salmon cream was delicious and something different. The meat as the main course was amazing. Perfect to the point, we had fillet and it was incredibly tender. You don't need any sauce or spices. We thought it was perfect the way it is. As side dishes we had fries, which were homemade, and new potatoes, which were something completely different. These are small potatoes filled with sour cream and truffles. Absolutely recommended if you like truffles. There are four different sauces, all of which are special in their own way. For me personally the herb sauce was the most successful, my friend thought Cafe de Paris was the best. They have also come up with something new for the cocktails, so in addition to the normal ones, there are also special cocktails that are really something different. The wine list is very large and there are many very, very good wines that are perfect to drink with meat or with dessert. We felt very well advised here. Thank you very much There are a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant but not many. We came with the public ones and would recommend that to anyone else. All in all, a top restaurant that we would be happy to visit again and can only recommend. We found the price to be more than reasonable for what you get.

Great food and perfect place for events!

wagyu fillet; was previously unfrozen. Had no taste at all and the chef kept running around. Didn't say hello to anyone and didn't even bother with the kitchen. Save yourself the man. The service was very friendly and attentive. Overall I was unfortunately very, very disappointed. Sorry but just being honest

Location is very hip and cool. In my opinion, value for money is not right. The lunch “menu” was rather disappointing. Tried it once but I don't think I would eat it again. Maybe for an aperitif, yes.

A very good experience of gastronomic luxury. The staff was very attentive and served flawlessly. The atmosphere was very simple and therefore pleasant. Unfortunately, there are cars parked right in front of the veranda... that ruins the picture and the atmosphere for me personally. The food was exactly as expected and advertised. As a guest without daily restaurant experience, it wasn't easy for me to recognize what was on the menu. The table was a little too small for all the delicacies that were served to you. Reasonably priced, good. A recommendation for culinary-savvy guests who are looking for a sophisticated dinner on a later summer evening (currently). Suitable for dates and business lunches.

I have visited the restaurant several times and I am impressed every single time. My colleagues, to whom I have recommended this restaurant, are also very enthusiastic. From the starter to the dessert, fabulous. In addition, there is the excellent advice for the wine pairing. For me, clearly the best steakhouse in Switzerland.

Great restaurant The quality of the meat is top notch and the wine list is very extensive. The service and surroundings are very pleasant. Wine Shop next door. The prices are Zurich without being "overrated", but at the limit.

Towards the end of our stay, when the restaurant was around 2/3 full, this unfortunately slowed down and seemed hectic and overwhelmed. The waiting time was endless and we had to ask twice for dessert. -Overall: Solid thing, something you can do.

Wine and beer was very good. Soup excellent. Meat was decent. Side dishes terrible: Fries very very dry, spaetzli swiming in fat. And worst part: with lunch menu you got soup or salad, main dish and desert. They did not have desert to serve anymore and they did not try to find any solution, but they charged us the full price of the lunch menu. Alternative was to take other desert for 9 chf additionally, basically they didn't care a lot.
