Shanghai in Luzern

The music was bad enough to make us have to leave. Unbearable.

We had dinner in Shanghai yesterday, unfortunately it took over an hour after ordering before we were allowed to eat... one meal arrived with a delay... then the next... very difficult... especially when you want to celebrate something with kids and nothing works as you wish. Prices are expensive and portions are small… Well thought out in the current times, gastronomy is not everywhere as it used to be! It would be nice as an apology...if you were offered something...that wasn't the case...all in one...expensive evening without feelings of happiness!

After 40 minutes of waiting for the food, I got up and went home. An impudence! Staff is so inattentive, disaster. You don't even ask if you want something to drink, etc. The employees speak not a word of German and were completely overwhelmed. Don't come anymore.

Wow this was so good. Really recommend. Had an amazing evening with my friends (14 people total). Their dog is also cute and likes to be petted

Unfortunately we waited more than 60 minutes for the food, there were a lot of guests and the staff was overwhelmed. Otherwise it was ok.

Great restaurant, great service and very fine food. I forgot something there and after consultation they sent it to me without much hesitation or in return. So super friendly and warm staff

We were there on New Year's Eve. The New Year's Eve menu was good but what was mentioned in the menu, ink fish and calamari, was not there. All in all it cost 90 CHF. There is a very nice aquarium.

Absolute disaster after I ordered food home and the receipt clearly said No Peanuts. (Due to allergies) The PhadThai was full of nuts and the fried noodles tasted like bad spaghetti. When I called afterwards to ask what the solution was, I was told that I should order a different dish next time and it was also made clear to me that it was our own fault. Absolute RUDE NEVER AGAIN!

Good food but we had to wait 1.25 hours for the starter...

When you walk in you notice how much effort has been put into the store. Everything is clean and tidy, You come in and are greeted and immediately seated at a table. The waiter gave us the menu straight away and gave us enough time. The order was accepted and the food came just in time, you still had time to have a conversation and you also had time to look at the beautiful aquarium. We ordered fried noodles with chicken. Delicious, the quality of the noodles was not comparable to the other noodles I have had so far, the meat was very tender and perfectly fried. The service was a 10/10 and you feel very welcome. I can only highly recommend eating there.

We waited 2 hours for the food…

Very cozy, beautifully decorated Asian restaurant...with very large saltwater aquariums full of beautiful fish. Very friendly, motivated staff that sometimes takes a little longer to come to the table when there is a lot of crowd. The food tasted very tasty and authentic, for people who are used to spicy food, the mention "spicy" in the menu is negligible, it could easily be spicier. All in all it was a great visit, we'll be back very soon!!

This is the only true Chinese restaurant between Vaduz in Liechtenstein and Lucerne. There isn't even one comparable in Zurich or Zug. That's why we drove straight through without stopping. It would be nice if there were more branches in the cities mentioned.

Although this place has a super cool fish tank and ambiance, the head staff, maybe manager, and head waitresses are not nice. The young staff are nicer. The good is not what I would expect for a $100+ dinner for two. The seasonings aren't good. There weren't many fresh vegetables in the vegetable noodles dishes. The noodles were stuck together and squishy in a fried noodle dish. The meat dish was just meh. Really a bummer pick.

Food was good, but putting fish in an obviously too small aquarium in the 23rd century is just stupid. The fish are showing behavioral signs and I'll never eat there again because of that. What a shame!

It's always nice to eat in Shanghai. The ambience, the quick service and the friendly staff keep me coming back to eat there. Alone, for business or with friends. Highly recommended :)

The location is the highlight, the food is ok… the service however is terrible. We went couple times because of the location but this was the last time. The owner who took our order was very rude, so we had a very unpleasant experience.

Super delicious food. Lots of choice on the menu! Nice big aquarium, you enjoy watching the fish. Some of the service was nice (1 woman), the others were very reserved/insecure and apparently didn't understand German well? It was very warm in the restaurant. We would be happy to come back despite the rather high prices. Maybe better in winter because you can only sit inside and it was very warm.

...when pork, beef and chicken taste the same and you can't tell or taste whether it's still good...!!! The vegetables...taste just like the rest.!!! (oh yeah, you have to look for it too!!!) It wasn't traditional either. The best is the duck. I don't want to go there anymore.

We had a delicious dinner in this stylish yet very traditional Chinese restaurant. The food was good and the portions big enough to also cater for another serving at home. Big highlight: the gigantic aquarium!

Food normal and after dinning, we left the restaurant but come back after 30 mins to ask to use the toilet, the male waiter who served us refused to let us use n purposely speak in German language rudely to chase us out but when he was serving us,he can speak English.

There are better restaurants. Pork sweet and sour not good. The other i.o.

Incredibly well decorated restaurant, with a huge saltwater aquarium. Nice personel. Delicious food. Unfortunately, portions have become smaller and prices higher over the years. Unfortunately the prices are too high in comparison, even if it tastes very tasty.

Our favorite Asian restaurant in Lucerne, even in entire Switzerland. Close to the center and the lake, parking house in the same building. Really great food, very nice environment with aquarium, very friendly staff. Already visited many times, also with families and small kids. Highly recommended.

I really don't think it's appropriate anymore to keep fish in saltwater aquariums in restaurants that are too small.

You always wait over 45 minutes for the food. The food was cold and not of good quality. Too many tables and too few staff results in poor quality. The staff was rude, didn't speak German and was unfriendly. I had nausea for several days after eating. avoid!

The service (I think one of them was the owner) was very, very unfriendly. I spontaneously and nicely asked if they had a place next to the aquarium. She didn't even look and said, annoyed, no, absolutely not possible. The tables were empty until we left the restaurant. The waitress seemed annoyed and kept running away. Then we only received half of the food we ordered. My friend had to come forward and ask several times. Then they didn't want to give us the side dish of natural rice even though we ordered it. By the time I received the rice, the sauce was already ready and cold. The food was excellent!! Can't be better!!! But the service was very, very bad and annoying. But the food was very expensive.

not good at all. as a person who lived in China for a few years, I can confirm that this restaurant is a fake Chinese restaurant, and all the food is Vietnam food, they even forgot to bring us the dishes we ordered, and to shrimps are HALF COOKED. DO NOT GO THERE.

The food was good. A bit overpriced. One of the waiters was a bit unfriendly.

The food was quite good. However, we were offered the first table right at the entrance. When I asked for a quieter table, the answer was there was no other. However, the restaurant was not very busy at the time. If you are asked whether the table is OK, then you should also offer alternatives. When I see that people get the better tables without a reservation, I find that very unfortunate and not very customer-friendly. Next time I'll eat somewhere else.

Super nice atmosphere, delicious food. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. We waited a long time for service and went half an hour without drinks. No joy in serving the guests, on the contrary, you have the feeling that you are bothering the staff if you want to order something else. Very unfortunate.

The food is good, the portions as well. The service is friendly, albeit it feels a little “hurried”. If you are sitting near the acquarium it is really nice but the ballroom kitchy and cold.

Wonderful place with great food and a beautifuly decorated restaurant. They had lots of options for all kinds of vegetarian options as well.

The food was very fine. Since it was delivered to the wrong table and sat there for a few minutes, it wasn't really warm anymore, which was a shame. The waiter apologized several times for this. We had a table in the far corner (there would have been other tables available). It was very loud, behind the wall there was some kind of pump or something that was whirring constantly, which made us have coffee and dessert somewhere else.

Half an hour until we got the card. Another 12 minutes to order. And then 48 minutes until the food comes! I think the map is much too big. Every other dish tastes the same. Crispy duck was really crispy! Because it was completely dried out. The gentleman upstairs has to serve 20 tables alone! Super performance. It's easy to forget a lot of things!! The food was really edible, sufficient and the price was average! Unfortunately, there was a beer on the bill that was ordered but never found its way to us! Def. Are 20 tables occupied two or three times in the evening too many for a man to serve and a woman to clear up!

Relatively large selection of Asian specialties from different countries. Large portions served on a good quality warming plate. The 6 starters all came individually and up to 15 minutes apart from each other. The staff is rushed and speaks very little German. All in all, as a guest you often have to wait for a long time. This doesn't make up for the otherwise great ambience with a large aquarium - that's why it was a mixed experience.

Were there on Friday evening. Restaurant was well attended. Waiters very prompt and friendly. We were able to order quickly and the food was served quickly. Which tasted great. 👍 will be back.

Nice staff, great ambience if you sit near the aquarium. When I eat, I have the feeling that everything tastes or looks similar, despite the variety of dishes. I also think the prices are sometimes very, very high. A tiny bowl of Tom Gha Kai soup for 12.50. That's a lot for quite a bit of soup, albeit fine.

There were five of us and we ordered 4 starters. The soup came immediately, the other two when the soup was ready and the fourth starter was completely forgotten. After reporting, it was served with the main course. The staff was completely overwhelmed by the many guests. We had 5 different service people at the table who served us. "Too many cooks spoil the broth"! It's a shame because the food was really good.

Four of my friends and I ordered together. Each person ordered a meal and noodles. And soup. The waiter checked our menu with us twice. We waited for an hour and a half for the food to come out. In the end, my fried rice never came, so I asked the waiter. She directly covered her head, which meant that she did not place an order for my fried rice. In the end, we just paid the bill and left without waiting for food. After almost two hours of waiting, the restaurant still has no signal. Asked for the Wi-Fi password and told me that the Wi-Fi would be weak upstairs. Service attitude is very poor.

Friendly staff, no long waiting times. Food was good and freshly made. The price is justified as the ambient and decor is classy and noble.

My girlfriend and I are very disappointed with what has become of the restaurant. The overall quality leaves a lot to be desired. Compared to other restaurants such as the Ratskeller in Schwyz, the Shanghai restaurant can no longer keep up. Five years ago the restaurant was still a hit in Lucerne and the surrounding area. Today it is no longer worth the trip there. The dim sum was dry, tiny and not tasty at all. The vegi roll first came with meat and the other one, which was vegi, looked huge but weakly filled. The Szechuan beef meat was gristly and chewed like chewing gum. Szechuan duck was very dry. The rice was good. I strongly think it was warmed from the day before. In my opinion, the medium spicy level was far too spicy for European eaters. I had to drink 3 Cola Zero with the main course because everything burned in my mouth. I'm not usually that sensitive. We then skipped dessert.
