I've been there several times on business and it would be nice... unfortunately currently closed because cashless and card terminals don't work. Writing to the room doesn't work either. Bar at reception is also closed... a bit difficult to understand.
One of the best coffees in Lugano!
Unfortunately no pastries available on Sunday morning.
A bit hidden as it is also used as a hotel reception.
Prices a little higher, but typical for Switzerland.
Despite promoting an award for sourdough (some years back) their bread is average at best.
Their service was rude. My brother, visiting from abroad, went in at 18:30 and asked whether the lonely-looking Laugenkranz was baked that day; the lady answered "What a stupid question", in front of other customers!!!
He turned and walked out and I would do the same. What arrogance, considering other bakeries offer 2nd chance bread.
Perhaps if their breads looked better.
You've lost a customer and I'll spread the word...
The self-service restaurant is directly connected to the museum and offers a fantastic view of the lake and the Alps.
The daily menus were okay. The starter salad was more of a string of vegetables, not a salad per se, but tasty. The pizza was okay, but they used canned mushrooms.
The staff at the checkout were visibly overwhelmed by the lunch rush, but the staff in the kitchen were very nice. Unfortunately, none of the staff spoke either of the other two national languages (Italian & German) or English so that communication would have been possible. I had to rely on other guests. So at least the restaurant terms should be known to the staff, especially since the restaurant is located next to a museum.
