It must be admitted that hotels in Switzerland do not always provide comfort for the stated prices. But Hotel Restaurant Weisses Kreuz does not join their ranks. In our case, all the indicators of the Hotel were able to satisfy our wishes and desires 100%. In addition to highly organized services, you will be able to enjoy beautiful, unique views of nature. The hotel is also located in a very convenient location for visitors by Train and Car. We can definitely recommend to visitors to these areas of Switzerland!!! On September 22nd, 2023 we visited the Brienz Gourmet Tour. When we arrived in Brienz we went to the Weisses Kreuz for coffee because we had to wait for our train to Interlaken. The waitress was more than unfriendly. She came to the table and didn't even say hello, let alone politely ask what we wanted. I looked at her as if I had received a slap in the face... so she didn't feel like serving guests. When she served us the drinks, we wanted to pay, the answer was: “when I have served”. So we're not that stupid. You could have come up with that yourself. One could have politely said, I'll come straight away. But not so unfriendly! On the bill it said: “Verena served you” if anyone is interested. Shortly afterwards, a cook came to our table and complained to us because my father smoked a cigar, that the guests in the restaurant were not feeling well and that they were moving into the kitchen. That's not true, the smoke was wafting upwards... do we now have to ban smoking on the terrace? We won't be coming back, and we're only Swiss...

Today my girlfriend and I had the misfortune of sitting on the terrace of this hotel restaurant and waiting in vain to be served. Even though we were sitting pretty centrally, we weren't noticed. Two couples who came after us were served. There were still empty glasses on our table that weren't even cleaned up. After several attempts to make eye contact with Keller (a pretty disrespectful boy with blonde hair), my friend tried to reach him with a hand signal. He then told my girlfriend “one moment” in a reprimanding and harsh tone. I didn't really notice it at the beginning otherwise my reaction would have been different than just leaving the restaurant. A waitress who looked quite overwhelmed came by briefly to pick up drinks, but we also wanted the menu. She brought the menu but left the glasses behind. Usually a table needs to be cleaned when new guests arrive. At some point we wanted to order, but unfortunately it never came. We sat at a dirty table for 20-25 minutes. Therefore no star for service because we simply didn't see any service. It was very clear to us from the start that the waiter didn't want to serve us.

We can only rate the restaurant! But everything was really great there! The service was very nice and the food was great! Highly recommended!

We stayed 3 nights. Hotel very well located. Right opposite train, bus and boat. Quiet hotel. Clean and spacious rooms (we had 2 communicating rooms.) Very good breakfast on the terrace. I explain my 3 stars in general below. Otherwise I would have given 4 stars The only problem is that the staff is neither smiling nor friendly. It's a shame. We rather have the feeling of disturbing when we ask something. No one takes you into account, you are passed over like nothing. Too bad because your region is magnificent, and your establishment is very well located and could be much more pleasant. However, the contact with the hotel manager is great. Kind, courteous.

How hotel complies. The rooms are small, they do not have air conditioning, but those with a window to the lake have a great view, unbeatable. Apart from everything, the Rothorn Train station is a few meters away. As a restaurant it has a limited menu, the seasoning is not the best, but still the terrace set up for diners, due to the view and the proximity of the Rothorn, gives it a lot of life. The service is friendly, with more vocation than in other places I have visited.

Had lunch in this place on a raining day. Food was ok, nothing special but service was awful. A waiter said something I didn’t hear clearly so I asked him to repeat and he went super slow and loud even next table was looking at him surprised. Very unprofessional behavior

I had to cancel the booking due to an accident. After the cancellation over the phone, the hotel staff said that the room would be released again and a reduced fee would be charged depending on the booking. After that, no one reported again. After I asked again, the hotel showed no goodwill at all and ultimately did not refund a cent. I am very disappointed with this!

You can eat very well here. Have been a guest at the Weisses Kreuz X times. Friendly service, top price/performance. Gladly again. But I've never stayed overnight there.

One night in transit. Despite the high book-out rate, we still got a room. The location, almost directly on the lake, is very nice. The hotel couldn't do anything about the noisy roommate, but they still apologized with a small contribution. Thank you for that.

Essen, annual gathering of 1943 from Brienz, 25 people. Very little or nothing worked, although everything was discussed in detail and personally with the landlord. Missing promised menu, the breaded schnitzels are the same as breadcrumb schnitzels. 2 received their food after everyone had already finished. Conclusion: never again!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! The staff is more focused on the restaurant, rather than the hotel. They made me wait just for the check-in because the staff was busy with the restaurant. There is no AC in the room, need to open the window instead. The breakfast buffet is having very limited options, on top of that there is no toaster and flies are sitting on the food, so no hygiene. The 2 old ladies are very rude, especially the one having curly hair. Overall very bad experience, not worthy of money.

Absolutely horrible, there is a lot of dirt outside, there is a plague of flies in the restaurant. There are so many flies at dinner and when eating in the morning, I don't want to know what it looks like in the kitchen. We had wonderful food all over Switzerland and great service. The Fondue was acrid-we make better Fondue in Hawaii! Also the Schnitzel had a thick greasy aftertaste. The waitress was very slow and not very kind. Don’t waste your time or money eating here.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night. The restaurant staff is not friendly at all. The lady with the curly hair works in the restaurant, she doesn't behave well at all, she didn't take our evening order. And when we protested, he said that was your order. There was a bad salad in my meal, when we protested he removed the bad salad from the food and said that you still have to pay the money. His behavior was not respectful at all. Someone who has a job as a waiter has to talk well with people and be friendly so that customers always go there to eat, and the elevator comes to the second floor. For the third floor we have to use stairs. The breakfast was also very poor. They don't have anything interesting for breakfast at all.

I visited the restaurant, And I had the worst experience. Service lady was very rude with me and s shout on me when I asked for extra spoon and fork. Really i recommend against, its worthless to loss your mood during the whole day for that.

Great, quick service. The apple strudel and macchiato were exactly what I needed while waiting for the train.

Vegans avoid. I saw another review saying it was good for vegan, only 1 item available vegan on the lunch menu, a small plate of boiled bland vegetable for 26cht, ridiculous. For comparison, only 22cht for the pulled pork burger. Also got to pay another 3.50cht to share this with my still hungry wife.

I was in a hotel on the other side of the lake, the lady reserved a table for me there. Ate a cheese fondue/split. Nickel! 40 francs for 3 fendant and an original fondue. Flawless

It was nice. There was a disposable coffee pot and water on the 2nd floor, so it was nice to eat and have coffee. Make the bed soft and clean as well. I stayed for consecutive nights, and on the second day, the water drained well when I showered. I think it's okay here. I want to stay here again. The bathroom was very clean. The photo was taken after using it once or twice.

The food looked really delicious on the plate. Unfortunately it was served cold. The service staff is friendly, but not very motivated. This could also be due to the fact that the restaurant was hardly occupied when we visited in the off-season. The ambience is a matter of taste. If you like it rustic, this is the place for you.

It was a little expensive, but the cheese pork cutlet was perfect for Korean tastes. The vegetables were cooked just right so it was perfect. The affogato is delicious haha. I was thinking about having another drink haha.

Stayed at this hotel again in time for the Christmas market. Small but nice room facing the back yard - in the summer the Rothornbahn runs past. Clear buffet in the morning - I realized that I haven't drunk grapefruit juice in ages. Delicious! would love to come back!

We took a lunch break on the way from Zug to Interlaken because there was convenient space for our motorhome. Nice large terrace with sun and shade. Very friendly staff accepted our wishes. My burger tasted just as good as my wife's hash browns with bacon and asparagus. The restaurant/hotel is definitely recommended

A week ago I stayed at the Hotel Weisses Kreuz in Brienz for two nights. I booked a room with a lake view on the street side. The room was nicely decorated and clean. You have everything you need, the only thing missing is a small refrigerator. The beautiful view can be enjoyed perfectly from the balcony. As already described in other reviews, street noise was a problem at night with the windows open. At breakfast you have a large selection of drinks, cheese, muesli and croissants or rolls. What I found really nice was that the rolls had a Swiss cross made of biscuit on them. Dinner in the restaurant was very tasty (I've never had such good spaetzli). The price-performance ratio is right. The plates were very nicely prepared. Many thanks to the staff for the friendly and quick service.

My sister and I stayed at Studio Rothorn. The room is obviously newly renovated and very nice, as is the bathroom. Unfortunately, sleeping with the window open is practically impossible because the main road runs right in front of the building. Air conditioning might be required here so that the room could be cooled down a bit. We booked the room with breakfast. We have never experienced such unfriendly service. The young lady (brown hair, ponytail) who was responsible for the service didn't say a word to my friendly 'good morning', and she also responded to my thanks for revealing it with my word. My sister ordered coffee from her, but it wasn't 'delivered'. She wasn't told that you have to get it yourself and get it from the machine yourself. Regarding the unfriendliness of the staff, we have now found various corresponding reviews and also the management's comment that these allegations are taken very seriously. However, as we have experienced first-hand, nothing seems to be happening other than lip service. Fortunately, there are other accommodations in Brienz. Unfortunately, we can only give 1 star here, even though we were actually happy with the room, apart from the street noise.

We were there for dinner and absolutely loved it. A rustic old room, without a lot of frills and with a view of the lake. The selection on the menu is large, and there is also a good selection for vegetarians. There were 6 of us there and everyone ate something different and everyone enjoyed it very much. The staff is very friendly. Our dog was also allowed to come in. I can recommend the restaurant without reservation!

The rooms are okay but: - either you ask one with lake view with the traffic noise from the main steet - or you try to be smart and ask for one at the back, but there's the train with a diesel engine and the hotel's loading platform, which starts making noise at 6:30. The beds are good but the doors and windows are old and noisy (no padding to shut them silently). The breakfast is rather cheap, all industrial, but there's at least a station to cook the eggs. I would have given 3 stars but the small and dark haired young lady at the reception came across as antipathetic, not smiling and seemingly annoyed by our presence. The reservation process was not simple. We called directly to let the hotel have higher revenue by cutting booking.com. They asked us for a credit card number and a signature. We were on a bike trip with no printer so we just sent a credit card and they kept asking for a scan of a signed paper. We had to call to explain the situation to get them accept to book us without the bureaucratic procedure, despite having a credit card number!

Comment regarding the restaurant: Waitress not welcoming. We took 2 cordon bleu, mine was not cooked inside. I informed the waitress who sent her back to the kitchen. Not a gesture, not even a word of apology, they simply cut the places where the meat was not cooked and quickly reheated my cordon bleu before bringing it back to the table. Also, they charge 6 chf for the carafe of water even if you have had other paid drinks.

Good service, good food. The dried meat was missing from the sausage platter. There was a discount for that. The homemade burger was very tasty and highly recommended.
