This is not a Cafeteria, it's a restaurant and they look very much down on you if you only want to have a coffee. Unpolite people.

Generous, honest and tasty cuisine! Period decoration, nothing extraordinary in that regard but the setting in the heart of François makes up for it. Friendly service, I recommend it!

Disrespectful service (a blonde lady of a certain age) not a smile, rude, throws the napkin at my phone while clearing the plate at the end of the meal, tries to rip me off on a quantity of wine requested. I strongly advise against it.

An institution, if you want something classic, like a fondue.

Traditional Vaudois restaurant, both in the menu and in the layout. We came across an unfriendly waitress, too bad. The dishes served arrive quickly. We would advise not to rush into the starters, because the main dishes such as black pudding (excellent), papet (also excellent) etc. are very generous. This restaurant is not missing much to become THE “Vaudois tradition” place in Lausanne. Nothing to do with the restaurant, but we should hunt down the TikTok or Instagram idiots who take photos of themselves and the dishes! It's unbearable.

Very nice half and half fondue (there are other possible choices)

It's a very traditional local restaurant in the center of Lausanne - unchanged since my mom went there as a student and probably unchanged since many decades before. Everything wooden which gives a warm feeling, especially when going for a fondue in winter. Traditional food from the area, such as fondue. Can get busy, but not rowdy - just a nice crowd.

Very good food but absolutely catastrophic service. Table reserved several days in advance for 7 p.m. Everyone is on time for 7 p.m., we are warned that the table is reserved for 9 p.m.... Basically you have to hurry. Order placed at 7:15 p.m., we are served after 8 p.m., i.e. +1 wait for 4 fondues... So obviously when we finish eating at 8:30 p.m. and we ask for dessert and we're reminded that we don't have time because the table is taken at 9 p.m. that's bad. We commented that if they would have been quicker, we were told "come next time after the holidays". We walk on the head So 5/5 for the food which was very good 1/5 for service

A large brasserie as we like. I had a very good half/half cheese fondue there, although the menu offers many other brasserie dishes. Large and often full, so it's best to book and it's a bit noisy. I recommend it.

End of year meal at the end of the course during the Christmas market. Very good service and in a good mood despite the crowds. The cheese fondue menu (dried meat starter, cheese fondue and double cream meringue dessert) is a treat. Regional wines at a fair price. Don't forget to reserve your table, it's safer.

Very pleasant service, exceptional fondue, I recommend

A reference for having a pleasant time: the specialties are very well served. The teams are efficient and very pleasant. Only one downside: it's really too cold. Our table was close to the window and we had to keep our jackets on. Such a place should be better isolated!!!! We would have probably stayed longer and would certainly have wanted to eat other things. I'll come back, but not when it's cold.

The food tastes exactly as if you would buy the cheapest Migros has to offer. The service was bad; we waited 45 minutes to receive the main dish. Definitely don't consider going here for a christmas eve meal.

I considered Café Rommand to be a safe bet. Maybe I was unlucky but the last visit left something to be desired. The fondue had a tendency to separate, the waiter pushed the fondue forks from the other table into my back (even if he apologized) I can understand the error but the conjunction of quality and this incident left me with a problem. mixed taste...

The Papet Vaudois was really very good and very plentiful. On the other hand, the person who served us was not very friendly. We asked for a separate bill after paying, but she clearly told us that was not possible…. Other than that it was very good.

The food was delicious. But the service is of mediocre quality, a lady who has probably forgotten her smile and good manners in the kitchen! The culinary experience is spoiled by the human experience!

The Romand café is normally a warm service and perfectly mastered Vaudois dishes served with a smile, but this Friday evening, February 17, not a hint of sympathy from the lady, who did not deign to apologize for bringing us a crust and a cold cheese rösti in rubber mode, and served us with unpleasant things... what did we do to deserve this? My request to reheat the dish was received coldly and even on return there were no bubbles on my cheese. As for my partner, she didn’t dare to ask. There weren't many people there though... maybe some problems finding staff, in any case it feels good here and it's a shame!

CATASTROPHIC!!! We went on Saturday February 4, 2023 at noon to the Café Romand with the intention of eating there. Average attendance. Once seated we had to wait 15 minutes to receive the restaurant menu. 10 minutes later we were able to order drinks and food. 1 hour later we still had not received our dishes. Before us the ballet of two waiters completely underwater, customers' hands rising all over the establishment, stress, discontent at all the tables... in short, a fiasco. Without news of our dishes, in desperation, we went to the bar to pay (for the drinks) and left the restaurant at 1:20 p.m.... without having eaten there. One of the overwhelmed servers blamed the kitchen. In our opinion, it is above all a question of extremely poor management by the management of the establishment. By quickly chatting with the neighboring tables around us, the comments gave the following impression: "It was better before....". Keep it up and with a little luck a fast food restaurant will occupy the place before long.

A huge disappointment! Following the instructions on their website, I called on December 22 in the afternoon to make a reservation for January 2 at 7 p.m. for 6 people. What was our surprise to find the door closed on January 2 even though the person on the phone told me that the restaurant was open and took my phone number. As an error can happen, I contacted the Café Romand via their form, no response or apology to date. Sad birthday evening for me... until the manager of the Palace brasserie welcomed us! Café Romand is a very popular brasserie in Lausanne and, above all, a cult place for Lausanne residents. The place has hardly changed over the years: a real brasserie. It would be nice if the welcome and the service were improved, it is not a question of numbers but more joviality and sympathy towards customers would be good. Naturally, guests and regulars expect the house's classics and they are not disappointed. The papet is excellent, the cabbage sausage is remarkable. The sauerkraut is on point. And I'm not talking about the rest. The wines are always Vaudois and very good. So, for the service, do better: a smile and joviality are key ingredients in catering. A word to the wise!

Always excellent in terms of food for example today Tuesday p'at du jour pot au feu 👍🏻 but very variable in terms of welcome and service. Today, we had to wait 35 minutes before being served with an unfriendly waiter who was very convinced of his right towards customers, in other words very unpleasant, it's a shame 😌so I recommend it but it's a lottery on the service… good luck 😉…!!!!

Another place that has become very mediocre...what a disappointment

The beef steak (a point) is NOT recommended: it’s dry, hard, with a piece of fact that I couldn’t chew even with my 27-year-old teeth. And the service is terrible at the rush hour: the waiter seemed deaf in the chaotic environment and, for the reason God knows, always intended to grab my card and pay… Their machine for payment was with proportional inertia.

Poor service; not enough servers for a Saturday evening, unpleasant server. I asked for potatoes with the fondue, they were brought to me half-cooked.

One of my go tos in Lausanne, rustic but professional bistro, fondue, sauerkraut. Traditional, Served quickly. Very large room which is not visible from the outside but where you can breathe well.

Not recommended. We came in as a tour group. They seated us 9 pax to 3 tables and squeezed all of us to a corner with hardly any space to eat while the rest of the restaurant was almost empty. Locals were seated 2 pax to 2 tables. Terrible experience, food was so-so but everything else was sub standard. And to top it off (or bottom it out), the server was quite rude.

Food is not really good but if you are an Asian tour group, they will seat 9 people using 3 tables when the restaurant is not even full.

This restaurant was empty when our group tour when in for dinner. But somehow, they seat 8 or 9 of us Malaysians in 3 tables, wheras the locals can use 4 seats for 2 pax. Steak was tough, salad was not fresh. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I took the dish as usual unfortunately very disappointed the roesti salmon reheated in the oven Aves pdt barely cooked burnt underneath announces dill sauce, it was rather a colored yellow sauce which stained the napkin Indian curry which yellows the teeth well. I asked the waiter if I could make a constructive comment as indicated on the card to speak directly in order to find a solution.... The condition of the dish was noted nothing in return I paid the bill with a little of disgust... On the other hand, service and kindness from the impeccable server

Arriving at midday without a reservation, we were seated without much hassle. The service and the place are rustic, “old Switzerland” atmosphere. The downside: the high prices, which do not represent the quality of the food.

THE emblematic restaurant of Lausanne. We have been going there for 30 years, still as authentic. Traditional dishes from the French-speaking region. The fondue there is just delicious.

One of us being a regular client booked a table for the second service at 8:30 p.m. for 6. A table for only 4 guys was waiting for us, despite some customers were leaving the first service. People at their tables were squeezed like canned sardines. I made a sharp comment as the owner, as she insisted to seat here, but obviously that we would be too tight. The Asian manager offered even worse tables and refused to serve me because I was complaining. Having traveled to over 60 countries, I have never seen such contempt and disrespect for clients! Unacceptable!

Preamble : - Ultra-unpleasant service - Fairly high price (especially wines which are of average quality) - Food quality just passable (but cold dishes) - We're on top of each other and it's noisy - Not very inclusive menu (vegetarians, vegans and intolerants, go your way). The best: the authentic clientele, the history of the establishment —> that’s not saying much. First time at the Romand café that we knew by reputation. The first waitress who welcomed us was quite efficient despite having placed us at a rather strange table (there were 2 tables of 2 which were free and we were placed on a table of 6). Lack of courage, later in the evening a group of 5 had to share the table with us... we were checked twice for the health pass and then... nothing for a good 25 minutes. Another waitress came to take our order quite quickly and unfriendly (wine and dish at the same time). She seemed stressed, which is understandable given the crowds there were (see Supra). Wine service (very expensive for what it was) in a rather clumsy and abrupt manner (but the waitress still took the time to let us taste the wine). Another waiter came to bring us - or rather toss us - some bread. Once again, we felt the great stress of the fact that it was packed (4 servers for 150 people). It was also very noisy. The waitress also admitted to us that it was a very difficult evening in terms of the amount of work. Then we waited at least 30-40 minutes to receive our molds. I asked the waiter to take away the bread but he muttered some incomprehensible words to me without taking them. Well... so far, nothing worth the rating of 1 anyway... We're getting to the heart of the matter. The dish was lukewarm and the fries cold. My mussels were just passable but my friend's were absolutely undercooked (none were open!). We kindly and understandingly asked for a little more cooking. The waitress apparently took it very badly, thinking that we were being overzealous or whatever. She tore off the mussels without saying a single word. We didn't see them again until I finished mine (and I took as long as I could). Mine were already cold after 5 minutes anyway. When it arrived (by the waiter this time), he also didn't say a word to us. Nothing abnormal about him because that was already the case from the start. Except it also looked a lot less comfortable than it had an hour ago. In short, my girlfriend's mussels are much better at least! It was exactly the same as before, but well cooked and hot. It took a very long time to get rid of it, pay, etc. The waiters, and in particular the famous waitress, did not say a single word to us. She didn't look at us (she turned her head while we paid), tossed us the bill. Brief ! Incomprehensible behavior. All for a hefty addition given the quality of the dishes. She left without even saying goodbye and just a slight “thank you” which my girlfriend apparently heard; but not me. Honor is almost safe; we will say that we are more like 1.5 stars.

One of the worst restaurant experiences of our lives. A welcome that cannot even be described as such because you are not even greeted. In addition, no health pass is controlled in this establishment which can accommodate more than 150 people... We were seated at a table still having the services/napkins of former customers. We wait in vain to be cleared... 10 minutes later, the person in charge of the tables, unfriendly and incompetent, tells us that we need to change tables and go to a table for 2 people even though there are 4 of us. Dissatisfied, this person asked us to leave the restaurant. This establishment is a real misery.
