I was able to order the take away menu 15 minutes before pickup and it was ready on time. The food was very good and there were several sauces with it. Happy to order again!

We went for dinner very spontaneously on Friday February 9th. Very friendly reception. Also very attentive throughout the entire evening. You have the feeling that you are at Nonna's house and everyone is sitting and eating together. Burrata appetizer with date tomatoes is very aromatic and authentic. Tartar was cut by hand and not simply chopped in a "cutter". The main course, sea bass beautifully cooked. Very tender and not at all dry. A nice evening. We went home happy. Thanks. We will no longer visit the Ristorante Taverne Romana. Why? The good first: The food was good to very good. The wines consumed were also good. We really liked the atmosphere. Now the negative impressions: There was no menu (not even on the homepage). The service staff listed the dishes without any price information and you had to decide on something straight away. A comparative weighing was not possible. Apparently all the guests are very well-heeled, so it doesn't matter to them how much one dish or another costs. A well-filled wallet was also necessary when paying because the prices were above average, especially for the wines. The service staff was very friendly, but some of the technical expertise was lacking. Some examples: I ordered fish in two courses, but had the steak knife on the table until the end. Because we - like most of the guests - wanted to drive back, I asked about the open white and red wines. The staff couldn't answer both questions: "I have to go ask." Both times we didn't get an answer even after waiting 10 minutes and had to ask at the bar. After the main course, I asked the staff if it was possible to order a very small plate with a maximum of three small pieces of cheese. “Of course we’ll do it” was the answer. A large plate arrived with 5 different and large pieces of cheese... So much for food wasting! There are a few more examples to list that pretty much ruined the evening for us - especially after the hefty bill payment.

Lunch menu not suitable for vegetarians. Although the website says that two "menus" are vegetarian, and although I called the restaurant in advance, as a vegetarian I was able to eat exactly 1 of the 6 curries. It was a real disappointment for me. The curry was delicious, but white rice and a curry for 25.50 CHF...? I also find it questionable to speak of a “menu” when you can only choose between a few curries. In my opinion, a menu consists of a starter, main course and dessert. Perhaps an evening visit would have been better, but lunch was disappointing.

As always, an extremely tasty and varied evening menu with great service and a cozy atmosphere!
