Walter Buchmann «Binz» in Zürich

Good bakery where you can also have a coffee in the sun in the afternoon. Prices, as already noted in other reviews, ZH level and not cheap. But the quality is there and the staff is friendly. Also open on Sundays.

There is very good bread and flan here. Unfortunately, there are massively fewer patisserie today compared to before.

I was a regular client, mostly from TooGoodTooGo. I hate a food waste! Recently the personel changed and I don’t feel a nice vibe anymore. Tonight I was late for the TGTG package just 6 min because of the work. The personel wast still inside, new very young team, doing the cleaning after closing. They saw me trough the closed door, waving hands „it’s closed” but ignored me looking straight to my face then continued cleaning. I tried to show them a couple of times I have a package to pick up but they completely ignored me… then some other employee walked out though the same door right in front of me - not even asking what was going on… I know I was late, my fault! But they were still inside - it was only 6 min. They didn’t show any good will to pass me the package I paid for - and someone either took it for himself or he/she threw it away… Such a bad attitude! I’m so disappointed how they behaved! Lack of basic human understanding… Sorry but I don’t wanna be the client anymore. And what if someone lost a key inside? Then he would need to sleep on the street? They didn’t even ask what the problem was… Tragical manners!

I think the baked goods are great, as is the service. And the coffee is actually the best. Certainly not at the lower end of the spectrum in terms of price. But: recently the employees have to charge -.50 to halve a sandwich (at Zurich prices) - Bünzlitum taken to the extreme. The income from this hardly covers the negative effects on customers and staff, who are downright ashamed of having to implement this practice.

I was served very friendly and competently by Finn. I always enjoy coming back!

I've been here a few times now, the coffee is delicious and there are delicious baked goods, sandwiches and sweets. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The ambience is simple, relatively friendly but not particularly charming. Would still recommend it to everyone and will come again, thank you.

Unfortunately, everything has deteriorated a lot, the staff is no longer as knowledgeable as before and is often very unfriendly.

Excellent food (I love the Rye Sourdough bred and the carrot ginger soup), really nice interior design / architecture with the large windows and the colored tiles on the floor. And when you walk up to the customer toilet you go on a time travel back to the 50s or so. It’s very authentic and nice that it has not been modernized plain vanilla like. Also friendly service (most of the time)

I guess I need a break from Buchmann. I have been a Buchmann customer since the 90s. Back then it was still a real bakery with a visible bakery, not a coffee shop with a sales counter. In any case, the door was already open at 5:58 today and I wasn't allowed to wait inside despite the rain and cold. Officialdom!

Mostly very good. Good coffee and good pastries. But you have to be careful, for example today we got croissants that were too dark (they taste burnt)

The best bakery in Zurich. Especially the vegan donuts. I can't stop going. Update 2023: It's even better, they now have Stoll coffee and a selection of savory items. This cafe is perfect. 😍

Good bakery. Good sandwiches and cakes. Very good coffee, but the price of coffee suddenly went from 5fr to 6.20fr! It's no longer worth stopping.

It's an okish coffee place. Nothing special. And it doesn't have many tables, so be aware that maybe you'll not find space.

Nice little bakery with great sandwiches and a great chocolate cake. Regional products such as meat, cheese and milk are also top notch.

Cold service by the fat bird. You don’t greet customers looking like a bulldog chewing a wasp. Expensive, tasteless sandwiches and below average, ridiculously expensive coffee. Never again.

Best Chocolate croissants ever. And the staff are very efficient and kind. My whole lab loves their stuff. Definitely worth stopping by on your way to work!

Delicious delicious coffee here! Nice selection of bread and similar products. Amongst others, they also have a few innovative products. Staff is always friendly and I wish they could swap plastic covers for hot drinks with a more sustainable ones. Same goes for bread bags.

Friendly staff and nice looking pastries and breads available. My daughter loved her hot chocolate, but our coffees were average- not bad but not good.

Warm and personal. Small café with seating and large shop windows so you can watch what's going on outside. Good coffee, fine pastries. Not cheap, but corresponds to the quality. It's a pleasure. Sugar mice are very popular with my kids.

Great location and good food, but unfortunately like every cafe with a good location in Zurich, super unfriendly staff. After asking for an iced coffee with sugar, the barista said I could stir it in myself, although the sugar won't melt if you don't stir it into the espresso. She didn't want to listen to me and complained to the other barista that I didn't seem to have asked enough, even though that's the basic knowledge expected of a barista. It's nice that you take yourself so seriously, but in the end you should think about solutions in customer service and not educate the customer. Such moments definitely don't make your day.

Unfortunately, the service is once again unfriendly. Very small selection of bread on Sunday. The counter is so full that you can't see anything behind it. There really are better alternatives to get a nice bread or braid on Sunday.

The concept and layout of the store appeals to me. Coffee and brioche were delicious. 🥐🥨🥯☕ Parking available, entry and exit a bit tricky as there are all sorts of road users... 🚲🛴🛹🛵

Went to get something for lunch again today. A cheese and ham toast is probably new on offer. But a whopping 9 francs for two slices of bread with some cheese and ham is an exorbitant price and does not justify the expensive city of Zurich. That's almost an impertinence

Affordable cafeteria with a view to the rails. Best doughnuts and assorted sandwiches in the area.

I think the food itself is good. There is enough choice for vegans too, for example vegan donuts are very good. But unfortunately there is a waitress at this location who is very unfriendly (blond, tall, middle-aged) and liked to ignore me several times, which I noticed over time was intentional. I have to exclude the other employees from this. In fact, when I ordered a cappuccino to drink there, she put a coffee in my take-away cup. I pointed this out to her and she cheekily emptied the coffee into the cup. She then complained, which I found very unfriendly.

Sure, the price is Zurich standard. But the fact that while I'm outside enjoying my cappuccino with croissants, my sandwich is kept fresh in the fridge for the trip to the local mountains: priceless!

The food is always incredibly good! Unfortunately, compared to the Hubertus branch, the service always seems to be a bit asleep. It is e.g. It's not always clear why there are 4 people behind the counter but it still takes forever. However, it has improved a lot recently :D

The quality of the food/cakes in the Cafe is Great! I would've gave a 5 star review but unfortunately some of the Staff attitude is not particularly great (I encounter 3 so far who I would say had brilliant customer service) due to this is why I don't use the Cafe all the time :( :(

Very tasty and friendly service

Shameful service! The saleswoman was very rude, no smile, she was cold and not cordial. When it was time to pay, she snatched the card from my hands because the machine wasn't working. Unacceptable! I will not return to this store.

I can only agree with the previous speaker Stefan, the better the coffee, the better you drink it. :) I've been going to this branch a lot lately because they have really delicious donuts :) which are filled :) I also often skilfully reach for the refrigerator shelf, where I get the milk for my latte art :) Hirzel Höhn organic whole milk is the non plus ultra:) with around 5 cappuccinos a day, that's about one and two liters a week: ) I also think the look of the branch is great and I always look forward to visiting. The only thing that bothered me a bit today was that the cream patisserie in the cream slice had a very slightly watery consistency, as if there was too much cream in it. Hope next time is better :) But you can always optimize! Thank you :) and the team is always super friendly :) great

We got a brownie; a cake; and two loafs of bread. All superb.

Unfortunately the price/performance ratio is not right at all, way too overpriced even for Zurich.

Large selection, absolutely fresh and polite

Very good bakery, large selection of breads, pastries, cakes, sandwiches and tarts. The staff is welcoming, sometimes a little pushy. Possibility of ordering in advance on site or online.

The service was very friendly and the espresso was well above average. Excellent and many thanks to the staff.

The service at the counter was rather snippy, but still friendly. The prices are rather high but I think it's ok for the city of Zurich. The sandwiches are good and also have different vegetables in them, which I think is great.

Delicious cake, good portions and nice people

The place itself is really nicely done and would be cozy for drinking coffee if only it wasn't so cold in there. Most of the time people sit in there in jackets. Last week I checked how warm the heating was and Suprise Suprise the radiator was ice cold. When I reported this to the staff, they just said that the heating had been broken for six months; the owner would know that. It's a shame about the beautiful place, which I certainly won't visit again this winter.

Staff on the weekend is great, the ones during the week are ok. Good quality bread and coffee. Gets slow when there is a few people in the shop.

Since the bakery was converted to coffee, the range has been smaller. A pity.

We regularly buy bread from Buchmann (Binz). The absolute highlight is the VERZASCA bread, absolutely crispy and stays moist for a long time. Unfortunately, the quality of not all products is always top, for example the quality of the lye peaks varies, but that is bearable :-)

Friendly staff. Cool backery/coffe place just next to the Binz train station. Simply tasty!

I've been to this bakery several times now and from today on I won't be going anymore because the staff is simply unqualified and overwhelmed. The price for the goods is too expensive, I can get better from Migros and Coop.

A bakery where you can buy sweet bread and you can get something quick to eat. It has a place to sit and free WiFi

Went to this bakery today and got a salad with three falafel balls, some quinoa, carrots and sprouts, a sandwich with chopped egg (it was a bit bland) and a drink. I was quite shocked at the price I paid - around 27.00. For this money I can get a menu in a restaurant! Paid it and left. But it was the first and last time. For this quality I can definitely get better elsewhere.

I was waiting some time to come here, as I always want to come, but it was close to early or holidays, today finally I managed to enter and order something! Yeahhhhh What is my view: The quality is good, they have a big offer of home made products, including even confiture. I took a good late macchiato and a rustickokipferlli. As they are good they have a big demand specially in the morning, so there were at least 5 people in front of me and 4 other in my back and only one girl with short hair serving (with smile) all this people alone, till a guy arrived to help her...this did not give me a good feeling, maybe I’m in the wrong day with high expectations... who knows, I will try to come over again.

Just great! You're in the upper price segment here, but you also get excellent quality. I can recommend the small bread with figs to everyone, super delicious! You can tell how much love has been invested in the product. Keep it up!

What seems particularly interesting to me as a company is that you have fewer individual receipts and save 10%. This customer card is not available at “my” location in Binz, so you are put off. The email states that you can apply for this card at any other location, which is certainly true. OK, then I went home extra early and tried my luck in Seefeld. Unfortunately there was only one person in the store who didn't know how to issue such a card. So again nothing that I communicated via email. Now I wanted to try my luck at Shopville, but Ms. Hani from the back office beat me to it and offered to have the card delivered to me by post - great service, thank you very much! GENERAL INFORMATION FOR THOSE RESPONSIBLE If I didn't appreciate you, then I wouldn't have the time to write this feedback - and I would simply avoid your stores. But I think your appearance / shops etc. are very nice, the ordering option via the website is very well done - everything is great so far. The fact that ordering doesn't always work so well (order "forgotten" once, only about half was delivered once) - we can work on that. A tip from my side - equip your stores with Dalla Corte coffee machines. So I'm sure you could generate even more customers, because everyone would know that you can get not only good bread here, but also excellent coffee (which will hopefully become more and more important). There doesn't have to be a 2 or 3 group everywhere, in my opinion a Super MINI / MINI would be absolutely sufficient in small locations. What is important is the training of people working on the machines. With Rogalla AG as a partner, the issue of training is solved perfectly - you couldn't really wish for a better partner :-) CONCLUSION Maybe some of my feedback will reach you - I would be very happy about that.
