Wonderful for treating yourself to a drink in between. Instead of getting stuck in traffic near Thun, it's a good place to spend some time.
The wonderful view of the lake, the Stockhorn and the Niesen would still inspire Paul Klee today. There is also fantastic tarte flambée, possibly the best in the region. It also has a dock if anyone is traveling by boat :-)
Italian cuisine at its finest. Like in an upscale restaurant in Italy. Not just the usual dishes that you can get everywhere, but also regional specialties that are less well known and all the better. The restaurant is well-kept, the service led by Michelangelo is very attentive and Domenico conjures up his delicacies in the kitchen. When the temperatures are warm, the terrace in the front garden on the Schüss canal is tempting. Highly recommended!
We had an early lunch on a Saturday. The place is hopping when the weather is good. Nevertheless food was served quickly. Burgers were nice, but not spectacular.
The fact that only English was spoken really bothered me. The service staff is not attentive, if you want something you have to look for someone. The food was good for us, but unfortunately not very warm. My husband's duck was dry and without sauce.
Visit glassblowing factory/shop and lunch. So far I've liked it in this restaurant (I've never eaten there before), but today it was a waste of time and money. The boss, R. Zünd, was stressed, irritable, frustrated and not really customer friendly. No other staff appeared to be present. The choice of words also left a lot to be desired when the pendulum fell out of his hand.
At first there was a lot of chatter about the stones/bracelets (pendulums questionable). When asked about the menu, R.Z. stated that he didn't have a menu but could tell us what he was offering. These were fitness plates with crispy fish or falafel and other fish as well as various raviolis with salad. This didn't necessarily suit our taste or that of my children, who weren't that hungry either, so we asked if we could even have a salad. This was denied!! It was also left out that there were smaller snacks such as garlic bread. So we ordered crispy biscuits three times and ravioli once. Salad was ok, crispy not crispy, ravioli with tomato mozzarella tasted like olives. The subsequent bill for three fitness plates as well as a mineral, a beer and a large bottle of cola was rather hefty at CHF 140.00. When we paid we saw that there was a menu where the prices and everything on offer would also be visible. There was no receipt, which raises certain suspicions about the billing concept...
The price would be one thing if the service and customer friendliness were right. And if, after the smoke break, the service goes back to work with clean dishes outside, I don't know... In any case, hands weren't washed, more likely the free-roaming dog was petted.
I'm sorry, but after today I won't be able to recommend this place anymore.
We are pleased that the Forellensee is open again. The food is still sensationally good. If you don't like fish, I can warmly recommend the fine chicken breast with curry sauce.
Review of the stay on December 20, 2020
We had a great experience! The breakfast was very fresh. The room is nice and big and comfortable! It was in a really nice location with great views and a welcoming atmosphere.
We went to the restaurant for dinner which had very interesting and fresh food (venison burgers and wild goulash).
The staff was very friendly and personable.
It was very cozy and super nice in this atmosphere. The buffets were very nicely presented. The service staff made every effort and was always there. The only shame was that the cheese selection no longer had recent cheese from Switzerland on offer (we have very great cheese in the nearby Bernese Oberland) and that there was no natural yogurt for the variety of "muesli", flakes and nuts etc. available. We will definitely come back again and again!
