Brasserie Louis in Zürich

I love this restaurant, mussels and onion soup were delicious. Services were friendly. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for Paris vibes you must come to Brasserie Louis. Feels like being in a different city. Can only reccomend the food quality and excellent kind service.

"Classy" French brasserie. Very nice place, well decorated. Menu is not big but classical French cuisine, such as Moule, entrecôte café de Paris, tartare. Nice service. Pomme allumettes (french fries) so nice. Highly recommended Good quality/price

No idea why I haven't eaten here before. I just had the lunch menu (Salmon on leek-risotto) and it was excellent. Saw that they have Tartare as well...Next time. I'm certain to return

The food was good enough, but they charge you CHF 7 for a 33cl bottled Cola (or any other softdrink) which is basically criminal. Tap water is CHF 5.50. Zurich is expensive, but I've never seen a comparable price anywhere else here. Complete mystery to me.

Great French restaurant in the heart of Zurich’s old town.

As a french native, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a little piece of France here. The French specialties offered were perfectly executed, and I felt like i was back home for the duration of the meal. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine French culinary experience

My wife and I stepped in for a lunch here recently while touring old town and absolutely loved it. The ambiance, food, and service made us feel as if we were back in Paris. We had the French onion soup, large order of the escargot, mussels in white wine which come accompanied with fries, and a quiche. And we had a wonderful draft beer the server/manager recommended. I would recommend this place for any fan of French food but also for anyone that enjoys great tasting food at a reasonable price during a visit to Zurich.

Just had a wonderful experience with my wife. Very nice, professional host, good team, nice atmosphere. The food was excellent. Entrecôte and moules. Very much so. recommend. We will be back.

Amazing service & fantastic food!

France sends its regards. Very good food, moules selection highly recommended - top. But also the onion soup, tartare and entrecôte. A rather small menu but everything is very fine and authentically “France”. The wines in a small selection - very nice. The service was extremely competent and friendly. We always enjoy coming to Louis. The ambience makes you feel like you are in France.

Just spent company Christmas dinner and paid hefty bill today. We move upstairs -15quiet people- and we are told to leave by a distressed, hysterical waitress. I looked around puzzled as there are at least 10 empty seats. Whilst my team is outside I go back inside and politely ask for an explanation. The sweaty waiter yells at me saying ‘we know who you are’ ( really??did I even ask? ) and it’s ‘her’ decision. So. Not only is the waiter rude, and arrogant but also blames the waitress for our situation. We are now at the widder bar, treated like normal people, calmly waiting for our drink and nobody knows who we are. Avoid, there are better places in Zurich.

It was chilly and I searched on maps for French onion soup. The soup did not disappoint. Our bill was higher than expected for 2 soups + 2 waters (water bottles were expensive)

I generally hesitate to review when I’m not super happy. However, here I had mixed feelings. The food was really nice. Classical European, bistro cuisine. Well prepared and nice. The location is excellent and the ambience really nice. The service was good, up until the point where our waiter was unhappy with our tip. I understand that you may be disappointed with the tip given or not given (even in Switzerland), but leaving in a huff and not even dignifying a “good bye” with an answer leaves a bad after taste that makes me give a rather bad review. I simply feel that the last thing you need after a nice (not excellent) meal is to feel that you have to dodge angry looks when you leave.

We have been regular customers for 22 years. Unfortunately we found out today that the chicken breast Pepito was replaced with cheaper chicken thighs. We tried it anyway and threw everything in the trash. It was totally greasy and disgusting. We will no longer come and will no longer recommend it.

We arrived adhoc, told to sit at bar (fine by us), however seemed a local couple arrived with reservation for the wrong day and were then seated at table, strike 1. Ordered steak tartare Royal, and was supposed to come with truffle oil, instead they made a mistake and came with chili oil…strike 2 Highlighted this and no amendment was made to to the bill, strike 3. Sadly lovely staff and atmosphere spoiled by that, and we really really loved the vibe but given price and that multiple mistakes we can’t recommend.

The seafood pasta was delicious in the first bite, but then it started to feel too salty. All the side dishes in it were pickled, so it is recommended to use sparkling water to relieve the saltiness. Onion soup is also salty and has a strong taste. Attitude of the service staff: Don’t dare to accept the advice😮‍💨 Asking for a tip at the end of the checkout? unbelievable.

Visited the takeaway outlet twice in two days. Very good, and tasty burgers and fries. Price is good for Zurich standard.

There’s a takeaway shop next door to the main restaurant with amazing baguette sandwiches! Fresh, fast and delicious, I can strongly recommend the original. The guys don’t speak much English but get the job done well

I had a Pinot and some oysters, wanted something light. To be honest they were very sub par, not the freshest I’ve had. The gentleman serving me was friendly though

some of the worst service i’ve ever had, waited 25 mins for the worst drink i’ve ever tasted. french onion soup average, spaghetti provencale was straight up bad, vegetables tasted overly pickled and awful. my steak was (thank god) good. i’ve lived in switzerland for a year and have never wasted a $150 so poorly in my life. go somewhere else.

The food was good and traditional. The location is great. The service was excellent. The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. I was not too impressed with the food, but was goos in gemeral.

The only good thing about this restaurant is the view. Aside from that, the meal was the worst we ever had, the service was terrible and the waiter was despicable and very unprofessional. 1 star is way too much credit for this place. I recommend going there only if you want to think that McDonald's is the best place to eat.

The mussels were ok but not great, the sauce was quite watery and not as ‘dippable’ for the bread as others we’ve had. The quiche was very tasty, the salad with crispy perch bites was a bit bland and had a thick batter that just made it feel heavy. It’s a nice place to sit out but overall felt there were other options that would suit us better next time.

A place where we sat by chance and left pleasantly surprised. We have repeated. The fish soup and snails, very good. Relaxed atmosphere and very nice place.

This place was amazing, both young lady and man were pleasant and nice. Yesterday, we arrived around 9pm and were seated within minutes. (Family of 4) The waitress assisted us by answering questions and even translated the menu for us. We had the mariniere to share, this was amazing! Our main dishes were spaghetti palourde, Tina burger, zitronen ricotta ravioli and one other item. We didn’t order too many drinks just cokes.. Desserts were great! We had a vanilla ice cream that came with some fresh fruit and the chocolate mousse with pastry.. we shared so it was the right amount.

Their take away is the only place with affordable food in Zurich

I ate at the stand outside the restaurant that has take-out food. The beef baguette (das original) is prepared on the spot and tastes very good. If you are passing through and want to eat something quick and cheap, this place is a very good option.

The lunch set is quite good. The ginger soup is delicate and not spicy. I am impressed by the very mild taste. The steak and grilled fish are also delicious and the portions are sufficient. A waiter who looked Asian forced me to order a drink at first. I told him I wanted tap water, but the waiter asked me to look at the menu again and then left. At the end of the check, he asked me if I wanted to give some tap water. Tip, this is the first time I have been asked this question by a restaurant waiter during my 30-day trip to Europe.

I was allowed to eat the "louis" moule frites, what a highlight on the palate 10 points. Attentive, courteous and skilful service you can feel the passion 10 points. Ambience 10 points is the Dörfli of Zurich 😉 Thank you again for the wonderful experience with you.

Louis Takeaway: ..I am at a loss for words! We ordered a baguette and were able to watch everything being prepared. My goodness!!! Employee wears gloves, but touches everything with them, everything. Put the frozen fries into the deep fryer with your hands, then collect them with the same gloves, then the raw chicken and shortly afterwards the beef steak...always with the same gloves. Also the tongs for the grill, my God, how many things have been grabbed with them... Sorry, but I haven't seen such a disgusting sight of a kitchen in a long time. We then canceled our order.

Small tables so we didn‘t have enough space. Food was alright but the bread was from the supermarket. For those prices you should expect the food to be better. Great service though,

Fresh food, very rich flavors, abundant dishes, excellent service

We were there with a few people from work. Everything was beautifully decorated and we received a friendly welcome. The service was professional and worked quickly. After we ordered, the food was served promptly. The grilled goat cheese was really, really good! A balanced mix of goat cheese, honey and lettuce, although the salad dressing could have been a little more present. The portion was more than generous for a starter. The main course consisted of a veal cordon bleu with fries. I think I can confidently say that this cordon bleu was one of my best. A great combination of cheese and meat. The fries were on point! Because of the portion sizes, I decided not to have dessert. Overall, just the Cordon Bleu would have been enough for me. The location itself was nice and I felt comfortable, although I found the chairs a little uncomfortable (the shape of the backrest and not upholstered). There is a well-deserved 5 stars here.

Right in the heart of Niederdörfli, a beautiful place with a great terrace where you can sit even in the rain because there is a spacious awning. Service is very friendly and accommodating. We always like to come for mussels, oysters or an entrecôte and of course a nice glass of champagne. There is always something to see right on the pedestrian zone and the atmosphere invites you to linger. After dinner we always like to go to the Tina Bar for a drink and a cigar. Every Zurich resident must know this! We'd love to come back!

Food was fine, place was empty two hours before closing.

Were there last night: super friendly service, cool staff, super good food and great ambience in the heart of Zurich's old town! A must for anyone who can't decide where they want to go. It is worth it!

The hint that we only wanted dessert was ignored at the entrance. When we sat at the table and received the menu, we politely pointed out the misunderstanding to the lady (at reception?!). Within seconds you could tell she was annoyed and the cutlery and cards were ripped out of our hands. It was also obvious that the lady complained to the waiter about it. The mousse was good, but I regret that we didn't just leave the restaurant at that moment.

The charming French restaurant is located in Niederdorf - an excellent location!! TOP! The brasserie is a great place for lovers of seafood, oysters and the like, where you can also eat traditional dishes, fantastically prepared. We got to try the much sought after entrecôte and it was delicious! • We also really enjoyed the tarte tartin! The staff was very professional and accommodating <3

Beautiful dishes, good ingredients, everything was perfect. You can sit wonderfully comfortably with a view of the hustle and bustle in Niederdorf. The service was absolutely excellent. Even a few small special requests were met with a friendly smile and we would be happy to come back.

Spaghetti was of high quality, along with the vegetables in it. Great service!

Absolutely the best place in Zurich where to eat mussels. Whether façon du chef ou marinière their mussels are always very fresh! Also their tarte tatin is amazing. The restaurant is very French and the personal lovely. Crowded on the weekends so be sure to reserve a table.

No one working there is French and the brasserie vibe just isn't there. Sevice is efficient. Food is ok.

For our son's 9th birthday, 5 of us went to the Brasserie Louis for Moule a discretion on Monday, he ate 2 pots and was happy. The atmosphere was very pleasant and cozy, we were served by two gentlemen who were very friendly and courteous, and everything was really FUN. Our dishes: cordon bleu, tartare and entrecote, as well as the Tina burger were excellent. Come back soon and with pleasure!

We had a very nice Monday evening in the Brasserie Louis. Our son turned 9 and asked for Moules et Frites, which were served à discretion on Monday. The service was extremely courteous and the restaurant was busy for a Monday. The other menus were Tartare Café de Paris, Cordonbleu and the Tina Burger. All highly recommended. Again any time.

For the prices charged, I expect a higher quality of ingredients and more careful preparation of the dishes. The service was initially friendly and sometimes attentive. But saying cheeky things to the guest when you don't tip is not acceptable. The ambience and furnishings were otherwise okay

Best lobster chowder in town! Wonderful creamy lobster bisque that I like to order again and again. The bouillabaisse is also excellent. Tartar gratinated with Café de Paris, a dream. Friendly, organized service. We always enjoy coming to Brasserie Louis.

We had the great pleasure of celebrating my 60th birthday with seven people for lunch on December 24th. It was just wonderful. My entrecôte Café de Paris was excellent and my guests were also extremely impressed by all the delicacies. I was also able to try their fine oysters for the first time. The service was extremely nice, friendly and very attentive. The ambient setting couldn't have been better. An extraordinarily successful event. Thank you

Good food and well located. Too bad the waiter insisted on telling us that the service was not included which was not indicated anywhere on the menu. I checked when leaving. This is the only place, during our 10 days in Switzerland, where we had this attitude from a waiter. We left him a significant amount which obviously did not satisfy him. In other restaurants, we were entitled to thanks.
