Thailodge in Zürich

Despite several negative reviews, we were completely satisfied and will definitely come back. The brunch from 9.15 a.m. to 12 p.m. consisted of a classic breakfast that left practically nothing to be desired. Lunch was served from 12 p.m. and lasted until 3 p.m. There were several delicious Asian dishes to choose from with plenty of desserts. Water was also available without restrictions. The staff was very motivated and extremely friendly and accommodating. As expected, the ambience with the view of the elephants was wonderful.

The ambience is of course beautiful and unique with a view of the elephants. The food, however, is a complete disappointment. Poor, poor, mostly meatless selection, the taste is more reminiscent of bland, watery canteen food or Asian food from cans from a discount store. Everything is far from real Thai food, and at a hefty price. It's a shame, the concept has a lot of culinary potential.

A wonderful evening with very tasty food in the Thailodge. The elephant tour with Lakshmi was very exciting and educational. She had great enthusiasm and a huge knowledge about the animals and the zoo.

I contacted this morning to reserve a table, and was informed that reservations were unnecessary for today. However, upon arrival, despite observing numerous available tables, I was told the restaurant was full. Additionally, despite it being a family-oriented establishment, we were not permitted to bring a baby stroller inside, and were instead advised to leave it downstairs with a sleeping baby inside. The staff's demeanor was unwelcoming, and despite my eagerness to experience the restaurant, this has been one of the most disappointing customer experiences I've encountered in Switzerland. I sincerely hope for improvements in either the restaurant's management or policies, as it's meant to be a promising destination to observe the elephants.

There were seven of us in the Thailodge for brunch including Thai lunch. The brunch was ok but nothing special. The Thai lunch, however, was disappointing. The food was not authentic, vegetables and rice were overcooked, dumplings were too dry and the soup was unfortunately inedible. Unfortunately, you can only experience the view of the elephants as advertised if you sit directly on the railing. Otherwise you won't get much out of it. The overall atmosphere is also kept very simple. The overall conclusion is unfortunately disappointing. The idea of ​​the Thailodge in the zoo is cool in itself, but not well implemented. Especially when you take into account the price of CHF 54 per person (excluding zoo admission).

The brunch was good, but you had to wait around 15 minutes at the buffet each time. At lunchtime our reserved seats were simply passed on and we had to sit with 10 people at two small tables that were very sticky and dirty. The staff is not the friendliest and doesn't respond to the customer. It was the last time for this price.

The brunch buffet was varied and good. Big plus point, the drinks cost nothing. The lunch buffet is rather disappointing. 5 warm dishes (3 wok), 1 soup and rice. Big minus point: the drinks are all chargeable. The documents and cutlery were missing at the lunch table. Conclusion, a great experience but it's not worth paying Fr. 54 for so little a second time.

The location is really nice. It's inside the elephant park of zurich zoo. So get there you need a zoo ticket + paying for the food which is a buffet for 38 frank. The food was average. But you have a chance to eat lunch at the same time and place with the elephants.

We celebrated a family celebration there and the view of the elephants is great. The furnishings are special and convey a flair. The staff was also friendly and the buffet was very varied and very tasty.

If you want tasty authentic Thai dishes, please avoid this place! Just because it contains glutamate doesn't mean you can't call it Thai. My rating refers exclusively to the Thai buffet. Grab a table below the restaurant. The view is just as good and 38.- cheaper!

We were at brunch as a group with a baby. Pro: Large selection, delicious food. Friendly staff. Cons: When we left the table, it was passed on (which is how it is communicated). However, you are not told that as soon as you come back there is no free table available, that we had to wait for over 20 minutes squeezed between strangers (Covid19 - there was something...?!), and that a smaller family had to leave the table in a hurry us and we received very unfriendly looks as a result. There was no cutlery/table mats served, so we had to take care of it ourselves. Most of the pastries were completely out of stock and the two coffee machines also went on strike at the same time. What exactly did we pay for? I expect this quality on an all-inclusive Mallorca drinking trip for 50.00 and not on a visit to a Zurich zoo for such prices. When we asked whether we would be compensated in any way, we received this statement: ................................................ ................................................ ........ We will also inform you in advance by email as follows: During brunch, participants receive a wristband that allows them to leave the restaurant in between and come back later for Thai lunch or dessert. When you leave the restaurant to visit the zoo, please take your belongings with you. When you return you will be assigned a new table. We understand very well that waiting 20 minutes for the second visit is too long. It is also a mistake that no cutlery or table mats were revealed to you on the second visit. We sincerely apologize for this. Individual pastries such as donuts, muffins or others can be temporarily “off”. However, there are always other products to bridge the gap sweetly, such as desserts in glasses, sheet cakes, cakes or similar. ................................................ ................................................ ........ Very friendly answer, but no response at all. For us, this is an “oops, who cares” answer. Task completed... We were a group of 6 people with a baby and in my opinion we spent enough money and didn't receive the service as promised. If an accommodating approach had been arranged, it would have been 3/5 stars, as mistakes can happen to anyone. But such a stupid answer deserves the same reaction. Maybe this warning will help you if you want to treat yourself... Get Ikea hot dogs for 1.-... you get something for your money... End of frustration.

The brunch was good but the Thai buffet was very disappointing. The food was bland and not authentically prepared. Very unfortunate. Not recommended.

Brunch was good. I found Thai Lunch a bit disappointing. Relatively bland, not enough vegetarian dishes. I also found it almost a bit cheeky that for 54.- per person for brunch & lunch (without zoo admission) there wasn't even a glass of water with lunch. Then you'd better just pay 58.- and put a jug of water on, that would have annoyed me less. Of course, you can't beat the fact that you can watch the elephants at brunch. Conclusion: It was a nice experience, but we probably won't do it again.

The food is great. Actually always the same 3 Asian dishes. But fine. Very special atmosphere in the elephant house. Thai decoration and furniture. Disadvantage: you need a zoo ticket to get to the restaurant.

On the Zoo Zurich homepage, customers are offered Thai brunch on the zoo grounds. The fact that zoo admission must be purchased separately is not mentioned and is only stated on the gift card that is sent to the customer. In my opinion, this is a misrepresentation of false facts.

The food was a big disappointment! Chicken sweet and sour was just sour and unfortunately with leg meat. Uncomfortable folding chairs and very tight seating! Not recommended!!
