Harmonie in Basel

Interior classic restaurant, pleasant. Food: Excellent, especially the Rösti is second to none, but everything on the menu is really very good.

My brother and I stopped by in this cozy restaurant and hotel. We enjoyed a warm coffee, a local cider, and the lovely atmosphere. As more people came inside, all were greeted with friendly “hellos” and made to feel welcome. We had plenty of privacy, yet still felt part of the friendly crowd. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, eager to provide excellent service. Next time I’m going to try their trout

Very original, original restaurant in the old town. It's unbelievable that something like this still exists here. A real, old “neighborhood pub” with a lot of homely atmosphere. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and competent. Everything absolutely authentic.

We had dinner at Harmonie after a conference at the University of Basel and had a good time. Attentive service, typical dishes of the Basel tradition (Blut- un Leberwurst, leberli etc.) well cooked and served.

Nice, cozy place that all self-proclaimed professional Basel residents must know. I always like how attentive the staff are. The sausage cheese salad with fries is probably no longer an insider tip. The sauce is remarkably good. Please keep it up👍.

We were in Basel for work and wanted to go out for dinner in the evening. We called shortly beforehand and got a great table. The food was very tasty, Swiss and affordable. The service was courteous and very nice. The location is great anyway, right next to the Spalentor and the university and at the entrance to the historic old town. I would definitely call ahead and reserve a table, the restaurant was full to capacity, we were there on a Tuesday evening.

Unfortunately I have to make an addition here on August 26th, 23 🧐 we have been eating at Harmonie for decades, my sister-in-law from America had made a reservation there this evening, we wanted to surprise our loved ones and pay for the dinner with our credit card, after several phone calls this was not possible, since there was no one who wanted to take responsibility!!? You don't have to wonder why the sidewalks in Basel are folded up on the weekend 🤔

We were able to spend a very pleasant evening at Harmonie. The ambience is incomparable, really rustic and cozy. At first I was hesitant when the waitress led us to a table where someone was already sitting, but when I looked around I realized that this was normal there. The furnishings are unique, you immediately feel at home. A reservation is definitely recommended, as it is very difficult to get a table there spontaneously. Our server was attentive, humorous and quick. That's how it should be. The food - Entrecote Café de Paris - was really good. The meat was cooked to perfection, the sauce was incredibly tasty, just a little less salt would have been better, and it was served in a pan. A successful evening that we would like to repeat.

Food here is ok. There's nothing Id go back for. Our waiter Harry? was very friendly but also VERY loud. Louder when he was pushing his belly into us and his head was near our ears. I hate being bumped into in restaurants but it must be difficult to avoid many things when you're that size. What's worse was at one point he was flailing his hands about for some reason and struck me with his knuckles.with the noise I couldn't wait to leave

Ordered rösti with bratwurst. Rösti was OK, but the bratwurst was not hot and service was so quick that they would not have had time to prepare the bratwurst properly. It was probably grilled earlier and picked from a already cooled lot. The Senf they are using had a bitter taste.

The Fondue outside - I recommend that you try it now, in this exceptional autumn of 2020. I kept on returning to the Harmonie with a friend of mine to benefit from their special offering: Fondue outside. Three types of Fondue - the "normal one" - just wine and cheese, the second one with herbs and cream and the third one made with beer instead of wine. All excellent. With the Fondue we always had a good glass of wine. I just take some warm jackets along and used the blankets that the Harmonie offers. Furs are on the seat.By the way, the Harmony has more to offer on their menu list, my favourite meal being the Matjes Herring.We will come again in December.
