The food is exceptional BUT BIG PROBLEM, the staff is very arrogant, you would say in Paris, disgusted that Moutarlier, a small Swiss chain has such arrogant staff as that.

The best patisserie in Lausanne by a very large margin. You won't find better croissants anywhere else in the city. Their pain au chocolat is also top notch.

The desserts, as usual, are excellent. The coffee service is very fast, the servers are attentive but don't have a smile. If you want to eat a dessert you have to serve it and bring it to your table to eat it, I find that a shame. At Moutarlier Villeneuve you are served coffee and dessert at the table.

Good pastries, special mention for the lemon tart. For the rest, it is correct without being exceptional. We appreciated that the seller fixed the pastries with schotch. Arrived at destination without incident.

No, but what a good joke. Thinking that they had done their job well by taping our pastries to the box so that they wouldn't move during the journey, I noticed when I arrived home that the waitress had put her big finger in my pastry, and of course , didn't change it for me. Really, being in the service, such behavior is unacceptable. You may be a good pastry shop but I would advise you to close your doors or hire competent people.

This is the 5th pain au chocolat in a row where the bars are sticking together instead of being parallel. Which means that half does not contain chocolate. Disappointing for 3.50.-

I have known this place since I was a child and I always have the same pleasure going there, even years later with my 4 year old nephew who made an impression with his big smile and received a chocolate lollipop ! Thank you very much for this welcome, your kindness and these magnificent pastries

Very disappointed by the welcome from a saleswoman who asked me not to wet the ground with my umbrella without even saying hello first. When I ask her where the umbrella stand is she tells me that there isn't one and that I can leave it in a corner on the floor. I can't comment on the quality of the pastries (excessively expensive) because this mediocre reception just made me want to leave the store! The window is beautiful, the place is “chic” and you are made to feel that the clientele must match the atmosphere.

I remember it was one of the most popular pastries…. I wouldn't come back again, except on the really well-placed terrace, they're lucky... because as far as service is concerned, the waiter is neither friendly nor smiling. He must have forgotten that it is with friendly waiters that we want to come back. And the room 🙄 cold and ugly, sorry but it feels like a canteen... with their price we expect more decorative and human warmth.

Buying an pomme tatin style birthday cake is honestly worth the price… It really wasn’t great. The cake was pretty but the taste was not there. Never again

Very poor service. We are barely spoken to, when ordering we are allowed a nod, rather than asking us what we want to consume, there is no exchange. On the other hand, the waiters seem to be having a lot of fun. Customers seem to be taken for interfering with having a good time. Given the prices we clearly expect more.

We were there twice during the holidays and each time it was worse than usual! The team was totally overwhelmed. It is urgent to do something or risk losing customers. Sandwiches and other pastries are okay. On the other hand, the service is deplorable. The waiter was unfriendly. Not a hello, not a word, not a smile. I have unfortunately seen this on several occasions.

The first time I went there I was with a friend and we both found that the waitresses were quite cold and curt towards us. At the time I didn't really take it into account... so I decided to go a second time (since I really liked the pastries), this time alone. Long story short, I was standing inside the shop, towards the window in front of the large compartment where the cakes were stored. Once I made my choice, I said hello and told a waitress what cake I wanted. The latter doesn't respond but still comes to position herself next to me, staring at me with a cold look...? See contemptuous..? So there was a silence, I felt quite embarrassed, even feeling like I was disturbing her. Since she stood silently still while staring at me, I figured I hadn't spoken loud enough so I repeated what I said. Another silence from him, with additional “disdainful look”. I don’t understand, I repeat again, she cuts me off abruptly: “Well, move away otherwise I can’t open the drawer! » How was I to know that the compartment opened with a built-in drawer underneath?! And why take it out on me... madame could have told me from the start that I had to put myself aside instead of settling down with all the contempt in the world. Or give me a sign? (Yes she was still, no body language telling me “push yourself etc…”) Anyway, this story dates from a long time ago, I wanted to leave my rating for a long time but for some unknown reason, the system couldn't send my rating. Definitely. So here I am finally able to put down my damn note because I want to. This waitress really disgusted me, even though I basically just wanted a cake. Incidentally, I took care to advise against this store to everyone around me, I hope to spare them an experience as unpleasant as mine.

Homemade hot chocolate is excellent! The coffee and vanilla éclairs too, a delight.

My young daughter asked me "why did the lady looked so annoyed when you asked if she speaks English?" 😒 that pretty much explains our experience when comes to service. Cakes are pretty and tasty. Prices are fair, between CHF6 to 7 per piece. We spent CHF20+ on cakes. For first timer and non French speaking visitors, it is pretty much a "self service" concept. Place your order with the servers in front, pay and bring your cakes to your table. A different server will ask for your choice of beverage once you are seated. You pay for this separately. Note: the beverage server was more pleasant than the earlier one.

Super good desserts. I recommend the "Feuilletine" made with: creamy milk chocolate, milk chocolate leaves, crispy praline, hazelnut and almond dacquoise I leave you with a photo of this dessert

Very good pastries, but one of the cashiers was very aggressive. I would have given it 1 star if it wasn't for the very good pastries. I regret having spent money here, a shame since the pastries are very good, but next time, I'll take my business somewhere else!

I wanted to buy a box of chocolates to take back to my family abroad. I stopped by Moutarlier because I had tasted some delicious chocolates from them. I asked the saleswoman for suggestions / her opinion on a few, she replied "they are all chocolates, we like it or we don't like it, but they are all the same". Well, for the price their chocolates must be extraordinary and I would like to have a saleswoman who doesn't care about her product, and who can advise me without seeming annoyed. I now go to JACOT for all chocolate purchases, with their salespeople who are kind, patient, and above all passionate about their chocolates. In addition, there are often discounts or promotions for members (free subscription). Bye bye Moutarlier!

I ask for a homemade hot chocolate: the waiter answers me in broken French, it is only served in winter (despite it being noted on the menu). Deplorable experience: I came to this bakery for the first time recently and I don't plan to return. I wanted to have a good time with friends for a special occasion, in the end I'm just disappointed... First contact with the staff: two ladies pulling funeral faces, who are completely disinterested in what they are doing and who make you feel like you are bothering. Arriving in the cafe area it's not really any better, a bitter waitress practically snatches the card from our hands when we tell her that we won't have anything to drink (at the same time 8 bucks for a bottle of water is complicated to spend more, especially since being a student I don't have an unlimited budget). We had bought bubble tea a little earlier, which we had left on the corner of the table to show that we were not drinking them... wasted effort, the waitress grabbed our heads and asked us to put them in our bags, something we can hardly do (it's like putting an open can in a bag). In the end we had to leave them on the floor and that still didn't calm down the waitress who regularly glared at us. I don't know if it's because we are students and they considered us not interesting customers but I really had the impression of being a nuisance and of not being in my place in this cafe . I have rarely seen such unfriendly staff... frankly I would be ashamed if I were the owner of this establishment. In short, run away, there's really nothing interesting here, especially if you're not ready to spend 300 bucks on cookies and drinks.

I bought a salmon dish for 12chf, it had a strong stale taste. I asked for this and the store manager who didn't bother to apologize or reimburse me. Worse, I asked her to taste it, she did it using my fork! And of course she told me it’s good! A manager who does not accept the opinions of her customers and cannot say we are sorry ma'am, I will pass your opinion on to my manager. Too bad I loved the brand, I have been buying my cakes and croissants from them for around 20 years but now I would never set foot in this store again. An unqualified manager and does not deserve her place!

Not terrible pastry by Swiss standards. High prices. But above all extremely unpleasant and rude waiter. If you are not able to stay there, there is no point in working for the public.

My favorite place in Lausanne for snack&coffee stop when I come to the city. Located in the heart of old town, near the city hall. Delicious food but last time the shop-assistant was unfriendly and harsh.

Tried it three times last year in their branch at lutry and Lausanne with different pastries and had to waste away the pastry. Not sure what has changed but now they offer low quality too sweet without texture pastry with a too high price, I hope they can get back to their old track… “With pastry taste offered at their place, you’d never be disappointed. Their pastry is quite fresh, but don’t make their pastry per day though. However, it means you can show up late and still get what you’d like. There are new types of pastry once in a while, but after dropping by their place a few times, it gets harder to try something that would surprise you by its taste or texture(variation in types is low). The chocolate they sell is also nice. Not amazing but definitely above average. Their service can improve. Waiting time for coffee is usually long and the quality of their drinks do not match that of their pastry quality. It’s usually too busy and at times they ask you to sit with strangers if you are alone. There is outside space is in the middle of side walk without distinct boundaries which makes it a bit uncomfortable at times. Overall, an excellent experience….”

Nice place, beautiful and tasty deserts, sandwiches but I was upset on Saturday, when I ordered pineapple fresh, with a mix of carrots and oranges, but the taste was completely carrot fresh with a small amount of orange, and the name on the check reminded me of pineapple, but according to the taste, it was not there :( It would be great if the names corresponded to reality and if this fruit ran out, then they warned, because I really wanted to enjoy pineapple fresh, and I drank carrot, and the receipt said pineapple cocktail.

I find that the quality of the products is decreasing. I take the example of pistachio millefeuille. In the first years we could clearly perceive the fruits and the taste of the pistachio, now it is nothing more than a compact and borderline sickening mass. There is no more pleasure in eating this. On February 18 afternoon I came in to order two Paris-Brest which looked delicious. The disastrous reception given to me by a “saleswoman” is a textbook case. Both contemptuous and not answering the questions asked, she is absolutely out of place in an establishment that wants to properly welcome its customers. It’s a shame because the pastries were really fine and tasty. In summary, very good cakes but a more than deplorable welcome.
