The menu I ordered through Uber Eats was very good. I feel like the portion size has reduced a lot compared to before. Delivered warm. My wish for Indian spiciness is usually implemented. Relatively expensive at over 30 francs per dish.

Amazing food and great service. The chef and owners checked on us frequently and even provided desserts on the house. All their recommendations were spot on. Highly recommend this restaurant. The most authentic Indian food in the Basel Region.

I have been a regular client for the past 5 years and I consider the Bayleaf as my little island to relax and get an extraordinary treatment for my senses! Not only is the food spectacular and the Chef always ready for a surprise dish, no the team in Bayleaf want to make your feel comfortable and at home and this is exactly what it is - my second home. The food is cooked with a lot of love and to the highest quality, you get flavours that I did not know that existed. Try a nice Guiness with the food or a good glas of the Indian red wine and you will be surprised how well it tastes. For all those that do not live within 200m from the restaurant there is great home delivery service too - so no excuses - try it!

The prices in this place are ridiculous (yes, but local standards - about 25-40% more than already high Basel prices), while the food is nothing special (just ok). The portions are regular size, but nothing is under 30 CHF and most dishes are above 40 CHF + maximal markup on drinks. It was quite busy, so one can only wonder....

Ordered via Uber Eats and waited 2 hours! Called the restaurant and the staff simply lied to you! Then I called the Uber driver angrily and he said he had been standing at the restaurant for over an hour and had to wait. He could give me the chef to answer the phone. The cook said the food was now ready (the gentleman on the phone said that Uner had picked up the food over an hour ago! .... Then called the restaurant again and was told a new tall tale! Subterranean service for above-ground prices!!! 0% and not recommended!!!! And that even though the food wasn't even that bad!!!! Never again !

One of the best and most delicious food in Basel. The taste is just awesome. This place is always packed so one can tell the turnover is excellent and the food is always fresh. The staff is very respectful and kind and the service is fast.

Food was good, I ordered aloo gobi and dal tarka. It was delicious and typical North Indian taste. We didn't take just have but also feel it. Mr. Sagar was so polite to serve us and ensure to get this food like taking in India.

Unbelievably slow service, focused more on take away than actual customers

Was having a biz trip to Basel and being recommended to try this restaurant. Glad that I tried bcs THEY HAVE THE BEST BUTTER CHICKEN EVER!!! The butter naan is soft and such a great pair for the butter chicken. Didn’t manage to visit and eat at the restaurant but definitely will if I ever come back to Basel again.

Indian Dinner in Basel! Spicy Kadhai Paneer tasted great. They provided tadka daal compliments of the chef and pulao! Tandoori Roti was well done. Service was great from all the staff especially Sagar!

I often have been ordering mutton briyani from them and recently they have been adding crazy levels of spice to it. My stomach has been upset because of this. I don’t understand how locals will be able to take this level of spice as even as an Indian I am not able to.

The food is good, the restaurant is usually very full, so I recommend booking a table. It is also very loud, so that sometimes you can no longer understand the person sitting next to you or your own words. Therefore not suitable for a cozy dinner.

We live in Basel and are real Indian food fanatics to the point we eat Indian in every city we go to to ‘try the local cuisine’ :) Bayleaf is our regular local ‘go to’ Indian restaurant and sets such high standards that even world renowned curry places like Brick lane in London or curry mile in Manchester are often disappointing. The price is a little more premium than alternative restaurants in Basel but the quality of the food is always immense and every single dish (tried almost all by now) is of real stand out quality. The venue itself is rather lovely and pretty luxurious, with stone/marble floor and lovely decor and styling. The service is excellent too though don’t expect your meal to be ready very quickly, the dishes are made fresh and food this good takes time to prepare.

Authentic Indian flavours and top-notch service. Jackfruit dish was a good surprise. :) They went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was memorable. the cherry on top was the Hindi songs in the background that added to the wonderful atmosphere. Surely a hidden gem for the Indian cuisine in Switzerland.

We celebrated our son's birthday at Bayleaf Restaurant, where the food was absolutely amazing. The arrangements and support provided were also top-notch, contributing to a fantastic experience for everyone. 11 franks for a bottle of water is aggressively insulting when your dishes are only double that. I feel violated. Portions are disproportionate between each other. One person may be satisfied and the next left hungry arbitrarily.

Good quality indian food, the portions were generous. Price is a bit higher than other Indian restaurant in Basel, quality of chicken is good we enjoy the curry sauces (have to extra order the sauces that comes with the Chicken not included in the menu) we love spicy so its not a problem. Naan Garlic and Coconut were served hot, the lemon rice is tasty. Fast and attentive service. Restaurant located near city center, all in all we enjoy the experience

Fairly classic Indian restaurant with a level of spiciness suited to the palates of the locals. The food is excellent even if very expensive, the service is friendly even if a little slow, and the place is nice even if a little old-fashioned. The only flaw bordering on delirium, which is why it loses a star, is a liter of water for ELEVEN FRANCS. Good desserts.

The best Indian food in Basel so far

Made a reservation using the online form on restaurant's website and received a confirmation to my email. However, upon arrival we were told that the kitchen is closed , that "most people make reservations over the phone" and that I "should have called". So after a very half-hearted "sorry" from the hostess we were forced to look for another place to eat. Very disappointing experience.

Visited this Indian restaurant in Basel on our way to Zurich for dinner. It seems like Basel has a lot of Indian restaurants so it was difficult to pick one but we gave this a try. We had the Butter Chicken with aloo paratha and cheese (it was actually paneer) naan and Chole Bhatura (you have to order Channa Masala and Bhatura separately) and Gajar Halwa for dessert which was served with a nut flavor ice cream. Overall I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. The butter chicken was delicious and had perfect flavors and seasoning. The aloo paratha and paneer naan were great, hot, well cooked and tasty. But the Channa Masala didn’t have any salt (not less salt but it was actually missing or at least thats what it tasted like), taste was fine but really bland. Far away from when you are expecting punjabi chole with your bhaturas. Bhaturas were served patted down. If you are a big bloated popping bhatura fan, you will be disappointed. Other than this, the restaurant’s ambience was nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They did serve papadam with various chutneys which was great! If coming by car, there is no parking next to the restaurant as its on a main street with trams etc. You will have to try your luck in the nearby streets with street parking.

Great Indian food, friendly team

High-quality, authentic food and a lovely staff experience. So good that we went twice in our 4-night stay! The paneer butter masala and tadka dal were especially good – don't be afraid to ask for it a little spicy if you want, as the restaurant caters to the milder European palate.

Very nice service, super delicious food.

The last few times we've been there the chicken has been tough. When they're busy we usually have to get up to ask if we can order. The rice and bread portions are smaller than some other places.There seems now to be a problem with filtration our clothes stank of Indian cooking oil for a long time after. The flavours are good but it will be a while before we go back.

Very nice restaurant with a good ambiance and a great service by the waiters. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. On the other hand this restaurant is not cheap. But we received with our meal also a plate of white rice and a palak dish that were not charged. The naans were very well made and also the palak paneer we enjoyed very much. We were lesser enthusiastic about the other dish made with the jack fruit. Overall we will be happy to come back to enjoy a meal at this restaurant

Very good Indian food, as a take-away offer during the pandemic. In my opinion, the higher prices are put into perspective by the large portions.

Due to the Corona situation we have already ordered twice. The food is good, large portions and with the second delivery we were given a free side dish. The only drawback is the prices. The delivery costs are super cheap.

What a disappointment... Ok good, quite expensive, and absurdly slow! We wait at least 1 hour to get our plate... 1 Hour!! When we complained the waiter told us that all the other tables waited the same time (not sure what he meant? Look how other people are OK with our bad service?). At some point when it became beyond acceptable (9:45 pm you start losing even appetite...) we understood what the problem was: while we waited we saw 7 big deliveries coming out of the kitchen. If the owner of this place reads my comment here is my msg: it does not make sense to serve a full restaurant and be willing to make extra cash with delivery using a kitchen that is not ready to serve that... This is not the good way of doing buisness. At the end, we spent an unpleasant night and his/her place, and spent 136 CHF for 3, I will not say (s)he well-deserved that money.

Delicious food...no words to express....can still feel the taste when I think of what I ate there that night....it was messimerizingly tasty...
