Good cuisine, nice staff and fast service

One star because zero is not possible… I had an incredibly disappointing experience with this restaurant and feel compelled to share a warning. Firstly, the delivery time was unacceptable – I waited 55 minutes for food that, frankly, was not worth the wait. When it finally arrived, I was shocked by the portions; they were so small, they wouldn't even be enough for a cat. Considering the premium price charged, this disparity between cost and quantity is outrageous. To add to the frustration, when I called the restaurant to express my dissatisfaction, the response was appalling. The staff were not only uneducated on how to handle customer feedback but also completely careless about the concerns I raised and hung up the phone. Their indifference to my experience only further soured my opinion of their establishment. My advice? Save your money and avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of other options that will value your patronage and provide a far more satisfying experience. Never again will I waste my time or money here, suggest you do so as well!

Very delicious. Big portion.. friendly staffs.. easy to reach from everywhere.. in a summer time they open their Beer Garden at backyard.. very nice.. dont forget to visit balirelaxzurich (instagram) its also near there.. the best Massage in Züri Altstetten..

I love the stars. Great boss who also helps. Friendly staff. In summer I love being in the garden with my two dogs. Located directly on the border between Zurich Altstetten and Albisrieden, the Sternen is a unique piece that belongs to District 9 like the lion to Zurich!

I live in Paris and when I come to Zurich you absolutely have to stop by here. The veal liver is to die for. The cordon bleu the same. The service is pleasant, nothing more. Well, the prices are those of Zurich.....: Stratospheric but you have to pay for quality.

Is getting worse and worse. If you didn't have such a great garden you could close it. Service poorly organized! Landlords complain, but they don't really make an effort. If I spend Fr 75.- on drinks, main course and dessert without wine... I expect a certain performance. Won't come anymore.

Nice atmosphere in this hidden place in Zurich. Cordon bleu with Appenzeller cheese is my recommendation.

Good home-style restaurant with friendly service. The smell in the inn was a bit stale and old-fashioned - luckily you can sit outside when the weather is good. The "Yummy" dessert should be revised. No half! Scoop of ice cream with sweet cream and caramelized walnuts is getting sweeter and sweeter and is simply not worth the 6.90 Fr.

It used to be different. Very large portions for fair money. Unfortunately it was way too big and tasted better in the past (about 4 years ago). But friendly etc. The audience is very senior-oriented!!

At 28° and a cool breeze, it was very pleasant to eat at one of the many large tables under the chestnut trees. Of course the classic “Sternä Burger” was my main course and for dessert a delicious ice cream from Mövenpick! We'll definitely come back 👍

Cordon bleu is super good. If fries weren't frozen it would be 10/10 Update: super nice service, the lady was really very nice. But the waiting times have become impossible. Yesterday too, we waited 2.5 hours until we got our main course. It is slavery towards the employees. 30-40 tables and 3 waiters. Impossible. Dear boss, you should save money somewhere else and not ruin your employees.

I haven't been to this restaurant in many years as is rather far away from where I live now. I sat outside and had a drink. Even though it was rather chilly, it was a nice experience being there again. Inside it looks the same. Service was fine.

As always, very good food and friendly staff. The “special menu” to celebrate the 4-year anniversary was excellent. A 4-course meal for Fr. 25...it was awesome.

So the kitchen is good. The service quick. But it hasn't been changed for ages. Disabled people have no chance of using the toilet.

After 55 years we met again and this time not in the classroom, but in the stars. Even after so many years, Sternen was the right place. Service very good, food ditto (even though there were 16 of us, everyone could order à la carte). The atmosphere with the great bar was also very nice 😊. The star was the right choice.

Lovely staff and owner, good value for money food and awesome garden during summertime. They have regular specials - watch out for their Thai food market, ist awesome!

It's just a very nice big garden with good food, nice portions at normal prices. A nice atmosphere with friendly service (even if you sometimes have to wait a bit, but that's not the fault of the staff, they are very hard-working, friendly and very hard-working. Maybe it would be good to hire a little more staff on weekends). I would be happy to come back and would be happy to recommend the stars.

The restaurant impresses in the summer under cozy chestnut trees, the staff is super motivated, prompt, lovely. The offerings (food/drinks) are good, in moderate price segments, the ambience inside is rather rustic but very comfortable. A neighborhood restaurant with charm like there aren't many left; go and have a look!

Service was very nice, nice garden to sit outside. But the food is mediocre to below average. Lukewarm, limp and dripping with fat Rösti (the menu says crispy Rösti) with lukewarm veal liver that wasn't good either. The food was carelessly prepared. Instead of fries I wanted spaetzli, which was confirmed to me, but I still got fries. We were accommodated with the bill. 3 stars because of nice service, good soup and beautiful garden. Soup was excellent but also rather lukewarm. And they didn't have many guests when we were there. With this selection of restaurants in Zurich, you would think that you should make an effort...

Landmark gastronomy. Great garden. We were in a group of 30 at Barsääli. Everything worked perfectly.

We were in the beer garden, which is quite cozy. The staff and the service were very nice. Unfortunately it took almost 40 minutes for the food to arrive, even though there was still plenty of space. The food was ok, but the price/performance ratio was a bit overpriced for the simple cuisine. My wife's rösti was rather below average and after feedback to the kitchen, a second portion was prepared, which was unfortunately a bit burnt and very greasy. Horse steak was ok, rice Casimir too. The meat from the Zurich Geschnetzelte is sometimes tough = no go in Zurich. So you don't have to visit the Sternen because of the food (at these prices), but I can only speak for the beer garden, maybe it's better in the restaurant itself. If in doubt, just use Schnipo, it's the least likely thing to go wrong. ^^ It's very comfortable to have a drink, even if the furniture (cheap plastic tables, chairs) is rather less "appealing".

As always, on warm summer days I enjoy lunch under the chestnut trees in the pleasant shade. The food is good, bourgeois. The star burger is highly recommended.

Was nice. But it doesn't look good for the new hosts if you wait over an hour for food and then get the wrong menu. I hope that the service staff will increase - otherwise I see no reason to eat out here again.

Nice big garden economy nice staff

We happened to land at Sternen on April 20th, 2022 and were very pleasantly surprised to find such a restaurant in Zurich. We sat outside in the beer garden and were very impressed by the atmosphere and the food. The service was quick at the table and the drinks and food were taken. The very friendly service delivered the drinks immediately and the food also came very quickly. It was very good and the price-performance ratio was very good for Switzerland. Many thanks and praise to the entire Sternen team.

Very good Easter dinner with asparagus. Diverse menu for every taste. Very good, middle-class restaurant in the city of Zurich. I'd be happy to come back at any time.

Unfortunately there were no garlic cloves in the fondue. A pity. In addition, the cutlet was "dry as a bone" and unfortunately not seasoned or salted in any way. - What's going on in the kitchen? The food was always very good with the “old owner”, but not anymore!

The Metzgete at Sternen is simply fantastic. With the Schlachtplatte the price/performance ratio is absolutely right. In terms of taste, everything was good, but the liver sausage was particularly worth mentioning. A dream. Definitely worth a visit every autumn, also thanks to the dedicated staff.

Food very good, service competent

We were there for the “Metzgete”. One of the best in the city of Zurich. Decent portions (we ordered a mixed platter for 3 people) fine sausage and meat products, plenty of side dishes; that's the way it has to be! There is also an extremely attentive, friendly and prompt service, as well as a boss who cares about the well-being of his guests. Definitely worth a visit!

Very fine Thai food. Friendly service with a beautiful view from the terrace. Perfect for a motorcycle tour to switch off for a moment :-)
