This evening I visited the Vito Store on Aschenplatz in Basel around 7:40 p.m. A slim, blonde-haired German gentleman served me, but he seemed unfriendly when I greeted him. I ordered a 3-piece pizza, but with my desired toppings and that it was freshly prepared. Unfortunately, I was informed that only whole pizzas can be made fresh. Given my long journey, I politely asked for a fresh 3-piece pizza with the toppings of my choice. He pointed out the finished pizza in the counter again. I noticed that they didn't look fresh; the cheese was already dry. Upon my comment, the employee claimed the pizza was fresh. When I asked how long it had been out of the oven, he replied that it had been ready for 20 minutes. This struck me as unusual and I pointed out that the pizza didn't look fresh. Nevertheless, my order was taken. When I asked to receive one piece of veggie and the other two pieces of mozzarella, the seller got loud and said that we have several vegetables WHICH do you want and that's annoying. This unfriendly behavior is not acceptable. I was quoted a price of 47 francs for the 3-piece pizza. I pointed out that about two and a half to three weeks ago I had received a whole pizza for 40.00 Fr. The employee explained that the prices had changed. If my behavior had been friendlier and more competent I would have accepted this, but I found the unfriendly and incompetent behavior unacceptable. Price adjustments of seven francs for a 3-piece pizza that isn't even fresh are disproportionate when I recently paid 40.00 for a whole pizza. I hope for a better experience in the future and will pass on my concerns to management.

Very good pizza, but it takes a while to understand what size is. Service is at the bar and during lunch you have to queue with the take-away guests, but in our case this was also helpful to know. What we wanted.

We ate there 2 days ago, it was great, it tasted very good, everything was perfect. Today we were there again and ordered the same thing with one difference: I wanted chilli oil on my pizza and my husband didn't want it because he is allergic. The man at the counter put chilli oil on mine and also on my husband's pizza. He couldn't eat it and returned it untouched. He got a new pizza and didn't notice anything while eating until we left. He is now in the hospital because of an allergic shock. Because the new pizza was so spicy it's really unbelievable and we won't be coming back.

Nice place and friendly staff. We ordered the metro pizza with 3 choices. The dough is nice and crispy. I was disappointed with the overall choice of ingredients and the way it was cooked especially with the pesto with strong acidic taste which contrasted with the tomato sauce that was too sweet. Also the prosciutto and fungi was missing mozzarella. Could have been much better in my opinion. This is clearly not Italian quality pizza standard.

Name a better place on this planet to have the best pizza with the coolest and most friendly service. I wait. - So much VITO love! <3

Nice place. I went with 2 friends. We took the 1m long pizza and we splitted into 3 different types: Salami (scharf), Mediterranean and Salsiccia. It was enough food for us for dinner and we took some pieces home. The staff was extremelly nice, specially one of the waiters, making really nice suggestions about what to order. And the price, reasonable, less than 25 per person (includying the drinks). I will come back for sure :)

I usually enjoy my experiences at Vito but last time it was a bad experience: - Pizza took more than 1 hour to arrive - Vegan pizza veggies were not fresh (eg, broccoli) - Music was too loud: not good for conversations and for kids

The food was great, the service was very friendly and committed, the allocated space was very limited and it was very warm in the far corner.

An ideal place to eat, the pizzas by the meter are fun. You can choose which one you would like and add ruccola, parmesan, mascarpone.......but it is self-service to take pizzas, drinks, and clear up. Good music, for all audiences.

The pizzas are hard to beat and if the staff isn't too busy, Vito is just cool.

The three of us got a meter of pizza at lunchtime. Taste was bomb. Cool location, old-fashioned Italian, rustic. Behind the very narrow entrance to the restaurant, there is more space inside than you first think. Nevertheless, it was a bit crowded for me, but that's normal at lunchtime and of course shows the good quality. Drink selection was currently a bit limited but the iced tea was delicious. I'd love to come back

I've been going to Vito for years now and am convinced that it is the best pizza in town. But today something strange happened. I wanted a big piece of Margherita. It still had a remainder that was 3cm larger than a large piece. The employee actually cut off a 3cm strip and left it lying around. When I asked if I could also have this piece, he said "No" he can still sell it, yes exactly. Am disappointed. A pity. Another example is that I was standing alone in front of the counter and wasn't served for about 3 minutes. Employees were available and standing next door. I had to say that I would like a pizza, what?

Homemade Lemon Ginger I ate pizza The dough is delicious If you come to Basel, be sure to go there. For Koreans, 4 people can eat one meal.

Overall a very good experience. Both the pizza and the drinks were well made and the place was packed even for Monday evening. The whole pizza is one meter long so make sure you know what you are ordering. The good thing is that you can split it up into 3 different styles so there is something for everyone. Enjoy.

As always, pizza at VITO was excellent, but unfortunately the staff was completely uncoordinated and inefficient:-( The take away counter was sometimes not served at all or the guests were not informed why orders were no longer being taken.

Very casual but awesome place for pizza. The quality of the dough and ingredients is very good, prices are fair, staff friendly and the location is casual and comfortable. We went in the afternoon and it was very empty. The kitchen is open and transparent and you can see the doughs and pizza being prepared. I can also recommend the iced coffee which wasn‘t on the main menu, but was refreshing and good. I will come back for sure!

Quite a cute eat out. The most scrumptious pizza's ever. They were XXL but thankfully you could choose to have a part of it, a quarter of it or just the whole thing. Great for a party or just whilst you hang out by the river. Friendly & fast service, clean and very recommendable! Try it to believe it!!

My husband and I received very tragic news by phone in the car that morning. We were shocked and sad and parked in front of Vito, crying. I went in, had to go to the toilet, needed a coffee. But it was 10 minutes before opening time! The employees, who were actually very busy before opening, found a way for us to use the toilet and have a coffee. They were incredibly sensitive, loving and comforted and encouraged us. We weren't Vito's target customers at all, not cool young people, but desperate old people - but we were given a great welcome. Thanks! At this moment in our lives, you did exactly the right thing!

Pizza is really great. And the idea is also very good. However!! Every damn time the employees at the counter manage to overbake the pizza completely unnecessarily when heating it up. The pizza is like rusks afterwards. That is not how it works. Above all, it works in Gundeli.

If you're looking for a great pizza place in Basel, look no furter than this! Vito has some of the best pizzas in town (at least for a system gastronomy), for a very fair price. The main attraction in my opinion is not the fresh -and sometimes unusual- selection of (healthy) toppings but the PIZZA DOUGH! It is to die for, really. It doesn't matter if you stay in or take the food with you, the friendly staff and superb food will make you come back again and again and again and... Update: 10.07.23 Food and service got worse & worse over time. Gave them a few shots, but Vito can't live up to it's old standard anymore. Just sad.

The employees are friendly, unfortunately they are not that attentive and sometimes unkempt! The seating inside and outside is generally very cramped. In addition, the interior is quite warm and stuffy. Even though you have placed an order with salad, the salad is forgotten, speaking of salad, a small bowl costs 8 Fr. The bowl is filled unequally so that an uneven filling in several is extremely noticeable! The price for this should be a maximum of 3.25 francs and no higher. The pizza dough and the toppings are super fresh, airy, fluffy and taste great as well as being light without being heavy on the stomach! Thank you for the top pizza.

Where can you get the best pizza in Basel? That's right, here in Vito and in the Artigiano Café Pizzeria Napoletana Basel. In my opinion, both restaurants share 1st place for the best pizzeria! Highly recommended 👍

This is a pizza kiosk! The taste is okay, but the people who work there are not! No conversation, really. No room for questions, they won't see me again.

Contrary to the number of positive reviews, I wasn’t blown away by the pizzas at this place. They weren’t served hot and was quite “bready “. I liked the fresh salad and the ginger drink though. Overall it was adequate

After the small piece of pizza, which is always measured according to your mood, you leave hungry. 10 CHF for a mini piece, that's not possible. You have to determine a size that is always the same, that can't be that difficult!!!! The picture you see, these should both be small pieces...

The food was very good. The service specialist was very, very friendly (every time). I love vito and am happy to pay.

Great food and vist environment, but there wait time are outrages giving an estimate only to be told to wait a bit more until you have been waiting for an hour.

I am big fan of VITO but my today's experience in VITO Aeschen is making me give this low rating. First of all, the guy (wearing a white shirt with a quote "I am doing my best") did not have patience to take my order. He bahaved rude and I literally had to remind him to heat my pizza, put cheese on top and give spicy oil! On top of everything he was extremely arrogant. Please don't let one employee take down your image. (Attaching rechnung from my order to authenticate my review)

Pizzeria for all ages. Very special facility. Possibly taken over commercial space. Super fine pizza to take away or eat there and salad. Centrally located on Aeschenplatz.

The pizzas and antipasti are great as always and the team seems well coordinated and friendly. The restaurant was always very well attended. The street food decoration is cool and fits.

Actually delicious but more than 10% more expensive in 2023. It's a shame. The coffee is recommended, as is pizza and salad. Often there is no seat and unfortunately self-service to the table.

Great pizza at great prices. Only annoying thing is for a business they don’t seem want to take customers money. I wanted to buy 3 whole pizzas to take away at 4pm and told me it wouldn’t be possible until 5pm. A little bit of flexibility would enable even greater revenue generation

Went in late without any expectations on a suggestion from the Movenpick front desk. Lovely welcome (when staff are this welcoming within 30 mins of their closing time I am impressed and happy). The pizza I chose was delicious and was washed down with some nice Appenzel beer. I don't frequent Basel much but I shall remember this place. Not far from main station.

We ordered the 1 meter pizza with beef sausage which was good but there was really too little meat for the price. We had to wait more than 20 minutes for a waiter to come and take our order upon request. Then we had to ask for our drinks after 40 minutes of waiting, and to top it all off, they got the wrong pizza and had to make it again for us. Either waiting more than 1 hour to be able to eat a pizza is pathetic.

Too overrated. They don't have Coca Cola. The pizza doesn't taste that good, you only pay for the name "Vito".

Great pizzas! VITO pizzas are always 1m in length, but smaller and bigger slices are, of course, available. The menu features a wide range of pizza options, including vegetarian and vegan options. Their branding is excellent as you’ll get quite stylish black take-out boxes. Unfortunately, the pizzas have gotten more expensive over the past year.

The pizzas were delicious, the service was very fast. The employees were very sweet, what more could you ask for?

A place I visited several times while in Basel You can order it in 3-teilig, so it's good for sharing, and it tastes even better when you eat it with the oil hot sauce available in the store!

By far the best pizza in town - simple as that! Weiter so!
