Theatercafé in Basel

The food would be great. But if it happens several times that you sit there for over 20 minutes without even being looked at by the completely overwhelmed waitress, you no longer feel like it. Ultra embarrassing.

This is a nice cafe to sit with your laptop, you can connect to the WiFi and it is even relatively quite to have a zoom call. Cannot rate food since I did not eat , coffee is average. Overall, if you don’t have a place to go and this one is open - visit :)

Recently I was at the bar of the Theater Basel (or apparently in the theater café) and luckily - thank you very much for that! - Cash was still accepted there as a means of payment. The bartender was also friendly enough to put the coffee in a take-away cup that she brought with her! Many thanks! Unfortunately I didn't drink the coffee myself but someone who was there with me, but for the 2 points already mentioned I give it 5 stars :-) Gladly again!

Disgraceful behaviour from the waiter who I kindly asked whether they were open and still serving. His manner was sarcastic and blunt telling me to look around and see what I think, when a simple yes would have surficed. Shame as the café looked lovely but staff need to learn manners

Unfriendly staff destroys the whole peaceful theater atmosphere.

This special café in the upper part of the theater has a lot of space, both outside and inside. Unfortunately, there are always long waiting times, even though the service makes a huge effort. The walking distance is enormous due to the large amount of space; self-service or more staff would be better. The vegetarian menu is always excellent and for me one of the best in the area! The price is CHF 19, although there is no salad included. Recommend adding a salad, otherwise you might not have enough.

It would be hard to find a less motivated service. It gives the impression that the service staff has no idea what the job entails. If, despite all the incompetence, the guest was at least served in a friendly manner, everything would only be half as bad! Oh yes and the cake was extremely dry too!

A coffee that invites you to linger and relax. Good offer and always something going on. You can move around freely in the entrance area of ​​the theater “Foyer” and sit wherever you feel comfortable. You can read, talk comfortably together or simply listen to music. I had this soup there, the taste was on paw with the aesthetics. If you like beautiful places you should spend some time here. Recommended for dates or talks with friends on cold rainy days.

There are certainly nicer cafés, but it has its charm because it is housed in a stylish theater building. The staff are friendly and the coffee is good and the pastries at least look good.

In the upper foyer of the theater. Fresh menus (vegetarian 19.-- and meat 22.--) cooked with regional products. Unfortunately no menu salad included. Vegetarian menu sometimes portion size a bit too small. But always very tasty!

For someone like me, the theater is a unique place.

Chocolate cake is a must try! Very rich and moist. Place is inside theater basel. Spacious and quiet (maybe at the time of my visit 😅). Al fresco seating available.
