The museum café is a charming place with very friendly staff and delicious meals (small meals). Very pleasant terrace.

I pass by the “vegetable garden” located outside every day. Children like to learn by watching.

From a legal point of view, Alimentarium, founded in 1980 by Nestlé SA and Nestlé Suisse SA, is a foundation managed by statutes and board of trustees, which is regulated by Articles 80 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code and is subject to the Federal Supervision of Foundations. As the world's first museum for food and nutrition, the Alimentarium has been exploring all facets of the topic from a universal and independent perspective for over 35 years. With its interdisciplinary, cultural-historical and nutritional science approach, the museum has established itself as a reference for nutritional issues - also thanks to its experimental and unconventional program.

Great family visit. Everything is very interactive with quite a few screens. Nice outdoor area, small shop and restaurant. My 5.5 year old children really enjoyed it but they still need their parents' help to understand everything.

A very relaxing and pleasant place.

Marc was extremely welcoming and dedicated during our visit. He took the time to carefully answer all of our questions. The place is sumptuous and incredibly well organized. We plan to return for sure.

Great place to discover lots of things

An interesting interactive museum. The exhibitions tell about food and the processes of its production and disposal. Full cycle. The screens tell stories in French, German and English, and the autoguide is in Russian. A very large selection of interactive games in the halls. Lots of videos and interesting exhibits. Educational for visitors with children and adults. Wonderful desserts in the cafe and a cozy atmosphere. Easy to find the museum. Opposite the entrance to Lake Geneva there is a sculpture in the form of a fork and a monument to Charlie Chaplin on the embankment. Have a nice time everyone.

Original museum, not the best. I find that there are a few too many screens and not enough objects.

Very beautiful and imposing building.

Informative museum with lots of points to test your senses. You can be active at many stations, and if you still watch the videos, you can easily be in the museum for 4-5 hours. It also has a small souvenir shop and a small cafe. Very successful museum for children of all ages.

No interest…much too expensive for what it is

Ideal for school runs. Various workshops included in the ticket, you just have to look carefully at the days and times. Near Vevey station, possibility of picnicking by the lake.

A place dedicated to food where you can hardly taste anything, smell anything, touch anything. Everything is centered on touch screens which explain to us the objects in the window. It's sad, lifeless and not playful. There is a games room but it was not working. The building is pretty and the most interesting part is the garden outside.

First museum in the world dedicated to food. Very dynamic and historical cultural visit with equally interesting interactions for adults and children alike... We were able to discover the many facets of food and sometimes even period utensils and appliances. From Europe to Africa via Asia...it's all there. At the end of the visit, we had a small workshop on chili with chef Ivan... Museum accessible to people with reduced mobility, visual or hearing impairment. We have been in Montreux for several years, we have always stopped near the big fork, but never in the museum. It was an excellent discovery. To do again.

Good thing, I was in the museum for probably 3 hours. Afterwards, some fine beer and soup in the café. However, two things bother me: the German texts are partly unfortunate, e.g. opening text "Nutrition is the only topic that affects all people." Yikes, the thing that concerns all humanity???? That just changes the meaning of the original text... Or egg white for egg white. As far as I know they only say it in Austria. And: for me, the view is far from being critical enough. We exploit people and the earth for our daily bread... The studios included in the ticket are real highlights. And the passage through the intestines!!! Thank you!

All the environments are perfect, it is impossible to describe, you have to go there to feel it.

Informative exhibition about food

Very unimpressed - I expected much more. Mostly games or wikipedia-like articles that you can read from a tablet. The history of believes about food and digestion was the only part I really liked - hence 2 stars, not 1

I didn't go into the museum, but I came across this beautiful building on my walk along the waterfront.

Everything has been replaced by touch screens, which work quite poorly or even break down. The fact that the alimentarium is stormed (first visit with 2 hours of waiting which made us give up, second visit during visits of many classes) does not help to enjoy the numerous films / screens since it you have to queue for each station and there are two headsets (often with a broken headset) per station. Beyond that, we find school information on nutrition. I found it not very suitable for children and I would have liked more work around tastes, smells... In short, the visit was not a success for us unfortunately. Note that there are workshops that look interesting, but we were unable to try them due to lack of space.

The Food Museum is right next to the fork (actually the fork is a work created on the anniversary of this museum). Inside, knowledge about food in many dimensions is gathered. A bit of everything without much of a guideline. Nestle, the harvest, the machines… not too expensive but nothing special

It would take all day to see and hear everything on every screen. Nobody wants to be in the museum for that long. Lots of digital, few exhibits. A demonstration about the colors in food would certainly have been exciting, but it failed because of the language. Without German or English explanations it quickly became very boring. As global as Nestlé is, it should be. The visit to the Alementarium was ok, but I wouldn't go there again.

It's not bad, but there are too many screens with too much text, the games are too hard to play. We did enjoy the (temporary) chocolate show where we got to taste very unusual stuff.

Very nice, great for children and adults

Disappointed. The perfect example of a race to the bottom, because the target audience is young. The museum rooms have no coherence or purpose. The ultra-present device which conveys 80% of the information are large tablets with short and uninteresting videos. Therefore, there is no advantage to being in a museum. There are more interesting and in-depth videos on the same subjects on the internet. It particularly saddens me as the theme of the museum offers so many interesting topics and perspectives and the setting is magnificent.

Great experience Exhibition “Eating – The essence of life” invites visitors to question food. Different rooms allow discovery, experimentation and the deepening of knowledge. Rooms on Food, Society, The Body... You can also attend interesting workshops. The museum is also at the foot of the lake, a feast for the eyes...

Informative, great museum about food - location right on the lake

Visited the Vevey Alimentarium today. Unfortunately, this type of museum is not one of my favorites. The idea with the audio guide isn't bad, but it becomes rather tedious over time. I wouldn't visit this museum again, unlike Vevey, which I liked as a small town. The beautiful weather certainly contributed to this. CONCLUSION: Vevey is worth a visit, but I can do without the museum.

The permanent exhibition is not worth it. Even if we learn things, it's almost just touch screens with text and/or videos. I can get the same information at home on the internet. Some screens did not work or worked poorly. The coffee is nice and the staff are nice.

It had been a long time since I had been there and I was still very surprised by all these electronic installations and no longer tactile or olfactory or even sensory. The visit nevertheless remains very attractive and interesting. The children loved it!

The welcome at the Café was very warm, the atmosphere pleasant, but the prices are exorbitant for quality poor in flavor. Whether it was the vegetable soup or the salad or the butter, was it really butter in the delicacies, it lacked taste. Damage ! For a food museum.

I have been going to this establishment for more than 5 years, with my family but especially alone with my children since I am a stay-at-home mother. My husband has worked at Nestlé for over 15 years, so I have always been able to benefit from the 10% employee benefit, until now including direct family. Of course, each time I presented a photo of his employee card, as I do at the Nestleshop. Today I was served in the cafeteria by some nice girls (I have always considered the service very pleasant) and when I presented them with my husband's card, another lady, named Nadine Nevarez, rudely interposed to refuse this discount. She also told me, in her constant petty tone, absolutely unacceptable towards a customer, that she did not believe that I would have been able to benefit from this discount before, and that if that was the case, it would go to against the rules of the establishment. I can perfectly understand that there is now this change, which can explain the closure of the restaurant, and other possible transformations (I have also wondered for some time why the children's games had almost all disappeared). What I cannot accept and I must reproach you today is the attitude of this woman, towards a customer, of the Nestlé family (and honestly towards anyone!!). There are decent and diplomatic ways of saying things Madam, and I hope that you will read this message wherever it is sent to you so that you change your attitude in the future towards your customers who, like anyone, deserve respect. Such behavior tarnishes the image of this establishment which is a real shame since we usually feel well received.

Nestle museum, interesting photo machine inside

To enjoy a nice visit that is not too boring, I recommend this establishment. Enough to enrich yourself with lots of great discoveries.

It's rubbish financed by a food industry giant, nothing interesting to learn there. I like the architecture of the building otherwise

Adults cost 13 francs, there is a cozy cafe, and the desk staff are friendly! I'm very interested in food, so it took me a long time to read and look at the articles and photos! There is a game room on the second floor, which I think would be great for kids to play!!!

It is very beautiful here, especially on a sunny day! There is a place to have a delicious breakfast and take a leisurely stroll. Nearby there is a children's playground, cafes, restaurants, and many world-class attractions!

A historical building of old Nestle company headquarter office with beautiful lake side view at Vevey, the museum is very interactive by using many multimedia elements to explain how the world food production and supply network working. The old board room presents the history of Nestle company.

The Alimentarium Museum is a space where is time flies unnoticed and you can get interesting and useful facts about the history of food, dishes, etiquette rules, healthy foods, digestion processes and how much you need to exercise to burn calories, etc. What is great that is a mix of audio-gide excursions, computer games and interactive zones of many tests. The gaming zone bring joy to everyone from children to adults. Catchable experiments will not leave indifferent even the most inveterate sceptic. I'm very thankful from all Ukrainian people for the possibility to visit this place for free and special thanks for administrator's attentiveness and patience. Really and strictly recommend to visit.

This place exceeded all our expectations. We knew this is a very good museum, but we did not know was going to be so fun for all of us, our kids loved every corner of the Alimentarium. This is a real interactive and educational experience.

Great place for a peaceful lunch in the middle of the garden facing the lake. the dishes and desserts are excellent. I'm less of a fan of the museum because it's too Nestlé oriented.

I came here a couple of months ago! It’s really fun 🤩! There are many interactive sections in the museum. It’s great for kids and families, the outside garden is relaxing, they grow all of their produce there. (Please don’t serve yourself tho) staff at the alimentarium use those vegetables in their kitchen! You can buy a nice healthy meal in their kitchen. I totally recommend this spot

Very fun, especially with children

Fun for kids but boring for adults. Nothing new nothing interesting but screens with videos

The food museum is located near the Lake of Geneva; that is why it has a beautiful view. The museum itself is a good scientific museum with lots of information about food history, devices and even internal digestive and sensitive systems of human body. I think it is a good place for children (due to lots of interactive games related to food industry) and for adults it can be also an interesting place, if you are really into this kind of informative museums. We were there in a hot summer day and unfortunately inside the building was also very warm. I think the ticket is also too expensive. Keep in mind, if you don’t want to read all of the signs and information; you can finish it in about one hour. It has also a restaurant and a coffeeshop inside the museum; but I think they are very expensive too. Here also you can get student discount :) so don’t forget your student card. After visiting Chaplin’s world, this museum was not that attractive for me. (I visited both of them in one day)

An experience and questions about our food future. To have.

I was expecting something more interactive. Like for example, discovering taste, inviting the children to make a little pastry or something like that. There are only screens to tap (whereas usually, children are encouraged to do something other than stay in front of a screen) and utensils on display. It’s a shame, being a former baker and chocolatier myself, I expected better. We had more fun walking by the lake, that’s saying something.

Love this place. Looks imposing from the outside so you might not immediately wonder in, like me, I waited a year before I finally went in! But once you’re here, you’ll love the staff, the excellent coffee (of course!) and the ambiance. One of my favourite places to visit in Vevey. Here’s another thing I love, check out the toilets - both men and women have baby changing rooms. That’s cool! Well done, Nestle 👍🏻🙏❤️

Really not worth the visit, I heard that they revamped it to make it more interactive but half of the equipment wasn't working. It was quite boring for me and my friend so I cannot imagine if you were to bring kids there!! I don't really understand how Nestlé could be able to teach us how to eat properly.

The place covers all the aspects the food is intertwined with our life. There are a lot of reading materials, which makes it somewhat hard, especially for kids. I suspect guided tours/audio guides solve this problem. And the restaurant is also great! )

Interesting and nice. However, much less fun and attractive (especially for children) than my last visit in 2010-11. Lots of descriptions and explanations to read, quite a few videos too. Several screens or headsets out of service. Dark and confined interior therefore noisy as soon as there are 2-3 children who get bored quickly. Almost no place to sit during the tour but there are folding seats available upstairs after the lockers; Be careful: they blend in well with the decor 😅

Very interesting, even super interesting but a headache, I think it should be done over two days. Take the time to read and understand carefully. That's the advice I could give. Because I'm going back.

Very cordial welcome from the staff, thank you! The restaurant has become a self-service restaurant... The dish of the day was disappointing: dry squid bathed in tomato sauce, lukewarm vegetables despite the cover plates. We went to have dessert and coffee in a tea room further away...

Good English explanations but overall I found the museum quite confusing. There were too many interactive exhibits which present too much information, I felt like I was reading a Wikipedia page. Content is interesting enough but presentation should be simplified

Well organized museum in a very beautiful setting. Very welcoming and stylish staff. The restaurant is like the museum: of an excellent standard. The dishes are well presented. The prices are really affordable and excellent. The dining room is comfortable and bright. So, enjoy your meal...

The meals are succulent with taste and a presentation bordering on gastronomy. It's very beautiful in addition to being very good! Local products such as Léman fries are highlighted.... The team is adorable, always attentive and passionate about top quality cuisine and service. I highly recommend because the terrace overlooks the lake and the famous fork next to the Chaplin statue. What happiness!

Lots of activities, presentations and explanatory videos. Lots to read, listen to and explain to children

It has very interactive features such as games, tablets and maps that portray what's being explained or are the source of information themselves. There also are sections of physical engaging such as a bicycle that demonstrates how calories are burnt or a huge intestinal track model through which you can pass. Due to these features, the museum becomes very kid friendly and fun to visit. Still, contentwise I wasn't satisfacted at all since it is pretty vague focusing too much on irrelevant or very basic concepts while neglecting others that would justify the name "Alimentarium". Maybe the museum achieved its goals yet I was expecting something totally different, more focused on nutrition and food itself not as a social element (the museum portays it as such).

We return again and again, because the exhibition subjects are presented in an exemplary manner and many of them are interactive. Currently veganism, vegetarianism. Very beautiful building, beautiful cafeteria and very good restaurant. Possibility of following workshops around food and therefore cooking. Located on the immediate edge of the lake offering an exceptional panorama. COVID measures applied seriously.

Very great museum and the reception who made us aware of discounts (Raiffeisen card). There is a lot of information and, above all, interaction throughout the museum, screens everywhere with additional information and games on the relevant topic. I have never seen such a combination of exhibits and on-screen information. Definitely visit if you are interested in food.

A very wonderful place to visit with the family to understand with Interactive tools the foods history/origin and the relationship between the human body and the food. Good restautant with local tipical food inside.

Extraordinary interactive food museum. Intended for children but all ages enjoy learning about food, its production and processing. The trip to Vevey is worth it, but I don't know how you can miss the Alimentarium. Good cafeteria and restaurant that works for lunch. The city center is beautiful. I hope many people have the opportunity to visit it.

I'm giving it two stars because it's free with the Raiffeisen card but otherwise it's really not at all interesting, I had been there when I was a teenager and I really liked it, I remembered smelling food to know the origins but not to have to read tons of texts. Don't go there with children who can only read computers with texts to read... really disappointed, we should have paid, frankly I would have been really disgusted. Screens everywhere, everywhere, everywhere but even no video or very little.

Privileged location right in front of the lake! Friendly service and welcoming space. Personally, I liked the story and references to Nestlé, but overall I had higher expectations. Maybe aimed at a younger audience! They have workshops and some activities for children!

Very interestingly designed Alimentarium exhibition with educational animations about food, people and bodies. Friendly service and a fine little restaurant is also on site. The beautiful wooden VR room is a masterpiece of the carpenter's guild.

Nice and very practical for access with children only small remark is that the activities are always the same

Interesting, unusual and beautiful))

A variety of aquariums with thousands of liters of water for various types of fish, including baby sharks, swordfish etc. There are also continent-oriented Africa, South America etc. lizards, crocodiles, snakes. A wealth of impressions is guaranteed.

I no longer found the same emotions in this museum as during my previous visits. Too many screens and terminals to the detriment of real objects remove the user-friendly aspect in favor of a sanitized character. Generations X, Y and Z will find what they are looking for there. For the others......

Visited twice: 8 years ago as a couple and this weekend with 3 children. The first floor has lots of screens with presentations to listen to or games to play. The top floor of the museum is more "sensory" (exercise bikes to show how long you have to pedal to spend the equivalent of a sugar, a machine where you can smell different fruity smells...). It's better with children who can read.
