Le Contretemps in Lac Léman (VD)

Just one word, “perfect”! From start to finish the service is impeccable. The dishes are delicious and hearty and the wine selection goes perfectly with the dish. I highly recommend.

It's the best restaurant in Montreux, I would even say the Riviera. A jewel at the port of Territet. The Contretemps team is just incredible, the manager, the servers, the kitchen team. The welcome is more than top notch. I go there in all seasons, it's fabulous in summer and winter. Thank you again for your smiles, your delicious dishes and your welcome.

Great little place. We were there for lunch. One waitress/bartender - impeccable service. The dishes seem to be ordinary, but everything is in an interesting interpretation; the chef periodically comes to the hall. Good selection of wine. The interior may seem rustic, but it has style.

Top service, very good cuisine which is even suitable for vegans, gluten-free. We love !

Everything is perfect. The food is delicious, the dishes are served with a lovely presentation and the staff is welcoming and friendly. Little extra during sunny days: the beautiful terrace overlooking the lake. We have been going there for a long time and we will continue.

Friendly welcome and super efficient service, absolutely delicious hunting plate (venison) and widely served on the terrace in the autumn sun, we were delighted with our lunch, we had a great time. A stop not to be missed, it's true it's a little expensive but what good food! We'll come back, I promise.

Sublime evening in this restaurant without a false note! Everything is great; a very friendly and warm welcome, super good and very well presented (hunting) dishes, careful and fast service, a magnificent terrace (under the chestnut tree with a magnificent lake view)...we even received blankets to enjoy it in the evening. A visit from the chef at the end of the meal, in short, I recommend this place! My only wish, one or two more dishes (excluding hunting) on ​​the menu to have more choice :-)

Beautiful aspect if outside in warm weather. Limited but adequate menu with perch a must have. Lucky to get a seat without a reservation, but we went early. As ever in Switzerland, be prepared to fork out.

Beautiful terrace. Unfortunately the dish was disappointing. Tasteless perch fillets, no seasoning, no tartar sauce, no sauce at all. Farmed perch fillets. You don't expect that when you're a few meters from the lake. Too expensive for what it is.

Restaurant located by the lake, with a large and very cute furnished terrace. The dishes are all very good, especially the tuna tataki as a starter or the perch as a main course. The chef's dessert creations are original and very pleasant (we had the flowering). And the service is great. We were there for a birthday and the whole team came to wish it. Thanks, we’ll come back!

For a summer meal, when I went there, it is a magnificent terrace on the lake, as well as a beautiful digestive walk possible. The restaurant offers a nice sample of fish from the lake, but not only that! The food is very good and the service is competent and friendly, thank you.

Likely the best food on the Montreux promenade. Could take a while depending on the timing. Cocktails are on the watery side, prefer plain wine if you can, it's pretty good.

The food was good, but 39.- for a beef tartare I find it a little excessive. On the other hand, we were treated to catastrophic service. When they took the dishes away from us, they never came to ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee, we waited 30 minutes and finally asked for the bill. They didn't even come with the bill for the bill, he just told us: so that's 95.-, without knowing if what we were going to pay was fair. When it was time to pay, we wanted to do half and half, the waiter told us to do the calculation ourselves, he could see that it bothered him that we paid separately. Shocked by the service we received, we still tipped and he didn't even thank us or smile. He even told my mom that she was deaf, that's a really inappropriate comment and not respectful. I will never return to a place where my mother is not respected and where inappropriate comments are made.

The staff was not friendly and felt they are annoyed with the guests. Moreover they don’t speak English (or don’t want to). The view is great, we had a snack and drinks, it was good.

Had a lovely lunch at Le Contretemps the other day. We shared the tuna tataki as an appetizer, and the fish was cooked wonderfully. The catch of the day tasted fresh and delicious, but the poke bowl was a little bit of a miss for me (although the strawberries and mango were a game changer). The dessert was a must eat. Overall, it was a great meal with an incredible view!

We had an excellent time for my children's birthday, the welcome was superb, the food was excellent and the setting was magnificent.

Great terrace.. on the other hand not very pleasant waiter insisting on the order yet Monday and few people... and when paying asked to pay and showed cash and as there were 2 of us and Amie wanted to pay by card and we were entitled to one remark... you know how many steps I take during the day... on the other hand a very friendly waitress.

Lovely spot for dinner by the lake. Try the gingerol spritz. All of our dishes (tartare, catch of the day, and summer gnocchi) were delicious.

Nice fish of the day , always difficult the communication but the food was excellent, prize little higher but that’s Switzerland 🤪, nice even tuna with passion fruit.

Recently I was in Montreux and accidentally found one very nice restaurant on the promenade , if you go towards the Chillon castle. In summer near the restaurant open a terrace. We went for dinner and did not expect that it would be a very good evening with memorable dishes from the chef. The dishes were beautifully presented. It was so delicious that I stopped talking while eating. My fish dish had a very tasty sauce. The components of the dishes are selected and combined with each other. This restaurant serves French cuisine. I won’t forget to mention the staff. Very friendly chef and waiter. Finally, the chef offered us an unusual dessert based on rhubarb. Large windows and a terrace overlooking the lake and wonderful sunsets. I will definitely come back here

Only the view counts. We sat outside. The view is nice. The service less so. After waiting ten minutes, we asked the restaurant if we could place an order. There was someone outside who would take the order (they said). After another few minutes we were finally able to place the order. But I know other restaurants that serve friendlier people

Cozy romantic bar for a quick snack before attending a show, with a beautiful view over Leman Lake. Multiple sitting choices: bar stools, restaurant chairs or comfy leather armchairs. It's a heated tent but better bring a warm coat. It can get a bit chilly... or you'll have to sit really close to your date. Cheers!

When I first realized we were getting there in the dark, so would not be able to appreciate the location and the view, I started to second-guess the choice to head to Montreux from Lausanne. BUT. As soon as we got there, the pretty room and the vibe it offered -- even empty, as it had just opened at 1900 -- were just right. Our waitress was warm and adorable, and as she explained the menu, we got so excited about what we were going to order. The food was delicious. We had each of the four entrees -- every one was delicious, beautifully presented, and unique. Both the pumpkin soup and the mushroom cappuccino were light and airy, yet full of flavor. For plats, we had two fish -- absolutely delicious! -- one "bad hunter's plate", as she described the meatless presentation, and one bowl of gnocchi with mushrooms. Everything was divine. We were too stuffed for dessert, sadly. As absolutely delicious as the food was, as inviting the room, and as pretty the view would have been in the daylight, the restaurant staff and our waitress made the evening. Her delight in explaining each item, her warm smile, and her perfect descriptions of the food made the evening one we will long remember.

Why does my read information not spread in the press?

I have to give one star, because this restaurant doesn't even deserve it. We thought we were making a great discovery, in fact the view of the lake is beautiful, but paying for two steaks total = 86 hp without counting wine and still water, to have a steak as hard as a shoe and overcooked on top of that, I think that it is expensive to pay and finds it dishonest. One thing is certain, the restaurant lives up to its name Le contretemps!
