Bretzel Koenig being who they are and a train station store, yes, their items are quite pricey for what they are. But, the bretzels themselves are rather good overall, and I absolutely do not understand the negative reviews about the staff, I've been there plenty of times and they are really nice!
An alternative I'd recommend if you're on a budget is to reserve surprise bags there via the Too Good To Go app, you get plenty of food for a very affordable price, still delicious!
Here's an overview of what I've tested and a few recommendations to try out 🙂
- Planted curry baguette: Absolutely delicious, very filling sandwich with plenty of flavor and a variety of ingredients.
- Tomato mozzarella baguette: delicious too, crispy and very textured.
- Avocado sislerli and sislerlis in general: Pretty good, tasty!
- Cheese bretzel (sandwich): good but nothing exceptional for the price
- Normal bretzels: obviously good but not quite the most affordable ones
- Hot dogs (not sure if they have them in fribourg but they do at other places): Delicious, give it a try! (note: I highly recommend taking it without any sauce, it would mask the taste of the bretzel!)
- Rösti bretzel: Nice to try for the fun of it but not that enjoyable as it is cold.
- Sweet chocolate bretzel: Not worth it, too sweet and not quite different from a pain au chocolat taste wise. Go for something salty if you want to go there
Zero tacts with customers - took the order incorrectly - I took a chicken burger with fries and a chicken burger without fries she misunderstood she gave me a cheeseburger with double fries - so I said I I didn't order that - she told me no ma'am, you told me that instead of exchanging. Really not happy. Service to change!!!!!!

Closes at 9:50 p.m. and not 10:00 p.m., it is not stipulated anywhere on the machine that it does not give change, moreover, every other time there is no voucher that comes out and when by a miracle one good luck the scanner does not work. Tired of always having problems with this station.
The only positive point is that the staff is very pleasant.

Disappointing experience.
We entered the restaurant at 7:05 p.m. (the bells of St. Peter's Church were still ringing). When we wanted to take a seat, I discovered the next room where there were also guests. We were immediately reprimanded: “The room is closed!”
No “Hello” or “Grüezi” or “Welcome”….
We sat down and asked for the menu. We were told that there was only Bircher muesli and bread rolls left. When I pointed out that it was described differently on the internet, the lady simply said that there was no longer any food at that time, only the small menu. But we weren't given the small menu either, because an omelet or chicken nuggets would have at least been a warm meal instead of just bread rolls and cereal.
Due to a lack of alternatives, I ordered wine and water and at the same time asked for the WiFi password. I got the rude answer: “One thing after the other...!” Apparently recording and having two drinks and giving the WiFi password at the same time leads to overwhelm. The people next to us were served food and we sat with water and wine even though the menu on the website clearly states that the kitchen is open until 7:30 p.m.
When I asked again, I only got unfriendly answers. The WiFi password that was given to me after repeated requests was also incorrect.
If there is no longer a kitchen at 7:05 p.m., then this should also be clearly communicated on the homepage.
By the way: the cook was still in the house because he was chatting animatedly with the serving staff until we left the restaurant instead of preparing a meal for us.
Never again!

The waitress gives you the impression that you're a bother and that she doesn't actually feel like working. Not Ms. Kälin, she is very nice and helpful. The price is completely wrong, croissants for 1.75 CHF, the owner and operator always gives unreliable excuses about high costs. Well, we have another bakery and Volg in our village.
